For me it was the first two bodybuilders I have ever seen up to that point..Incredible Hulk (Lou F.) and Conan (Arnold)..ever since then I wanted to look like them. I remember my parents laughing at me when I was about 7yrs old cause I swore every time I got angry I got really strong and even turned a little bit green  ;D

I was the little kid in school, usually in the bottom 10% of a class.  My parents were the naysaying namby pamby types; "you'll shoot your eye out with that dumbbell"

I started out in my basement with the most primitive garage style barbell, a couple of plastic encased 8 pounders, some knowledge of pushups and a treadmill.  I had no fucking clue what I was doing, I just knew I didn't want to be a D&D playing virgin like my brother for the rest of my life.

My grandfather. He came from a dirt-poor background, so no money for gyms, or even dumbbells. But he just wandered around the docks looking for heavy objects (anchors, barrels, coils of mooring cable, ...) to lift. And also taking jobs loading ships, carrying bags of grain or cement onto vessels. He was never big (150, tops) but tough as nails. Last feat he ever did: helping my father pave a garden path. Seeing this (then) 88-y.o. frail man, weighing around 120, carrying 50-Lb paving stones was awesome to see.

Most bad-ass injury: tore an anterior delt clean off while doing dumbbell military presses at age 86-87. With 35 Lbs, mind you, which was over 25% his bodyweight at the time! RIP, tough guy.

He's clearly my biggest influence. I've got a baby pic of me standing in a bathtub, doing a front double bi pose. That must have come from him. :)

I got myself into lifting - there was no one "person" who inspired me, certainly no-one whom I knew personally.
