That's a real hero
No ,policemen, soldiers , firefighters, Hudson pilot................... ........................ ............etc.

You don`t value your own life more than 4 pointless children? You do realize you only have one life to lose and you don`t get a second go round at this.
Those 4 trashy kids will just go on to be mediocre fucksticks. I`d call the man a moron more than a hero.
Besides, the kids should not have been in the water if they didn`t know how to properly swim. Perhaps they should have been wearing floaties.

Valid viewpoint for some i am sure, but that is quite cold hearted, dont ya think? Few joys can be had in life that can come close to the "natural high" one can get from really helping others.
how would you feel if you were 35 years old and you had 4 kids and someone died saving them? i am sure you would think a little differently. Now what if you had 4 tards for kids? Little different aye, and i still think you woudl be very thankful.

How can you experience the "joy" or the "natural high" if you are dead? ???
Sure I would have helped do what I can, but I would not have pushed it to the limit. My life is more valuable then to waste it on 4 dumbass children who had no business being in the water anyways.
As to your second point, I would feel horrible knowing that someone died a pointless death due to my stupidity of letting the children swim and also not watching them carefully. I would probably deserve some sort of punishment.

If you have to think about something like that then you are not the type to help others. Simple as that. To do something like that is spontaneous. I promise you he did not stand there thinking of what to do or is he going to get hurt or die from doing it. Some people just have that instinct to help. I like the fact that I can do that. I have butted into many situations that I really shouldn't have but I had too. One quick one was when I was just 19 or 20 on my way to Florida and was at LAX. A guy was hitting his wife and grabbing this kid. As soon as I saw it I went over and told the guy not to hit the woman again. She hid behind me and the kid did too. The guy said something like hey this is none of your business and that is my wife and boy. I asked the woman and kid if they want to go with him and they said no. So I said sorry to the guy. He came forward and grabbed through me and I hit him knocked him down then held him there till airport security came. Everyone in the terminal were coming up to me saying how nice that was. When I got on the plane the did the same thing and they gave me free headphones and extra food. So that was cool I just can't stay out of others business if someone is getting hurt. I would hope I had the same ball if I knew someone could die. I did go into a burning house once in our neighborhood. No one was home luckily and when I got to the back door the gas main blew up and threw me about 15 into the garage door. That was cool. Anyway, some people have it and others don't.

I don`t agree that altruism is all or nothing. We all have evolved Evolutionary with reciprocal altruism.
Also, I have no doubts that you would willfully watch Vince Goodrum and I suffer and die right before your eyes.
In fact, I am quite confident that I could put a loaded pistol in your hand and you would not hesitate to blow my brains out if you were 100 percent certain that no punishment would befall you.

I have to agree with you that i personally don't know (and in most cases WOUDLNT) sacrafice myself for others, but honestly i hope there is a circumstance where my life is NOT more important, such as maybe family members or life long friends.
In the end though, it might have been stupid, but it was still a very good deed this man did and its better to have people (not the stupid ass parents of the kids) like him in the world then to not.

On a somewhat different note.
Don`t you love hindsight and the irony therein. Take this Joran Van Der Sloot. The only reason why he was down there in Peru in the first place was because Natalie Holloway`s mother fronted the money in an FBI sting which he used to go to the poker tournament.
If Holloways mother would not be so obsessed with her dead daughter, then Van Der Poop would have never made it to Peru and we would have one less dead girl on our hands. (Of course Van Der Poop is to blame since he did kill, but the setting would never have been possible without Holloway inadvertently funding his trip.)
Oh the beautiful irony. I wonder what Mrs. Holloway thinks about this and if her rabid obsession may have been a little too much.

