while reading some of the threads on here i was just wondering how many on here suffer {pretty obvious} from mental illness and when you were diagnosed and treated. i myself have demonstrated some strange behavior from time to time. when circuit city was going out of business and they were selling the leftover crap for 70 percent off, i went in and became angered when i saw all the dvds were not aphalbetized {you know what i mean} so i staRTED ON THE SIDE AWAY FROM THE CASH REGISTER and put i am legend in the front face in all the movie slots, they literally had hundreds of this movie in the store thats why i picked it. when i completed that side i started to work on the other side when i got half way through i took a break at that point one of the employees spotted the 100 or so facings and proceeded to yell at some burned out employee saying this looks like something you would do. for some reason i got great satifaction from this. when the employee started to rectify the situation i suggested he might consider putting them in order a to z. what is my malfuntion i just curious or am i just fun-loving?

The crazy ones are just slightly crazier than the normal ones. The difference is not that big.

Adult ADD. Not actually diagnosed but from what I've read on it. Probably had it as a child looking back. Can't concentrate just on one thing.
-
Just to clear things up, I don't believe ADD is a legit disorder.

You just need to focus on something that your mind finds sticky, stud.

Für mich...
Authentisch, auch wenn nicht angebracht = eher normal.

I can't wait to see what Goodrum puts down. I really want to know what he has and if it was drug induced or if he was born that way

Nobody has a perfect education, perfect parents, so everybody has his own psychological scars. Some are just bigger/more incapacitating than others -bad luck!- and will impact more on one's life.

I've always wondered what it's like to have a bipolar disorder. For some people it seems like that perfect spark of total insanity that fuels their creativity whether it'd be music, comedy or art.
Sorry about the depression though. :(

I don't really suffer from it anymore because of something that happened a few years back. But you're right - it is a double edged sword that gives you an edge a normal person could never have, depending on how it affects you.

I was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder when I was 19 (a decade ago) according to the shrink I went to several times ::). He was a fucking quack himself and i was a normal teenager.
My strict Christian parents caught me smoking pot, drinking and overall partying alot and they thought I had to have a mental disorder- wtf??? I was acting up like a normal teen just having fun-I didn't have anything wrong with me mentally.
I swear the trileptal medicine they put me on made made me very dependent on it and I had terrible withdrawals coming off it 5 yrs ago. I had wild mood swings coming off it for weeks at a time. It took me a long time to forgive my mother for sending me to that quack. Several years ago I realized she was a hypochondriac. She's on a cabinet full of meds and really needs some doctor to tell her she's a hypochondriac, not sick. These doctors make a fortune off her and her insurance so they don't care.
Lately I do seem to have some adult ADD ;D

mmh... a lot of big words just to cover the fact you re simply immature. It's common amongst professionnals to tell their clients they suffer from some kind of mental illness after some sessions, to avoid having to tell em they re just big spoiled crybabies, something they wouldnt receive very well and would lead them to quit coming back and pay ;)
It reassures the client about his shortcomings and he finds a reason to explain why he's just a loser with no will nor balls, or is simply not smart enough. Then he ll spend years convincing himself he's "ill" and content himself with it.

Richard Bandler never met a mentally ill person, never, he only met people that are not so smart with their brain. he especially likes the schizo's, they re always visualizing nightmare scenes when they watch tv, someone is trying to kill them. , he teaches them how to put on the playboy channel for instance, he sees it as a ability he doesnt have. bandler is known to wake people up from coma's. its only disorders, its not illness.

Would be fun if uberman could try out being in your shoes(brain) for a while. I'd doubt he'd make it without putting a gun to his temple.

I like Bandler, he's a character but NLP has been proven time and time again by science to be a crock of shit with no evidence to support it does anything.

Just to clear things up, I don't believe ADD is a legit disorder.
good thing your not in the medical profession, they have structural brain changes, genetic changes in genes, polymorphisms in enzymes etc etc... all found across the population, its a clearly definable disease, with huge drawbacks and suffering without treatment. I doubt you have it.

Social Anxiety Disorder.
Thanks to the internet and a credit card, I am able to lead a vicarious existence.

After I dismember a home less person I always have this irresistible urge to eat a Tuna Melt sandwich. I don't know why that is as I never have a Tuna Melt sandwich under any other circumstances. I'm sure this is some sort of pathology but as it is basically harmless I don't think about it much. I just sometimes wonder what would happen if Denny's were all out of Tuna Melt sandwiches. I wonder if something inside of me would snap and I'd do something crazy.
-
I had a shitload of ocd's as a younger kid but got rid of them all WITHOUT fucking medication.

