Road test of the 599 GTO,
Ferrari Conservative estimate: 0-60, 3.35 secs. Reality, around 3 secs.
Now the original 599 had a detuned 6.0 liter Enzo engine, same engine was modded to 720 for the 599Xx, same engine as Enzo derived FXX. Then engine was detuned for the 599 GTO.
Enjoy:
And here is a non related 599 GTO vid, check the black one with grey top.

Different color scheme
Sidenote:sounds like Bebel Gilberto in the background
contrast it with the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS

The 599 is amazing, but I just cant get over the ugly rear end.

Actually the rear end harkens back to the 250 GT (SWB) and 275 GTB from the late 50s early 60s, and so the the 458 Italia has it as well. It's just different that the twin round lights we are used to seeing
Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid coming soon...

Just one more paycheck and I can afford a 599.
-
I would take Corvette ZR1 over every other sport car ;)
-
Why would you buy a car with a detuned engine !!? that's f*cked up, a car company has to purposely downgrade an engine so it's not as fast as their overpriced flagship car....messed up.

Well, the Zr1 is bangin---but for 3/4ths of a 599 XX, the 599 GTO is far more of a bargin...plus you smell leather not glue. I really like the limited edition Z06 that comes with ZR1 bits and hood, black rims and only in blue or orange...

They had to detune it Capt Eq, the 599 XX was a production derived "race" car---actually it was a rolling testbed. It had fans in the trunk to suck air from under the defuser to exit out where the rear lights were, it had wignlets, and F1 style Donuts covering the brakes, plus the GTO had to meet Euro and Worldwide regulations

The 599 originally had a detuned Enzo engine, they did it because the car is a "GT" or Gran Tourismo car, one that combines sport and luxury...as of 2009-2010, they took it out of that class, they had the greenlight to make it into a sports cars, thus the 599 GTO was born...and they even have a hybrid version that may come out

Fair enough, but you know what I was getting at ... cars with the same engines that are 'detuned' so as not to be as fast as the flagship model that costs $50,000 more...

Well, Ferrari has mandated that no car shall surpassed the Enzo until it's replacement...the Ferrari 430 Scuderia already is as fast on the Firano track as the Enzo and the 458 can "surpass" it, but Ferrari management has dictated no car shall pass it, so they sandbag figures (remember I said 3.35 is a lie)

Yep, hybrids have been thought as a very useful tool for high performance. That is why Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Audi are all going to produce either hybrids or electic sports cars.

ahhh, blacks and their love for shinny things they cant afford,
silly kneegrows!

Ahhh, the Ferrrari isn't "shinny", nor is it really shiny....I don't like rims, nor do I believe you can afford it a well. And why can't one be a enthusiast of cars, of the engineering....think you are a site worhipping huge muscular men....chances are something you'll never be
silly thing worshipper!

Yeah, forgot...they have a SLS version.
Thing is a electric car has instantaneous torque...and gobs of it. And a hybrid can capture energy from the brake's friction and use it---so that is a win-win situation.
