Title: Another thing about Gluten (Explain)
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on July 06, 2010, 07:14:51 AM
I don't eat Gluten, (rarely).  I use natural deodorant and it works good, but I've noticed that whenever I do eat gluten, within a day I need stronger deodorant and I get a strange buildup (that feels waxy) all over my skin (especially on my back).

Can any of you geniuses please explain this?

I wonder why it's the same people who are "gluten free" who also have fibro myalgia (sp)?  they are usually obese, middle-aged women.

I'm not really "big boned" anymore.  The gluten didn't effect my body fat +/- any that I can tell, although I do think I have a serious allergy to it.

Why?  What are the symptoms bro?

I think for a guy, the symptoms are watching Glee and driving a Prius.

Why?  What are the symptoms bro?

Watching Glee, driving an environmentally friendly car, constipation, acne, soar joints, dehydrated feeling, bad breath, bloating, waxy feeling on my skin/strange body odor (the next day) and fatigue.  I know this might sound like an exaggeration but it isn't.  My siblings have the exact same symptoms.  I don't know if it's Celiac Disease (haven't been tested) or what...

Gluten Free products are the newest scam to con and cater to an uneducated and fearful public.  I can`t believe so many are duped into this nonsense via self-diagnosis.  I guess everybody wants to have a disease and it does not help that humans are a paranoid species.

Hopefully this nonsense will go the way all fads do and just disappear.

I was scheduled to be tested for Celiac Disease, but I canceled considering the dramatic changes I experience on and off Gluten.

Its useless to self-diagnose given the power of Placebo and especially the Nocebo effect.  Also given the fact that this disease occurs in not even one percent of the Population it is HIGHLY unlikely that you have anything the matter with you.  Get a proper screening and do not self diagnose.

I'll do that and let you know how it goes.  The symptoms for me are extreme, I love food, so you've got to know that it took something extreme to get me to limit my diet like this.

It's also possible that the build up is from the inflammation caused by a gluten allergy. Wax builds up in response to the activation of the immune system (lymphatic stimulation) and the skin is a detoxifying organ. Possible, don't self-diagnose but do try an elimination diet, just pull a couple things out of your diet here and there and see how you feel.