Are you sure you even read the article? The sand bar they were standing on gave way. And the kids were 3,5,12 and 15 years old yet you are so sure they will "go on to be mediocre fucksticks." Imagine if they were your kids.
Yes, you only have one life. But for some, there are some things greater than one's self. One's existence. There are some things worth both living and indeed dying for. But that is something you will never understand. You have shown yourself repeatedly to be a very selfish, self-absorbed, malignant narcissist.
But that is not surprising since you believe in nothing other than yourself. That this world and the entire universe happened purely by chance and nothing more than random concussions of molecules that just always existed. Fair enough, I can't prove you wrong as you can't prove you're right. And like my opposing view it's a matter of faith. But don't make the argument that believing in nothing makes you a better person. Metaphysics determine ethics.
But what the hell, it's not like you were ever going to write Beethoven's Fifth.

You do realize there are 6.7 Billion people in the world already. Don`t you think we could do with just a few less and that every Ejaculation isn`t exactly worth preserving?

Quite a sentiment coming from a Jew.
What a disgrace.

And that is the reality. The Jews who didn`t die lived because they didn`t do foolish things that would have resulted in assured death and looked first to preserve themselves. THIS is something YOU will NEVER understand.

If you are wearing floaties at 5 years old give up going swimming. Only people from NC do that. My grandkids and daughters were all in the ocean by 1. My 3 year old grand daughter surfs. It is okay that you say that though. Excuses abound you

LOL, this reminds me of some low budget movie i saw on netflix while at work called Rampage. Should check it out.
Sorry, Planet earth is at Max Capacity lol

My mother was an Alternate for the Olympics in 1968 for the German National Swim team. Sorry Charlie, I also took to the water at a young age and swam competitively. The inexperienced should definitely wear floaties as I have personally seen drownings and near deaths many times.
3 years old, Floaties should be worn.

Absolutely.

I take the 5,6,7 year olds to the beach. They don't go in the water alone. I wouldn't trust them with a 15 year old to watch them either.
We stay in a 10 or 15 foot radius in the water, and we don't go over waist or chest at worst.
For ppl that grow up in the ocean, I'm sure it's different. The undercurrent is pretty strong.

So you would willingly die for every individual on earth? You don`t have to be willing to die to help someone out or even save their life you know.

I knew you weren`t as righteous as you pretended to be. At some point, self-preservation and logic have to win out over Self-Destruction and reactionary irrationalism.

I never claimed or "pretended" to be self righteous. There are graduations of evil as well as goodness. I would not save Charles Mason from drowning. I would save an innocent child.

How can you accurately assess and determine if a child is innocent or not before you save it?

How can you accurately assess and determine if a child is innocent or not before you save it?
Are you serious? What would a 3 or 5 year old be guilty of? Before the age of say, 10 yrs(it varies), a child is still in a state of innocence. They lack that vanity and self awareness that one gets certainly by the time of puberty. A three year old has not developed that three dimensions that a person develops as they spend some time on this earth: Your public life, your private life, and your secret life. Or as T.S. Eliot put it: "To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet."
With a child, what you see is what you get. No pretense or phony affectations.
You're a thinking man -- or at least try to be. And it seems that many thinking men go through a state of existential nihilism in this modern age where life seems to be devoid of any and all transcendent meaning. It comes as no surprise. Just don't play games with yourself and lie to yourself and needlessly obfuscate an issue.
"How can you accurately assess and determine if a child is innocent or not before you save it?"
PLEASE!
"Throughout my career in emergency medicine I have been amazed at the human capacity for self-delusion; we are the only animal in nature that can lie to itself. We do it so well that the majority of people are totally unaware of what motivates their actions, most people do not act to achieve consciously named goals; rather, they act to placate subconscious psychological value conflicts."

I have not. But I have seen the Omen. Granted, there are exceptions to demonic possessions. But unless a child knowingly and willingly embraces the power of Satan he is still innocent.
In virtually every facet in life we play the odds. There is always a chance that the drowning child I save is in fact an instrument of Satan but I feel the chances are not likely. Besides, Satan, at least my understanding of the Prince of Darkness, looks out for his own. I mean, Sev and DevilSmile are healthy as Clydesdale horses; whereas it appears my dear marty31672 has sadly departed from this realm.
