I had an incident a while back that nearly changed my mind, I still believe that I cannot fully believe in ghosts due to me being a rational person.
Wonder how you guys feel
-
i feel like its not a matter of belief, just like belief in God, or belief in Extraterrestrials....... .....i simply do not have enough information to make a judgment on the subject.

Its rational to believe in ghosts...astral beings, just another dimension within ours. Many thing you can't fake..
One of my friends who was stationed in Germany was in some remote post. Well anyway the dude he was stationed with asked him to look at his back because he had scratches on it. Along his back was 6 long scratch marks, and they were bloody. My friend asked if he had a woman there, because she could done it, and he was like no. Ain't anybody in this place but you and me...and it just happened. Plus it was six long symmetrical scratches, a human hand only has 5 fingers, so he couldn't have done it himself...
Needless to say hexstay awake that night.
If you have a iPhone there are apps for to go "ghost hunting", EVP meters, etc
-
In most cases you must see and experience something
"not normal" to believe it.
Afterwards you will try to tell others but in most cases they will still not
believe you until they see it themselves.

What happened Stark, do share?
I personally don't believe in it! But then again I have yet to have an experience to make me do so!
-
ill only share this because some really want to hear these stories. of course doubters will doubt.
ive had my throat choked by the hand of God(?) (pretty sure it was) with a knife in his other hand pointed directly at the center of my clenched throat. couldnt breathe.
i was meditating, the message wasnt entirely clear but i recall being told something about giving up his only son for me, and be being ungrateful.
i started thinking "thank you thank you, forgive me, forgive me"(or something along those lines) and my throat was let go of, as did the knife, and i could breathe again.
God talks to me mostly through the wind. I (think that I) chose the wind, (because its obvious, yet still open for doubt, and only percievable by myself.)
-
Fuck no.
Only idiots believe that shit.
But damn, they tell some great stories, so I'm always up for a laugh.

God could kill you at anytime, you don't need to meditate...me thinks you ran into a astral entity masquerading as God..

Getbig is full of juvenile pathetically minded morons, so belief in ghosts and/or a god should not surprise anyone.

Hopefully a lot. Its good to know there are fellow rationalists on here. Faithers are incredibly hard to deal with in nearly all matters.

you don't believe in ghosts? Find a place in NC, that had a brutal homicide/suicide, one that no one likes to be in or the house keeps on being up for sale. Ask to spend the night, and then yell out loud at night, that "I don't believe in ghosts, and you better show me something..."
Chances are you will see something, if you last. Ghost are nothing more than astral entities, simple as that. Our essence goes to another plain, another dimension, somee thru meditation can break into this lowel level of the astral plain, where they exist.
Have you ever wondered why is it that lil children can see entities? Well, it's because their minds have not closed off the ability to see. Once our minds develop and once we start to learn new things, we are taught that certain things don't exist, so our perception of such things has been closed off...
Or try this, go to a grave yard where a loved one is buried by yourself, like around dusk or so, take a tape recorder, ask questions and press record, just have a convo, gauranteed you wil get something.

Although I dont believe in ghosts....
Ghosts (ghost movies) scare the shit out of me!!! If I do EVER see a ghost, its not so much that I'd be scared that the ghost would hurt me, but more so the fact that I'm seeing a fucking ghost!!!!!!
I'm not gonna lie, I would freak the fuck out! Guess its a good thing I dont believe in them! :-)

Here is my question for you... why does it have to be at night??? Do ghosts not function during the day, I think this has to do with the built up beliefs which we make up to ourselves from all the movies we watch, that ghosts and zombies and vampires and werewolves, all that shit come out at night!
And why does it have to be NC? There are crazy homicides/murders in many places! LOL
-
People will always see what they believe in.
And, they will never see what they don't believe in.
-
I still wanna hear stories from people that NEVER believed and then all of a sudden do!
Stark tell us what happened! The suspense is killing me!

