Title: Petition for a ban on obligatory small talk
Post by: Agnostic007 on July 11, 2010, 08:38:46 AM
Every morning I arrive at work.. pass people in the hall and the ritual begins..

"Morning, how are you?"

"Morning, good, and you?"

"Good"

"Thats Great"

Repeat numerous times..

No one really cares how I am, I don't really care how they are. But years of conditioning has left me where if I don't ask, don't respond, I'm a jerk..

Most of the time, most days, I'm a sociable animal. I have just recently grown annoyed with meaningless small talk that neither party gives a crap about... I wonder if I should just buy a T-shirt that says "I'm fine thanks" and just point to it as I walk down the hall..

I've learned not to say Good morning to attractive  and moody women. I let them speak first.  Many women today view you saying "Good Morning" as a sign of weakness (like you want to talk to them ::))
I am very sociable and most of the time I do care how people are doing...hell, it affects their performance...

Is there any way this could only take effect when I'm high. If I'm not I have no problem saying high or hello  ;D

Next time when someone says good morning, just stop and give them a full muscular.  That will tell them to stay the fuck back

I love smalltalk - especially with folks I don't like... it's a game.

I hate it too. Not that I'm unsociable or anything it's just meaningless small talk. I'm not always good but that is always my response when asked. I want to reply one day like " I'm mad I had to wake up early and instead of doing something I really wanted to do today I came to this shithole because I have conformed to society's rules."  I'm pretty sure they would think twice before they decided to engage in small talk with me again :D

Allow me.

This is why they invented "'morning."  Polite enough not to snub, curt enough not to invite further conversation.  Follow it with "and I take my coffee black" to drive home how much more important you are than the individual who dared to address you and the fact that they are, without question, your inferior.  And then they blow you.
