Just finished watching it. So bizzarre to see Gumbel segway from Pete Carroll coaching USC to the NFL Seahawks .... and then seeing Gumbel interviewing female bodybuilders ...Collette Nielson, Dana Westerfiled and Lauren Powers.
Openly discussing steroid use and "muscle worship" too....anyone else catch it?

Just saw it, it was kinda strange seeing the topic of schmoes being covered on hbo and bryant gumbel!
It would be interesting moreso for someone who didnt know anything about female bodybuilding, but being a schmoe myself, it was nothing new.

i don't like gumball but i enjoy the show. he does many ground breaking interviews on the show. but i don't like his holier than thou attitude. that and he is a pompous idiot. when he did the freddie roac piece he asked the interviewer how is he fianacially as if he doesn't realize managing mega boxing champions equals big bucks.

Gumbel is a lousy fucking golfer. Tell him I said that. And tell him to stay away from the Sip Sip. Its killing his golf game.

why dose he not interview fbb ers that are relevant to the industry. Collette has not, if ever been ( if she is considered relevant it is because of her one time connection with palumbo) doctor d...oh my god why her and powers is not even a good national competitor much less a pro. interview the winners of the shows...iris kyle, cathy lefranfois, nicole ball. in mens bodybuilding you never see them interviewing the likes of jojo and jocilain peltier. interview the people that are relevant.

The girls you mentioned probably wouldnt interview because they didnt want to discuss what real sports wanted to, i.e, the drug use, the schmoes, the webcams, hotel room sessions etc etc.
Plus Collete is a well spoken intelligent girl, she did a good job on there.
-
yes she is. i like her alot as a humanbeing. but as a bodybuilder...not so much. i just wonder if powers, dr. d and the other staples of their interview pool know just how much they are hurting their sport. they are just self promoting schmo fodder

good point, gumball just wanted to present the weirdest ones he could find, collette is likeable but not very easy on the eyes.

It would of been nice to see the winners of female bodybuilders being interviewed, but he went for the ones that would provide the most 'story' lines and talk for his series. Hence, why a lot of promoters don't feel like mainstream producers making a story.
They are not looking for the positive, but a lot of the negatives.

sadly people, in general, prefer the negative stories. I suppose it gives them something to talk about.
-
I was really surprised they were talking about the usage of Steroids as openly as they did. I guess they figure everyone can see what is going on.

they said it in the opening , real sports where nothing is out of bounds. but you knew right off the tone this segment was gonna take by gumballs attitude towards the subject matter. i would have liked to see that old hag put gumball's melon in a headlock. now that would have been priceless.

why would anyone with 1/2 A BRAIN SHOW THEIR STEROIDS/DRUGS ON TV AND SAY WHERE THEY GET IT FROM?