Absolutely - I've had something supernatural happen to me once.
-
there absolutely is paranormal activity, how else can you explain Branch Warren finishing second at the Olympia

They function during the day, just night time makes its creepier. Plus 3:00 am seems to be some sort of "witching hour". Don't know why but it seems like tons of paranormal activity goes on at that time.
And the NC, thing, TA lives in NC, that's why I said it.
I've never sen one, but I have felt my grandfather's presence. It's like a whiff of air, a slight breeze at my grandma's house, and the air conditioner is NOT on, nobody has opened the door, and the air is still. I was very close to him as a child.
-
what about fairies, unicorns and santa?
::)
idiots..
-
Absolutely - I've had something supernatural happen to me once.
both happend when I either woke up or didn't sleep I am not too sure.
One I have a witness which is my ex, we went to a place in scotland and I woke up in the middle of the night and had an incredible feeling of being completely alone, the feeling is extremely hard to describe I still get chills when i think about it.
It was like I was completely empty, just really really empty no soul or what ever you want to call that, it was just an icy very cold lone feeling.
I sat up in my bed and I woke up my ex - she said there was something wrong with my face like I was real real scared, I said only one sentence which was (and I cannot remember that) there is no love in this world - and thats the feeling I had.
I know you guys will laugh and call me a pussy but I never had that feeling again and if I would have it on a regular basis I probably kill myself thats how strong it was.
Later we found out at the B$B breakfast they were joking that the house was haunted so I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it.
Second was I was in my ex parents house real old farmer house - her parents had no money so the hoiuse was a little run down.
I lie in my bed and I remember I wake up and I see somebody sitting at the end of my ex bed - and shes talking to that person - I couldn't move and I had a bad feeling like I have a huge lump in my throat and I cannot swallow it down.
I couldn't figure out if it was her mom or anybody else sitting there, at the end the what ever it was got up and made kind of a gesture like you do with your head when you say yes and kinda went away not in the movies like disapeared its hard to discribe.
In the morning i was asking everybody if they talked to her at night and everybody was real spooked lol especially my ex since she cannot remember talking to anybody but she said she had crazy dreams but couldn't remember them.
But again i am sure I had a wake dream maybe.

what about fairies, unicorns and santa?

idiots..
Of course they don't exist. Only in books
-
Intresting , I cant say for sure that ghosts exist or no ,but it is a matter of co-incidences and illusion, can be about the people who you think about the most. One can relate even relate ghosts to dreams and nightmares. But as per the holy leaders there`s an parallel world out there from where we get answers to our thought process which is called feeling of ghosts. Few members of my family have experienced it...
This was way back in june 1994, my grandfather had passed away due to an cardiac arrest so after 3 days my uncle, aunt came to our place to live with us for a while,That night surprisingly it was very dark and living on a third floor of an apartment building wasnt that usual thing to see a dark night. we have a small balcony connected to the living room and we keep that open for fresh air all time, at around 12:45 am when everyone was ready to go to bed there was a bright flash light of a car from the opposite compound and at the same time my uncle lit his cigrette with a lighter, the combination of these 2 lights made an impression of my grandfather in a standing position ,as my grandfather had crppipled feet he use to lean on the door as he stood. my aunt says she saw this clearly of course after experiencing something like this one has to yell and shout just like in the movies. :)
but have to say theres life after death
-
Another form of ritual is people perform in Planchet,ie calling of spirits.you can do that if you have nothing to lose.

Stark tell us what happened! The suspense is killing me!
i never believed in anything supernatural, or God, until just this past spring.
It hit me about 4 days after reading Rene Descartes' Meditations on First philosophy.
:)
my story on the page before is one of several types of experiences ive had, that was the only one with some kind of "contact". all of them occured after my coming to believe.
do you know what made me believe in the supernatural (God) ? it wasnt an experience of anything supernatural at all... it was logic 8)

For some reason I have a vision you pottering around the garden, feeding chrysanthemums with an eyedropper while wearing bifocals.

Several years ago, while driving home from work, I saw a grand opening of a supermarket in town with plenty of business going on. I passed it by and didn't think much about it. Just before I arrived back to my house to park the car, I heard a weird noise and saw bright light. It was kinda like a wooooshing noise - woooossh. It came quick and left. Didn't think much about that either. Anyway, my girlfriend was going to do some food shopping and I told her to try the new supermarket that opened up. She told me that it wasn't open yet. I told her it was. She was adamant that it wasn't even near being completed. I told her I just drove by it and there were people and cars parked. So we took a ride over there and sure enough the entire complex was still under construction! The grand opening wouldn't arrive for another 8 weeks! WTF? I must of accidentally slipped into some kind of time warp or something. I couldn't believe it. After arguing with her for an hour, she finally told me (to paraphrase) to go copulate with myself and to get the long overdue medication that I need.

Its called sleep paralysis, responsible for all waking weird feelings/hallucinations also same thing that makes idiots think they are being abducted by ufos.

I'm sure that there are. However, stuff like psychics, astrology and ghosts is total bullshit, IMO. That doesn't mean that weird stuff isn't out there that science can't explain. But I don't believe in quacks like Sylvia Brown, etc.

sevastase is an expert in this field, where is he when you need him? ???

