I can't disagree, Dusty was smart to hire Chris for his prep. Both guys have structural flaws so I think you could have tossed a coin to be honest.

The ab comparison in the front relaxed shot is ridiculous. Tight waist with symmetrical abs vs wide waist with ugly abs.

Holy shit bodybuilding is pathetic these days.

oh my the proportions, symmetry and definition is so awesome on this fella
no distended gut? this is a good physique

good point. i did the Canadian nationals in 91 and i think i was better than this guy.
i gotta ask- wtf- why are the guys we are seeing today not even close to some of the physiques to come out of the nats in the very late 80's and early 90's?
especially considering the wide spread availability of cheaper GH?
look at competitors from those days- the muscle had a different look- more dense it seemed. some guys back then just looked thicker and more solid. like they could move a shit load of weight. scroll thru the pics of a nat level show lately. guys dont look like that anymore. when was the last time you saw a guy who looked like paul demayo in a nationals line up- like someone who can deadlift your car and overhead press it? guys like jim quinn, mike francois, eddie robinson, arron baker, craig titus, phil hernon etc ietc. there are a lot of guys holding a lot of muscle, but they don't have that look, you know? no disrespect to dusty hanshaw- he represents himself well and appears to be a class act- but when you look at him i just think 'big'. not powerful.
is it because guys today are relying on drugs to build their bodies from early on in their lifting careers due to the availability compounds?
its the only thing i can think of. maybe guys back in the day moved heavy weight for years before starting, got their foundations down. we all know you can look like a nat level guy without some serious polypharmacy, so they guys of yesteryear and today are all running big numbers, but why the difference in the quality of physique?
honestly i agree with you. the physiques of that time were better. and its not cause that was 'our era'. they just were.

well obviously no one is really training or dieting much different............so it can only logically be attributed to the drugs
the GH back then was all legitimate that the top bodybuilders were using............all pharma grade...........alot of guys these days are usin g that chinese garbage, which does work, but gives the body a slightly different look
same thing with the juice........back then it was all pharma grade.............now most of these guys are making their own shit, (i know many nat level guys who buy the materials themselves)............and again while it does work........the physique it produces is slightly less quality then the shit back in the day
so those two things......combined with probably and over-reliance on insulin, particularly at the pre contest time.............and some other questionable compounds and peptides...............y ou get physiques that just are not the quality they once were...............
if you notice, its usually the heavy and super heavy weights that are havin gthis problem...........a lot of the smaller guys still look quality............again, probably due to the insulin and mega-dosing of shitty gear
and one more thing..........in the 80s to the early 90s bodybuilding was riding a wave of popularity...........so with that being said.................way more people were into bodybuilding............ ..so there was a larger pool of people to pick the best out of. now a days practically no one is into it

Maybe they fall into complicated diets...gurus....overdoi ng cardio, t3, dnp...
Maybe its too much machine work or going "lighter" in their training precontest...
More fake drugs around.
who knows.
There are exceptions though.

i never tried gh or insulin til i met Milos in 99. back in 91 i trained like my life depended on it. my longest cycle was 12 weeks at that point. but i benched 4 plates for sets and reps every monday and thursday for over a year prior to that show. and did it right to 2 weeks out. squats every tuesday and friday as heavy as i could for 10-15 reps. and cardio for hours. nobody trains even close to that. i was better in 99 with a third the training and lighter weights. i know guys now doing the nationals and they miss over half their workouts because every major bodypart hurts from injections. sad. these two pics are 1999. first one 2 weeks out at 5'9" 240 lb. second pic on stage at 226 lb. didn't even finish top 5 in Canada.

dont confuse veins with quality,,many gym rats that blow up top 235 240 then on stage look like shadow of themselves being 205 pounds of shit ,,many! they have no clue to the use of drugs and how to time it now thats why they look like shit when getting ready for show,,hazbin could not turn professional because his physiqe was the type of physiqe that blow up on hormones but dont blow up the right way meaning waist fuck it up while upper and lower body didnt blow up right ,,shear muscle by itself get you no where in bodybuilding ,,the rest gotta be there too,,you gota be able to be round and look round ,,too squary and yuo go into the fitness section modeling zone,,muscle roundness and fulness is very important and always there with the fellas who end up turning professional all that whie keeping WAIST TIGHT AND SMALL in proportion ofcourse
the diff between today and then is only drugs,,now they use bunk shit and have no control over powders then they used only humasn grade and vet grade,,the ones who have approach to real human grade now end up winning,,ofcourse if they know what they are doing which is quite important

as gh15 said before,,pics dont tell the whole story but even in those pics yo ucan clearly tell if yuo know anything abourt your cult ,,that 1 you were addicted to hormones,,2 your pecs were lacking big time,,your arms were too flat on stage and off stage ,,you had too much of a squary amaturish look,,only thing that yuo had for you is the veins ,,oh those you have,,but as yo ucan tell with jason veins means absolutely nothings its purly genetics ,,your waist eventhough tight on stage coudnt sta6y tight enouh and or small enough while remaining full in the arms chest which ofcourse is your weorst body part ,,you just look exactly like100 other amatuers who place 12th in nationals,,i personaly worked with 190 lb fellas who wipe the fllor with you even at higher body fat due to better frames
intimidating mustage and veins do not make a winner my friend,,
nor does a fella that stand 240 in the gym and then on stage look flat and too squary ,,gym buddies are 0plenty to be found ,,on stage is where it counts,,the ones who walk around in gym 225 and go on stage 210 yet maintain the fulness and rouness while etting in condition those are the ones who turn pros my friendly friend,,i did it you havent

i agree with a few things you say. i never took competition seriously after 91 and never did what it took to be pro. i never competed 2 years in a row for one thing, and that will gaurentee you wont win a pro card. you unfortunately back nothing you say, and act like you know everything, which immediately removes any credibility. like when there was a pic of me and you 'knew for sure' i was on prohormones. well the pic was from 1981 when i was a teen, and i'm pretty sure prohormones weren't produced until mid 90's. but you knew for sure i was on them.

What do you think about Matthew Lowden's winning at 2010 NPC Junior Nationals ?
Thanks
