Can I get a cliff's notes version of what it is and how it works ?!!?
I heard it's like an online version of blockbuster.. !?
do you use a standard http browser or their proprietary software to connect ?
how do you rent/buy movies..is it an mpg/avi download or proprietary format ?!
thanks.

I don't use it but I think they mail you the DVD and then you mail it back.
-
Very simple to use. I can stream movies to my laptop or get dvd's sent to my house.
Once you sign up you create your movie list on the website and they start sending dvd's. Watch it and return it whenever. Then they send the next 2 movies on your list.
You can modify your list whenever you like on the website so if you happen to see a movie on your list or change your mind.
My only beef with netflix is the streaming movie selection that's available is older stuff. New stuff shows up occasionally but usually new arrivals consist of movies like "Big", or "Rambo III" which is lame.

That’s dictated by the movie studios and is not something Netflix has control over. The service is excellent. On a scale of 1-10 it is a 9. 8)

I work for them. (Yes, serious.) I basically spend most of my shift driving around in the company truck blasting my CD's, and we also get a free rental membership and DVD player. Our CEO also announced that the final nail has pretty much been driven into the coffin for Lackluster Video, so be sure to check out any local stores and see if they're selling DVD's at discounts.

I dont use it, but I heard lots of great things about NetFlix. I BELIEVE you pay a monthly fee, and have unlimited access to movies, right?
Personally I use: www.cinemanow.com (http://www.cinemanow.com) (Which just got bought out by Best Buy). There is no monthly fee, and you pay something like $3 per movie, you can download it on your computer (or if you have a TV or a blu ray player that supports it, then download directly to that), and after you download it you have 30 days to watch it,
once you start watching it you have 24 hours to finish it.
The download is real fast, and you can start watching as it's downloading, so its like streaming. Also the movies are in HD, so its cool! You can also buy movies!
It'd probably be cost effective for me to start using NetFlix instead with all the movies I watch! But sometihng about a monthly fee bugs me! LOL

You're in Canada bro, downloading is legal.

Netflix is cool. If you haven't already, you'll have to download Microsoft Silverlight to view movies. A pretty decent streaming selection.
I'd advise to get the one-at-a-time unlimited for $8.99. Once you get the multiple DVD rental packages, they start staggering and throttling the length of time between mailings according to how quickly you watch them.

LOL! I use Thepiratebay and Torrentz as well as IsoHunt all the time, was just curious about this netflix things cause everyone's talking about it being the future after blockbuster, incidentally when I am too lazy to download a movie I just go to the chinese mall and get the R5's (ratings copies) which are dvd quality for $2 a movie.

Best Service Ever, especially with an Xbox360.
My Instant and Regular Movie queue is FULL to the MAX at nearly 1000. Thats my only beef! I can think of thousands of more movies I would add to my list!

Well you have to have XBOX LIVE and taken as you hacked it, you would likely get banned. Are you able to sign in to Xbox Live?

Ok then, NetFlix is free to use if you have XBOX LIVE and you can stream all the movies in HD from it to your giant TV. The menu is pretty neat as well as you can read a bit about each movie, who is in it, the basic plot and actually organize what you are watching.
Give it a try, you will like it a lot.

These aren't torrent sites. You can stream as well as download from Icefilms, it's your choice. They have HD movies as well as dvd's and no shitty cams, only higher quality stuff.

Sweet! thanks dude, btw. since Debussey forfeited our guitar competition and seeing as how our two favorite guitarists are the same, are you up for a friendly little competition!? I really want to shred off against somebody competent!
I will go easy on the M. Romeo tapped sweeps ;)
-
Netflix rules. I pay $8.99 per month and get movies on ipad, ps3, work pc, laptop, all via instant from internet and i can get a hard copy if needed.
No reason to ever go to blockbuster these days.
-
Movie rentals are too boring for me. I just watch home movies. Trips to outer space, time travel, inter dimensional weekly time warps, trips to the whorehouse, the whole 9 yards. Its a lot of laughs.
How much would you charge for us to rent some of these Big Dicked?

Haha! I barely have time to post the odd post here and there. I'm working 16 hours a day these days.
I did learn flight of the bumblebee though, after watching the world speed record on youtube. I thought I was fast, till I saw this. 16th note picked quadruplets at 320 bpm is fucking insane!
-
I used netflix mostly for streaming. The problem with netflix is the lack of new movies for streaming.
Blockbuster just revamp there system, old movies are .50 cents now. IMO red box is hurting blockbuster more the netflix.

i use it... but i mainly just get the "watch instantly" thing via my xbox...i dont really do the dvd thing...most of the movies can be watched straight from the computer or through a video game platform eg xbox wii and ps3...

Netflix is pretty good. I have a basic cable package with some free movies on demand, and pretty much all of the free movies available on cable are already available to watch instantly on netflix. I'm actually going to drop cable entirely once the promo rate I have ends. I have a blu ray player that lets you stream netflix on the tv. I payed close to $300 for it when i bought it around a year ago, maybe longer. I think most blu ray players have it now for maybe $150 or less, and some tv's as well. If you don't watch a lot of tv shows but just occasionally want to watch a movie, it's worth it. A lot of the movies I get an urge to watch happen to be on Watch Instantly anyways.
Get a blu ray player that supports Netflix Watch Instantly and also that supports VuDu. The VuDu HDX titles you can stream are unbelievable in terms of quality.
The best thing about netflix is that it is easy to rent movies you would be ashamed to rent in stores or buy (if you even wanted to buy them). For example, I rented the whole Emannuelle series one month for nostalgic spank bank material. There's no way I would buy that shit in stores or rent it somewhere. That series seemed a lot better when I was 11.

That's a little pointless and nothing more then a novelty act... I'd like to hear him write a good song or chord progression.

The lightskinned black chcik with the afro was the BEST looking Emannuelle..."Like a Panther..."