Pure nonsense to me this day and age. I wish i could believe in them, but as a rational person who is pretty educated, how can you believe in such things.
There were times when i was young where i wanted nothing more to see some level of spiritual activity, in hopes that that also means there is a god, but never went anywhere.
I have...HAVE...as a teen and early 20something yr old, gone to cemeteries with friends to play Ouija board. Gone to most haunted (sopposedly REAL haunted) houses in Galveston and Houston at one time or another and stayed in the "sopposed" haunted rooms. Gone to Gettysburg at night time (one of the most haunted places in the US), and other random ass things in the attempts to find some real sign....just a damn sign...of the paranormal and never got a damn thing.
I now find it all silly, but as a young adult, sure was curious and wanted so much to believe in them.

How come nobody ever sees Insect Ghosts since insects die by the billions daily. In fact, given the sheer amount of death across all species of life that has ever lived, one would be bumping into Ghosts left and right (that is if they really existed).
People on this site are as dumb as the people all around you on a daily basis. The majority of people are incredibly gullible and are what I call a proud stupid.

Yep, I agree. Just dont see how a society can ...not just believe but easily believe in Ghosts and things like The Bible :-X with out the slightest hesitation, while on other normal topics, are very intelligent . Just dont get it.

No shit, I've had a similar experience myself.
I once went out drinking with my mates in Exeter and sustained similar wounds to those you described.
I have no recollection of what happened that night, only that I found myself the next morning in a strange bed next to a large clammy mass covered by a duvet. I started to panic about being trapped in this foul creature's lair, and the panic increased after I examined myself and found deep, painful scratches on my thighs and back. It was at this point that the thing next to me started to make a snuffling, snoring noise - which I can only describe as from beyond the grave - and I decided to make a sharp exit.
That wasn't the end of the supernatural experience, as a couple of weeks later I was plagued by a burning sensation when I pissed and an ectoplasm like discharge from the little chap.
Spooky.
-
No. The family who lived in our house before we moved in, their dad hung himself in our garage so they were keen to move out of there. Kinda dissapointed nothing has happened really, would be cool if it did.

I gave you some ideas on trying to disprove ghosts. It's inexpensive, go try it and comeback with your findings. Unless you can disprove it, then where is the common sense to call people dumb? If you don't believe, say don't and move on.

no fucking joke...it feels weird but it is that sleeping paralysis or whatever it is called
i experience this kind of often...i'm awake my eyes are open but i can't say anything, i can barely breath and i can't move for a minute or so like something sits on your chest...fact ist that your brain is awake and your body already sleeps

Tbh, sleeping with a fat skank from time to time is good for you. The resulting feelings of shame and remorse helps you pick your game up a bit.

I've had that once on the night before my Nan's funeral. I was staying in my old room at my parent's when I "woke" up in the middle of the night and there was a dark shape at the end of my bed. I couldn't move, make a noise or anything. I know it was all a dream, but it gave me the horrors big time.

No its dumb and ignorant to dismiss something outright just because it doesn't fit into the persons logical way of thinking.
Its smart to keep all your options open and stay critical.
Give you an example - A few hundred years ago you be called dumb if you suggested that one day we may fly to the moon or mars for that matter.
parallel universes have been proven on paper with math by a Swiss female professor as far as I can remember correctly, so who knows its just a matter of time
until we discover even more interesting things in regards to time and how we fit into it.
Fact is that with all the technical advances and things we do believe we know there are still a heap of things we cannot explain we maybe in a better position in the near future to explain them but for now there are certain things that cannot be explained.

Sorry , but I call bullshit, he probably leaned up against a wall with nails sticking out..you're telling me the 6 scratch marks just appeared out of nowhere!?!! maybe it happened earlier and he didn't notice.. there's been incidences of a guy in England stabbed in the back of the head with a knife, he went to the hospital because he had a headache, had no idea the knife was in there from a barfight..

Yeah, like that damn "scratching vid" where was dude was being scratched on video, damn things came out thin air and you can see him being scratched. It was on that show "Sightings", turns out some lil girl had died in the house and didn't like that guy for some reason....
Stark, what you first said is like this- the best view is the absence of all views. Therefore it includes all views. Its ignorant and dangerous to cling to certain dogmas.

I agree. But, let us also be absent of being afraid of the dark, of being alone, and being scared and influenced from fictional horror films. It works both ways.