What do you see in the dark
when the demons come for you
If only you could have seen
how fucked up my life used to be
then everything starts to change
supposedly healing my pain
I never thought I'd feel this way
I never thought that I'd see a day
I'd run away from anything or anywhere or anyone
Its all these demons haunting me
Its all these little things trapped inside of me
Releasing me from all my sin
Its taken me all of my anger
And taken me all of my hate
To learn how my life came together
Releasing the demons again
And now I look through my minds eye
And see where my past needs to rest
Its always disturbed by these voices
That echo inside of my head
Another way that I can hide
Another reason to crawl inside and get away
from everything and everywhere and everyone
NO!
Its all these demons haunting me
Its all these little things trapped inside of me
Releasing me from all my sin
Its taken me all of my anger
And taken me all of my hate
To learn how my life came together
Releasing the demons......again
Facin the days as I grow into my own
Loving and hatings the same
And three-fold I told you
it comes back with laughter
Over and over again
Its coming back
Its taken me all of my anger
And taken me all of my hate
To learn how my life came together
Releasing the demons again

I had ADD as`a boy. Most of my friends did too. We couldn't sit still or concentrate on anything. The nuns at my school cleared it up pretty good with an instrument called a yard stick. Repeated collisions on the back of your hand or legs made us focus like a laser beam.

I started thinking maby something bad will happen if I let my mind take control over me instead of me taking control over my mind lol :).
The turning point was the my mother wanted me to make a appointment at the doctor and see if I could get some meds or something and I said FUCK that and changed over night. I realised how pathetic it all was.
I was "lucky" I managed to change so fast, it was really taking a toll on me, ocd is no joke.
I feel embarrassed now looking back at it thinking how mentally weak I was.

pellius don't remind me of the nuns, i had one who i think was a natzi she was german. this women was into brutallity one time in third grade some dumb girl didn't know the answer to something sister hitler picked the girl up by the head and started hitting the girl's head into the blackboard thus gaining instant respect from both the third and fourth graders present. until one day these two brothers one had some real mental issues really set her off. sister adolf smacked the oldere brother as she walked away he gave her the finger which she saw because she had eyes on the back of her head. she asked the younger brother what does this finger thing mean. he told her it means fuck you sister, upon hearing this she went bezerk and started to randomly hit eveyone with her two by four yardstick.

Ah, the good old days. When we stopped ass whipping kids that's when all went to hell. I read a few weeks ago that the police arrested a 73 grandma for slapping her granddaughter who was swearing and mouthing off. Charged the old lady with domestic battery. I mean, WTF? Seriously, arresting a grandma for slapping her little girl granddaughter? That is fucked up. So fucked up.

The best therapist is a good friend. They'll listen to just enough of your whining so that you "get it out of your system" but then tell you to man up and go a pair if you start to wallow in your self-pity.

You smoke a lot of weed though, don't you? That's a psychoactive drug and quite a few people use it to self-medicate. I have heard several stoners say weed "cured" their mental problems.

to get it out of system? does that really work? as far as im concerned, you only re-live the problem, with no good results whatsoever, NLP gives results

I used to have social anxiety
used to be a sleepwalker too, they even make a disease out of that one ::)
depression not sure

Talking it out is only ONE component of Psychotherapy...the psychotherapist gives you things to do...exercises if you will...very much like a personal trainer...to help you with your problems.
Popculture gurus who push a movement usually don't figure out what wrong and prescribe a custom program to help you. Popculture gurus have a success rate of around five to ten percent,...it happens that the percentage helped long term happened to be neurotic in the way that the program that the guru pushes is oriented.
If you go to a real therapist what you do is fitted to you.
One other thing...avoid using health insurance for mental health services,...you will be marked if you do. Do what you have to do but use cash (health insurance ususally caps mental health services at a paltry sum anyway)...and use a therapist who won't report to the insurance data bases.

Decidedly yes...

Oh yes,...another one other thing,...it makes a difference if you have an organic, medical problem as opposed to someone who is neurotic.

My guess is that there's different kind of depressions..?
From the little I've read bi-polar depression seems almost maniacal and hits you in the face like a brick while the other depression most people get is a long tedious one that creeps up on you.
So perhaps kiwiol has both? I have no idea.

I'm watching "A Beautiful Mind" right now a damn fine flick.

there are numerous types of depression, the most common or known is melencholic, there is atypical, dysthymia etc... bipolar has a depressive phase and a manic phase, depression is not bound to bipolar and there are a multitude more depressives then bipolars.
the poster you quoted was wrong.
depression hurts cymbalta can help.

fuckkk, cutting down my remeron, this drug actually is making me depressed.
watched some tony robbins on youtube, im fine now.
the dude ripping on bandler and nlp, guys like clinton and schwarzenegger call these guys for help, to sort them out with NLP stuff.
how can you call that popculture gurus lol, dont be stupid, nlp brings results where dumb government psychology fails, psychologists dont know shit how to help a person, they need sick people otherwise no jobs.

Decidedly yes...
