Blasts at 2 sites in Uganda kill at least 30
(AP) – 37 minutes ago
KAMPALA, Uganda — Bombs exploded at two sites in Uganda's capital late Sunday as people watched the World Cup final on TV, killing at least 30 people. Foreigners, including Europeans and possibly Americans, were believed to be among the casualties.
Police Chief Kale Kaihura said he believed that Somalia's most feared militia — al-Shabab, which has pledged loyalty to al-Qaida — could be behind the attacks.
One of the bombs went off at an Ethiopian restaurant in Kampala, Uganda's capital. Al-Shabab views Ethiopia as an enemy. The second blast went off at a restaurant called the Kyadondo Rugby Club.
Kaihura said 14 people were killed at the restaurant, and that he believed the toll at the Rugby Club was far higher than 14, though he did not have an exact number.
At the scenes of the two blasts chairs were overturned. Blood and pieces of flesh littered the floor.
Al-Shabab is Somalia's most dangerous militant group, one that militant veterans of the Afghan, Pakistan and Iraq conflicts have helped train, according to international officials.
If Kaihura's early suspicions that al-Shabab was responsible prove true, it would be the first time the group has carried out attacks outside of Somalia.
In Mogadishu, Sheik Yusuf Sheik Issa, an al-Shabab commander, told The Associated Press early Monday that he was happy with the attacks in Uganda. Issa refused to confirm or deny that al-Shabab was responsible for the bombings.
"Uganda is one of our enemies. Whatever makes them cry, makes us happy. May Allah's anger be upon those who are against us," Sheik said.
During prayers on Friday, another al-Shabab commander, Sheik Muktar Robow, had called for militants to attack sites in Uganda and Burundi — two nations that contribute troops to the African Union force in Mogadishu.
In addition to its troops in Mogadishu, Uganda also hosts Somali soldiers trained in U.S. and European backed training programs.
Kenya's foreign minister, Moses. M. Wetangula, told The Associated Press last week that enough veteran militants from the Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan conflicts have relocated to Somalia to spark worry inside the international community.
International militants have flocked to Somalia because the country's government controls only a few square miles of the capital, Mogadishu, leaving most of the rest of the country lawless territory where insurgents can train and plan attacks unimpeded.
Somali President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed on Saturday appealed for the international community to do more to help his country fight al-Qaida linked militants. There are currently about 6,000 African Union peacekeepers in the country.
Associated Press reporters Mohamed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu, Somalia, and Jason Straziuso in Nairobi, Kenya, contributed to this report.

Hahahaha, can't wait to hear kcballer's justification of this atrocity. Remember he jumped all over Christianity when a family fought over the TV during this World Cup and one person ended up dying. I suspect he'll be silent, as per usual. ::)
So, along with music, freedom of speech, women's rights and a litany of others rights/luxuries the "misunderstanders" of Islam hate, sports also falls into that category. Good to know.

thats terrible. RIP

I understand that “not all Muslims are terrorists.”
But, read Sheik’s quote:
"Uganda is one of our enemies. Whatever makes them cry, makes us happy. May Allah's anger be upon those who are against us."
By bringing the Muslim god into this matter (in this context), he’s essentially acting as a representative of Muslims - implying that these violent acts are the will of Muslims & Islam.
So, why don’t we see Muslims standing up and denouncing these actions?
Why don’t they try to distance themselves from this kind of rhetoric?
Maybe they don't oppose it?
Maybe they condone it?
Maybe they support it?
Maybe - secretly - ALL Muslims feel & think this way regarding terroristic attacks against other people???

They're a progressive and modern country. Between their executing homosexuals, stoning women and now raping and murdering women for not wearing an article of clothing, I can't help but laugh at the fact that the UN continues to give this country's government a podium from which to launch their rambling tirades against the West.

Funny how kc jumped all over the story of a father dying in a Christian family scuffle over whether to watch the World Cup or a sermon on the TV and yet he's been oddly silent on the 50+ people that have now died at the hands of Islamists that have a problem with everything, including sports now. How pathetic.

SAMSON's in complete denial that this shit even goes on. She thinks it's all fabricated disinformation. Oddly though, she'll post any other type of BS right off the internet.

That's a lot of fabricating by a lot of people.

???? I think you're high or something.
-
No, just pointing out your nonsense in the face of daily outrages by the vermin who worship the pedophile prophet in the sky, piss and pigs blood be upon him.
-
Over 64 dead now. Not a word of condemnation from the "moderate" Muslims or the leftists. But they find time to riot across the world when a cartoon of their pedophile prophet is drawn. How surprising. ::)
Must be ignoring it because they can't blame this on America. :-X

Palins' fault!
No doubt. Curse those American aid workers down in Uganda. I'm sure they're to blame for this.

