Great stuff Bombz. I wish I could find some stuff from Dorian on Diet, both contest prep and offseason.. Seems like there is a bunch of shit out there with his name on it that I cant tell if its ghostwritten or not. Some of the stuff from flex contradicts the "real" stuff I find and doesnt even sound like him. lol.

the guy was his own experiment and did quite well with it,no guru, just locked himself in his gym and didn't emerge until he was done with pushing the genetic limits.
-
Dorian rules.

Dorian will always be my favorite Mr. O. He was the first one I saw as a teenager when I picked up a mag and videos.
Hardness like no other and incredible back. I like his attitude towards training also...Long live the King. 8)

Nope...Yates is awesome....Although not the best Mr. O physique, I like the hardcore attitude....Oh yeah, I forgot the best calves ever also...
You know how it is when you're young bloke. You're very impressionable and that's what Dorian did for me. I remember as a kid doing everything I could to get my lats wider to be like Yates... ::)...Oh brother.
Have I been critical of him in the past? Yes. Why? Because people were comparing him to Ronnie and I feel in sheer mass and quality, there is no comparison. Dorian had Ronnie on calves, hardness, triceps and back thickness and Ronnie had Dorian in size, shape, separation and every other bodypart.
For his time from 93-96. Dorian was a God.

ronnie had a better body and so did flex, levrone, nasser, etc..
that doesnt matter though
dorian knows his shit

Ronnie did
Flex did but never showed up in shape so really he didn't
Levrone didn't Levrone is overrated btw
Nasser didn't...Nasser was business in the front, party in the back.
-
i wonder if the guy on the left does slow controlled squats with perfect form ::)

levrone did, he had more wow factor and no weaknesses. nasser did, again moire wow factor, easily beat dorian from the front, and barely lost from the back.

cmon man... I like you bu barely lost from the back? He was slaughtered from th back. Anythig else is just wishful thinking at it's worst.

The main reason why I like DY is his approach to training. So many pros just go in the gym and throw around the weights. At least with Dorian, you sensed a methodical approach to his training. More "scientific" than the other pros. You can tell he thought about his workouts. Guys like Branch Warren are a shame. Stupid idiot. Grunting, and throwing weights around in the gym like a moron. I even respect Ronnie's training. He isn't a moron like Branch.
Damn, does Branch annoy the hell out of me when he trains. All drugs right there.
-
iow ouldnt call it scientific, just well thought out. people who take a "scientific" approach generally miss the point. dorian seems to have came up with all of his ideas through trial and error. while i dont necessarily agree with everything he has to say about failure and frequency, all of his thoughts on workout selection, proper form, techniques to better work a msucle.. all golden.
-
What do you guys think about his opinion on decline press over flat bench press?

I wouldn't call it scientific either, thus why I put it in quotes ::) Plus, trial-and-error behavior is part of the scientific method. Finding out what works and doesn't work, etc. So, if you wanted to get technical, his approach was scientific. However, I am delving into semantics now :D

Wiggs likes it hard and from the back. :-\

Wiggs likes it hard and from the back. :-\
I've never had anything from the back and don't have any plans to.
-
Its really suprising that Wiggs being a Black Jew says Dorian was one of the best all time. I guess you cant call Wiggs a racist.
-

Ronnie Coleman speaks very highly of Yates as does Flex and Levrone and Vic Richards

I always like Dorian, seems like a good bloke, But I wished Flex took Dorian's mindset...
I just didn't like Dorian's physique, but you couldn't say he lacked muscle shape, size and detail.