Man has always been afraid of the dark, for it encapsulates everything about the unknown...also it was when the really bad predators came out...so man has always had that fear engrained into him. But as far as modern day is, I remember as child noticing, the same thing in my room looked eeriely different wit the lights off, Paddington Bear and Pooh Bear looked more menacing with the shadows playing off of them, and their fixed smiles...seemed very evil...but of course, it was all mind games. Sometimes, we can see what we want to see, especially when we let our fears, wants, and desires cloud our sight.
-
don't know if this is ghost related or paranormal related. but i do remember my mother telling me that when her mother my grandmother passed away they flew there across country to be with her when she passed, and then they drove home.... anyway, the first night in a hotel, the hotel room had the same exact curtains that were in my grandmother's living room, i mean exactly! what are the odds of that! and that night my mother said as she was in bed going to sleep she could smell her mother's perfume that she always wore very strongly all night, like literally up to her nose it was that powerful!... the next morning, they went to breakfast and the waitress was wearing a name tag and it was the name of my grandmother. perhaps just weird coincidence. but maybe not?!

yeah in this case I would go for weird coincident - also remember how it goes - if you believe in a conspiracy of the number 9 you see the number 9 everywhere.
-
The number 9??? The number 6 is a better number :D

You're English, right? :)

I would say you are English too, but your username is HTexan.
I didn't know Paddington bear is also sold in the US, always thought it was exclusively British!
-
Well someone or something has been moving my car keys,sunglasses,cell.....everymorning from where I left them the night before >:(
-
You're English, right? :)
Paddington and Pooh were English imports, Pooh by way of Disney. But I would have nightmares of those "drawn" people in Paddington Bear. And I have sneaky suspicion that Paddington was really a drunk, there was something in that marmalade to make him walk like that.
-
Pooh bear is da man! Easy come, easy go ;)
-
i am happy to say that ghosts are real! i am content cause i know that santa wouldn't lie to me......
-
Pure nonsense to me this day and age.
I now find it all silly, but as a young adult, sure was curious and wanted so much to believe in them.
i had a very similar experience to you. from a very young age ive always tried everything i could in order to have contact with the supernatural. i would even pray and think and yell for the devil to come take my soul, all i wanted in return was the knowledge of the supernatural.
the problem is, you want to "grab God by the balls".. and thats something you will never be able to do. ;)
youve got to drop your ego

We’ve arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements- transportation, communication, and all other industries; agriculture, medicine, education, entertainment, protecting the environment; and even the key democratic institution of voting- profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things, so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for awhile, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.
…For much of our history, we were so fearful of the outside world, with it’s unpredictable dangers, that we gladly embraced anything that promised to soften or explain away the terror. Science is an attempt, largely successful to understand the world, to get a grip on things, to get a hold of ourselves. To steer a safe course. Microbiology, and meteorology now explain what only a few centuries ago was considered sufficient cause to burn women to death.
Avoidable human misery is more often caused by not so much by stupidity, but by ignorance, particularly ignorance about ourselves. I worry that, especially as the Millennium edges near, pseudoscience and superstition will seem year by year more tempting, the siren song of unreason more sonorous and attractive. Where have we heard it before? Whenever our ethnic or national prejudices are aroused, in times of scarcity, during challenges to national self-esteem or nerve, when we agonize about our diminished cosmic place and purpose, or when fanaticism is bubbling up around us - then, habits of thought familiar from ages past reach for the controls. The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles. Darkness gathers. The demons begin to stir.

these video's are not explainable by medical means, they aren't "mentally ill" people.
-
here's another "strange" video you can't explain by physics, the men slising their tongues are using real and sharp knifes and they don't get any bruises...
the "ancestors" that they claim that are protecting them by harming them selves aren't their ancestors, that's bullshit... if your soul is at peace you never communicate with the outside world. These men have a very light posession by demons, because you can't explain that act by physics.
You can explain breaking bricks, breaking walls and breaking bones and lifting trucks by physics, but not this.
My oppinion to all of this?
no comment, yet anyway

I had a good stack of Bond books when I was growing up (in the US). A lot of humor isn't accessible to American kids tho. I remember a passage from Paddington Goes to Town that was lost on me at the time. Paddington goes to see a psychiatrist and enrages the shrink by repeatedly asking the guy when he's going to perform some tricks on a bicycle.

As long as Pooh had his honey, he was okay. Pooh was the type that if Gopher hit Eyore (sp) over the head with a shovel, and ripped out his stuffing and then kidnapped Roo, while giving Tigger "uppers", he would do nothing and sit and eat honey. Unless it benefited Pooh, he couldn't give shit...somehow it seems like that was a jab at the British Empire.
Yeah, Mr. nobody if Paddington posted he would cause marmalade induced meltdowns in everybody.
