Title: Who are...
Post by: dj181 on May 24, 2010, 12:23:20 PM
The best all-around athletes, taking into account: strength, speed, endurance (both muscular and cardio-vascular), power, hand-eye coordination, agility, quickness, and balance?  I would say boxers or basketball players. Discuss

I agree about centerfielders, except for the endurance factor

basketball is fine but you have to take into account the size of the players in relation to their playing "field". a near 7 foot person playing on a regulation court 10 foot rims, and 96 foot court.  is like a 5 '10 man playing on his local elementary size court with 8.5 foot rims and near 80 foot court.

now football is a different mater. 100 yards long and 53 yards wide. height doesn't matter there. only speed, coordination, and vision are important.

not taking in account aggression, and ability to learn strategy and and adapt accordingly, i would say football is the sport where a true athlete is measured.

skill positions only. QB  RB  WR  LB CB  S

but then again maybe im biased.

Gymnasts are in the same league as centerfielders, and the skilled football positions, very good all-around athletes, but lacking in endurance (both muscular and cardio-vascular).

Decathletes are great athletes but lack hand-eye coordination and quickness (fast hands).