I'm sure KC and Danny will point to some obscure event that took place 2000 years ago from Christians upset at the Roman Chariot races. ::) ::)
-
Maybe this is their version of "penalty kicks".
Seriously, it would be great for someone to invent a device that sends out electronic pulses that interact with the suicide bombs and denoted them before the fools can leave their hide outs.

haha oh BF you're obsessed. I posted about the christian related death to prove that just because one person is evil or does evil does not mean all followers of the same faith are the same way.
I have never 'justified' any atrocities. I've advocated always for the rooting out of evil and the destruction of the taliban and other groups of hatred.
However, i don't jump to the conclusion that all muslims are somehow implicit or evil just because some are. This may shock you but there are peaceful muslims in the world who are just as appalled as you and i at these acts in the so called name of Islam. It's an evil that must be stopped and i have faith that one day it will.

I am curious, did these guys kill ONLY people of other religions specifically or they also killed their own people. The reason is that once they killed their own Muslim brothers the "Muslim religion of hate and murder" theory goes out the window and it makes the situation looks like some RADICALIZED EXTREMISTS Muslim motherfuckers killed a whole bunch of people REGARDLESS of their religious affiliation.

Ive asked that same question many many times bro, you dont see other muslims coming out and condemning these actions and ppl wonder why there is animosity towards muslims in general...

I understand your hypothesis, but...
Committing and/or celebrating atrociously violent acts against anyone in the name of your god/religion constitutes direct religious affiliation.
-
Whether they agree with it, condone it, or are too cowardly to openly oppose it, they are all equally suspect in this. If anyone did crap like this in the name of italo-americans, I would be leading marches against this, etc.
Islam = a cult of submission.

"Uganda is one of our enemies. Whatever makes them cry, makes us happy. May Allah's anger be upon those who are against us."
This really makes it out that “Allah” is on their side.
Hence, whatever makes Allah happy makes them happy - including the suffering, death, and destruction of other people by anyone’s hand.
This is the will of Allah and Islam?
Again, is there any true, peace-loving Islamist on here who will denounce the actions of these hyper-violent extremist scum?
Are there any peaceful Muslim members on this site who will come forward and confirm that the radical religious beliefs of Sheik & co. are not representative of the entire religion?
Don’t label me as an Islamophobe - these are not rhetorical questions.
I legitimately would like to know.
And I only want answers from members of the Muslim faith - not Islamic sympathizers who are likely extrapolating in their accounts.
I want just ONE Islamist to come forward and openly denounce the above actions.
-
Islam = cult of death of Allah, piss, pigs blood and puke be upon him.
-
Or, I’ll also consider if anyone can provide a link to a site or source of a real Muslim publicly denouncing any recent terror strikes launched by Muslim extremist groups.
Thanks.

kcballer i agree there are some peaceful muslims in the world. but when the majority stay silent will they matter in the end?
what are your thoughts on this --

It's not the religion of peace. It's the religion of pieces--pieces of bodies, pieces of buildings, pieces of cars. May the real God bring the perpetrators to swift justice.

Who are you talking about? The RADICALIZED muslims ( in which case I DO AGREE with you) or muslims in general? In which case tell that to the families or all people killed by these fuckers and see what their answer will be ;)

If I was a muslim Id hate non muslims as well.Look at the absolute crap we send over to the middle east as far as our culture goes.It goes against everything they believe in.If we would just get the fuck out of there, enforce our borders we would be a lot better off.

I'm not going to. I want to hear it from you ,even though there's no need actually since you made it pretty clear you hate muslims, I wanna hear you say you don't give a fuck about those poor people killed by these idiots and you put them in the same boat with their killers. :-\

Following a death cult like islam makes one more prone to that happening. Sort of like people walking about pit bulls all day vs people walking around with labrador retrievers.

