Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has today labelled bitter rival, Rashad Evans a ‘coward’, predicting he won’t back up what he said months ago about standing toe-to-toe with the man from Memphis on Saturday night and will instead look to take the fight to the ground.
Speaking via ESPN.co.uk recently, Jackson said:
“I don’t hate anybody. I might not like someone, but I’m a child of God. I just really don’t like this guy, It’s a given that he will try to wrestle with me. I expect him to come out and try to do something stupid like kick my leg, like Forrest did. Or get me to come towards him so he can take me down.”
“I don’t think he will fight me like a man, toe-to-toe, like he says he’s gonna do. Why should he? He’s a coward. In every one of his fights, he fights like a coward. I don’t expect him to turn into a man for this fight. He’s a coward.”
“He fought a guy with no wrestling in Thiago Silva, and as soon as the guy touched him his legs went all like rubber. He fought Thiago Silva like a coward. I hit harder than Thiago Silva.”
“If he thinks I’m one dimensional, he’s got another thing coming. People don’t realise it. I do what I want to do in a fight. If I want to box somebody, I’ll do it. Back in the day I was slamming everybody, and I was having a lot of fun doing it. Now I wanna knock people out. Just let it be known that I want to destroy him, I want to punish him.”
One final episode of UFC Primetime is set to air this week detailing the two fighters journeys up until this point. Then fans will have to buckle up as they come face-to-face two days running at the pre-fight press conference and weigh-in’s in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I think if jackson wants a straight up boxing match he should challenge him to a boxing match instead of a MMA fight ::)

LMAO so what? ITS AN MMA FIGHT...not a boxing match ppl talk shit all the time it seems like the UFC encourages it to hype up the fights

Rampage is not as dumb as he looks.
He is probably trying to bait Rashad into leaving his comfort zone ( and only shot of victory imo) by challenging his man hood and making the fight a brawl rather than a carefully planned fight.
If Page gets Rashad to bite and fight the way he wants, Rashad has no chance of winning.

I agree. I can easily see Rashad staying out of harms way with that herky jerky a$$ movement, throw a few closed eyed combinations then bail out, throw in a couple shoots..etc completely boring hoping he lands something like he did against chuck (which won't happen vs rampage).
Meanwhile rampage will just stalk waiting for the killer counter finish. If rashad gets cocky for even a second in this fight it's lights out that moment. His best bet is to go back to the boring rashad we all know and love if the wants to win....the one that gets boo'ed after his boring a$$ fights.
Snooze fest....I"ll catch it online. Not worth the buy imo.

You guys are all underestimating Rashad. Period. Look at his fight record! He's fought some tough dudes. His cardio is tops.
Look at the recent Page fights.... nothing too spectacular. How about his snoozefest decision with Jardine? JARDINE?!
Vegas odds have this fight a lot closer than you all think.

Im going to buy it just for the simple fact that this is going to be a legit grudge match and the winner is fighting Shogun.
Of course Rashad has a chance-- he's no can by any stretch, but he's also no Rampage.
Rampage has 30 victories and most of them have been over top flight fighters. In the past 10 years he has two loses to Wandy in Pride, a loss to Sakuraba, Shogun and the ultra unimpressive Forrest Griffin (where it was obvious he was injured).
He has 10x the experience Rashad does, has fought 10x better competition and in this case he's motivated, angry and looking to make a statement. Against a finesse fighter like Rashad, Rampage is strong and experienced enough to avoid any real damage from Rashad and wait to knock his head off. That being said, I think Rashad can out point Rampage with take downs and possibly eek out a boring victory.

These guys HATE each other for sure.
