I think it's bullshit, Anderson who is 6"2 fighting at 170 or 185 !!??!! I mean what the fooock.. same thing goes for GSP,
what do you guys think about this trend? I hate it, I wish fighters fought in their natural weight range, none of this cutting weight to make the weigh ins then putting on 20lbs. overnight with electrolyte drinks and special diets.
I think it's really getting out of hand and I lose a lot of respect for GSP and Silva for doing it to such an extreme, yes Silva's gone up to 205 for a couple of fights in the last 2 years but for fuck's sake the guy is 6 FOOT 2 with a crazy reach, fighting guys that are 5'9 and getting a half foot reach advantage on them easily.

Overeem did the same thing for a long time and it just about ruined the guy every time. He became a completely different fighter once he stopped cutting 40+ pounds to make 205. This has been going on forever, though. I remember Arona coming down from 230+ to make weight. Rampage does the same thing and I'm sure more do. Don't really see it changing.

Actually GSP doesn't cut as much weight as many of the other guys in his division, like Alves. But I agree. I think they should weigh in the day of the fight. It would solve the whole weight cutting thing.

Plus the outcome would be **REAL** matchups not guys starving themselves for a month to cut 40lbs. so they have a better chance of beating a smaller guy and then ballooning back up to their day to day weight the night before the fight.
Also I don't think UFC should have a 265 weight limit, it's useless and proven pointless with numerous fighters at over 280 lbs.

Glorified Tomato can Fedor Emilieneko has shown time and time again that cutting weight is unnecessary.
If you want to have an undefeated record and duck top UFC HW's, don't cut weight.

this is another reason the great Fedor deserves more respect
he fights men much larger than himself, at his height most guys fight at 185

Just because someone is a fighter doesn't mean he isn't a tit... that losing weight shit only proves that most o them are afraid to fight on their real weight class... major insecureness. Plus, the BW 265 limit is crap. That makes the ufc look like kidergarden compared to what pride was! Fedor would destroy the ufc...

I remember back in UFC 1 or 2 or 3.. there is no weight classes.. no rules.. the real ultimate fighter.. than it is today... more of a pansy now...

This would prevent alot of fights from happening, but I think they should weigh in the day before. Then before there fight they should have to weigh in again, and if they weigh more than the next division up, the fight is called off.