American killed in Uganda was dedicated to service
By Chris Reinolds Kozelle
July 12, 2010 -- Updated 2306 GMT (0706 HKT)
(CNN) -- American Nate Henn, who was killed in the Uganda bomb blasts, advocated for the rights of children forced into fighting in the east African country, a California nonprofit group said Monday.
The 25-year-old former University of Delaware rugby player joined the nonprofit Invisible Children last year and spent much of his time as an unpaid volunteer, traveling with the group around the United States, said spokesman Jedidiah Jenkins. He became close friends with one of group's success stories -- a 20-year-old Ugandan named Innocent.
Henn had arrived to Uganda last week on his first visit to the country. "Now that he had shown Innocent his country, Innocent was going to show him his," Jenkins said.
Innocent, who was standing next to Henn at the time of the attack, survived the bombings, and tried to help Henn, who had been struck by shrapnel, Jenkins said.
The nonprofit organization works with Ugandan children affected by decades of war between rebels and government forces. Rebels abduct the victims -- referred to as invisible children -- and force them to fight the government. Some younger girls are forced into sex slavery.
Aid groups estimate tens of thousands of children have been abducted by one such group, the Lord's Resistance Army.
"These are some of our Ugandan students who fell in love with Nate's wit, strength, character and steadfast friendship," said a post on Invisible Children's website. "They gave him the Acholi name 'Oteka,' which means 'The Strong One.'"
Invisible Children Co-Founder Jason Russell said Henn was in Uganda to visit his relatives and work with the organization. On Monday, two Invisible Children's founders headed to Uganda to assist in returning the remains to his parents in North Carolina.
Henn, who lived in San Diego, California, joined Invisible Children through his sister's work with the organization.
He was staying in Uganda with his aunt and uncle who are missionaries and planned to meet up with the Invisible Children program later in the week. The program has now been postponed.
Brenda Kibler, Henn's longtime childhood friend and fellow church member, said she had e-mailed him after he arrived in Uganda last week, telling him she was thankful he was safe. The two took mission trips together in high school, including a visit to Peru.
"Nate was a very happy, friendly, outgoing person. He loved kids and he just loved people in general," said Kibler, who lives in Wilmington, Delaware. "He was always one of the first people to sign up for community outreach like Habitat for Humanity, missions, whatever."
Henn raised money among friends and family to travel to Uganda for a month -- a lifelong dream.
When they chatted last week, Henn told Kibler he wanted to continue working with charitable organizations.
"He was passionate for doing the work that the Lord did and helping people," Kibler said. "I know for a fact he would be proud to know he died, living the life that he did. And that people are proud of him and know for a fact that he lived a selfless life."
Henn -- a native of Raleigh, North Carolina -- had worked with the nonprofit for a year and a half and raised money to help educate Ugandan students affected by war.
Separately, Henn's brother was hospitalized Monday after being injured in a private plane crash at the airport in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, police and hospital officials said. Jenkins said the brother was aboard the plane of a family friend, en route to be with Henn's family.
At the time of the bombings, Henn was with some of the students he worked with, the group said. Henn is the only confirmed American fatality -- five other Americans were wounded, according to U.S. State
Department spokesman P.J. Crowley. The explosion killed at least 74 people, Ugandan officials said Monday. At least 85 people were injured, authorities said.
The three explosions Sunday ripped through two venues, where crowds were watching the World Cup in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. The first one struck an Ethiopian restaurant in a neighborhood dotted with bars and popular among expatriates; two were at a rugby sports center. Henn was watching the game at the rugby center, the organization said.

I knew that America was somehow the reason for these bombings. This children right's activist, along with the 73 others, had it coming. ::)
RIP to yet another innocent victim of the Islamist death machine.

Unexploded bomb vest found in Uganda; 4 arrested
KAMPALA, Uganda – Investigators found an unexploded suicide vest with ball bearings in a disco hall in Uganda's capital, suggesting that militants had planned a third bombing during the World Cup final, officials said Tuesday. Four foreign suspects were arrested in connection with the find.
The discovery of a suicide vest in a suburb of Kampala on Monday was consistent with what was seen at the two blast sites in Kampala, said the inspector general of police, Kale Kaihura. The vest contained ball bearings, as did the bombs that exploded Sunday. Officials believe suicide bombers took part in the twin blasts during the World Cup final.
"What we found here is consistent with what we found on both scenes of crime. And so this is a very significant lead in our investigation," Kaihura said.
Four people were arrested in connection with the discovery of the unexploded vest, said Edward Ochom, the director of criminal investigations. He said the four were not Ugandan but would not say their nationalities. Kale hinted that Somali nationals could be among those arrested.
Kaihura said a Ugandan militant group — the Allied Democratic Forces — may also have played a role in the attack. Like al-Shabab, the ADF is primarily a Muslim radical group.
The death toll from Sunday's attack rose to 76, Kaihura said. Officials found a bomb vest, detonator, wires and ball bearings in a bag at the disco similar to a laptop computer bag, he said.
Al-Shabab, Somalia's most dangerous militant group, claimed responsibility for the attacks. The Islamists are calling for Uganda to withdraw their African Union peacekeeping forces from Somalia.
The claim by al-Shabab, whose fighters are trained by militant veterans of the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, raises the security stakes in East Africa and has broader implications globally. The group in the past has recruited Somali-Americans to carry out suicide bombings in Mogadishu.
Al-Shabab, an ultra-conservative Islamic group that has drawn comparisons to the Taliban, has long threatened to attack outside of Somalia's borders, but the bombings late Sunday are the first time the group has done so.
"We warned Uganda not to deploy troops to Somalia, they ignored us," said Sheik Ali Mohamud Rage, al-Shabab's spokesman. "We warned them to stop massacring our people, and they ignored that. The explosions in Kampala were only a minor message to them. ... We will target them everywhere if Uganda does not withdraw from our land."
Rage said a second country with peacekeeping forces in Mogadishu — Burundi — could soon face attacks. Fighting in Mogadishu between militants and Somali troops or African Union peacekeepers frequently kills civilians.
The militants attacked two sites in Uganda's capital, one at an Ethiopian restaurant, the other at a rugby club where World Cup fans were watching the tournament's final at an outdoor screening.

Surprised they had the stones to identify al-Shabab as a "Muslim radical group" and not the typical "youth movement" the MSM runs with. ::)

Not if it happened here.
