Do you guys eat these? If so how do you cook them?
I just picked up a bag of frozen tuna steaks, will probalby pan-fry some tomorrow...never tried them before but looking forward to it as I love tuna sashimi and hope there's some similarity as you can cook these rare.
Their nutritional info looks pretty good, per 5 oz steak it reads 150 calories, 33 protein, and 1.5 fat. Pretty protein dense, especially for seafood.

i would just be careful of where they are from
you dont want some crappy farm raised trash from vietnam or something

If that's the way you like it, then you probably want to slap it on a HOT grill for a moment on each side. Try marinading them beforehand.

The biggest mistake I think people make when preparing tuna steaks is overcooking them.
The taste and texture is best when cooked as described above.
If it almost looks raw to you when done, it's probably just right.

yu, just a light coat of oil, hot gril,pinch of salt and black pepper. I alos like to girll it with s light sesame seed coating.

That's it like everyone says. Get your pan or grill hot as shit. Lube up the steaks with canola oil, not olive oil because it will burn and slap the tuna down one minute a side. That's it, nothing more. Squirt some lemon and enjoy. One thing, when you thaw it out just fill your sink with ice cold water and submerge the steaks still wrapped in plastic for about an hour. Doesn't take longer than that to thaw a tuna steak. If you overcook it, the steak will taste and feel like the canned shit.

I haven't liked tuna steaks in the past because I have found them to be too dry, but I think grilling would work better than the pan.

Did you order them at a restaurant or cook them yourself?
There's a good chance they were simply cooked for too long regardless of the method.
Overcooked tuna steak is worse than overcooked beef steak IMO.
Watch how they prepare them on some of the cooking shows to get a good idea of how they should look when done.

I tried cooking them myself. I also liked the sashimi and ahi tuna salads, but whenever I tried to pan fry myself it didn't turn out very well.
You are probably right....they were tough and dry. I have stuck tilapia, orange roughy, and salmon ever since.

I don't know if the Foreman can get hot enough ??? The secret to a tuna steak is a hot pan/grill.
