One of the best movies of all time = taxi driver.

One of the greatest actors of all time. They don't make them like that anymore. Another one from that generation was Al Pacino. I can't think of anyone nowadays that can inspire and give you goose bumps. When they were on the intensity was mind numbing. Remember this scene from ScarFace?

Good pellius Scarface another great one.

Is it just me or is Al Pacino purposely doing movies now doing a parody of himself? It's like he can't help but over act... He will be remembered as one of the greats, but lately...

I remember Heat was embarrassing. Even Wayne Grow showed him up.

Scarface is one of the MOST OVERRATED movies of all time. Nothing, literally nothing special about...

Man I rented Scarface and kept rewinding it to hear how Pacino talked. I was up for the part of Serrano in the film Major League. I needed to sound Cuban with that accent. I must have listened and practiced for a few days. The scene I had to audition was when he was praising that little idol he had in his locker. Anyway, I sucked. I just couldn't get it down. Dennis Hasbert ended up getting it. I love that movie.

Well, maybe back in your days it has had it's moment. But it's definetely a movie which hasn't aged well at all. ;)

Raging Bull..good middle weight body. He gained 30lbs shooting the final scenes of that flick.

Outstanding movie was Raging Bull.

i agree, Pacino was great in earlier times but starting with Heat all his characters have been annoying. i fucking hated his character in Heat, probably the biggest douchebag of all time, i was just begging for DeNiro to blast his guts out.

Couldn't disagree with you more, my friend. The intensity Pacino exuded in that movie was insane.
Agree with others about some of his later stuff as not so good. Could be the material nowadays but still a great actor. De Niro is my all time favorite though.

Come on, this does nothing for you? "I always tell the truth, even when I lie..., So say goodnight to the bad guy... make way for the bad guy, there's a bad guy coming through...."
LOL! One of the greatest walk out scenes IMO.

Good early Deniro movie

Lots of unshaved bush in Mean Streets.
Also, nice gruesome ending with Deniro getting capped in the neck.

As great as Pacino is/was, Deniro is/was in another league.

Way to get your facts VERY wrong. Deniro gained 60 pounds for Raging Bull, NOT 30 pounds.

Good Early Joe Pesci movie (criminally underground and underrated): The Death Collector (1975) (aka: Family Enforcer):
-
Pacino's character in HEAT was supposed to be an overly hyped up cop, potentially a coked up cop who didnt sleep or have anytine for family. All he did was chase crooks all day and all night. No sleep or food.. Just an over obsession with his job.
He was supposed to be a bit annoying.

This is a cool picture, what was he like? Did he get upset about the size of his hands then punch everyone in the face, then feel bad and say sorry?

CGI has made todays actors weak, no need to act with emotion and character drive anymore, the CGI will fix it for you. ::)

Good!? It's superb, my friend. Watch and enjoy my favourite scene. :)

I remember that. De Niro was great. I didn't really like when he got into comedy but when it came to gangsters and alienated killers he always nailed it. Like Pacino I don't really like any of De Niro's recent stuff unless I'm missing something. I'm out of the loop when it comes to movies.
Anyone remember "Once Upon a Time in America"? Another little known classic with De Niro, James Woods, Joe Pesci, Burt Young and directed by Sergio Leone. Movies really suck now and it's been years since I've gone to the theatre.

This is correct.
In the original script Pacino was suppose to be a cocaine addict, but stuido execs forced Michael Mann to make Pacino a clean cop. It could be suggested Pacino's character is a coke addict though.

I won't argue with that.

Watching a Pacino movie these days it's hard to believe the guy you're seeing is the same one who was The Godfather. He looks like a old lesbian, with that hair and the squawking. De Niro got old and doesn't seem to be trying any more. I suppose he doesn't have anything else to prove.
Leone's film is good stuff. The early NYC street scenes are aces, and that enigmatic smile/fadeout is weird.

He was very very nice and cool. he was there with his daughter who was stunning. I sat between him and Ali at dinner. I talked to Jake more than anyone else there. He really liked my hand size. I remember we were walking down the hall with Ali and I turned to Jake and said that I felt sorry for him (Ali). He said something like "don't feel sorry for him, he has had a life like no one else". He really wanted me to make sure I didn't show Ali I felt sorry for him., That night is one of the most (if not the most) memorable nights in my entire life. I was a "special" Guest of Honor at the event which was the induction of Muhammed Ali, Eder Joffre, Jake LaMotta and a couple others I can't remember into the World Boxing Hall of Fame. It was awesome

I never boxed (competively anyways). the funny thing is at this event Eddie Futch came up to me and introduced himself to me. he said "I saw you fight in FLorida and you hit fucking hard as anyone" Inside me I wanted to tell him the truth but all I said was "thanks man". I have no idea who he thought I was.

not even there believe me. When I look at what others have done I haven't shit in comparison. I tell you guys of the stuff I have done cause I figure it fits into the thread somehow. It sounds a whole lot more than it really is. I think I have done some pretty neat things that not many can say they have done but I don't even come close to what some of my other friends have done. But, I do admit some of the stuff I have done is pretty fucking cool and this whole night with Ali and LaMotta is definitely something I love to brag about cause it really was one of the most memorable times I have ever had in my life. I just wish the past 10 years wasn't so boring and shitty or I would have more up to date stories.

I have a friend who was security for a casino out in Vegas in the 70's. He guarded the penthouse floor for some of his time. He has a lot of stories about the big names of the time, with pictures of him with enough big names to lend support to his stories. He tells the stories not so much in the way that HE is special for having hung out with them, but that he was in awe of the fact he got to hang out with them. One of his favorite memories was playing pinball all night with Dean Martin.
I am always up to hear peoples "brush with fame" stories as long as it doesn't cross over the obnoxious name dropping bragger line that some tend to cross. I don't get that vibe at all from anyone here.

Exactly. I am sure most everyone on here has met or seen a celebrity in person or someone they idolized as a kid. I think (or hope) at least everytime I post a story that involves a celebrity it at least has some relation to the thread I have posted in. I don't mean or want to randomly post stories like that without some kind of lead-in into my story. `One thing I really try to do is just post stories about people I have worked with and not just seen or saw walking by or at the same place as me. I also try to only tell stories I can at least back up with a photo or something. I am kind of proud of my past and what I have done and regardless of what some people say about quit talking about my past. I have to tell you that what I have done in my past to this day gets me contracts and closes the deal for me. It is my past accomplishments that the people and business's I do business with today are impressed with and shows what I can do.
