Awesome. Maybe the next time the black panthers show up with billy clubs to an election, they will get a reality check when they see people carrying AR's.

if the blank panthers were marching down the streem armed with assault rifle to show support of a candidate of their choice you'd be the first one to make a post bitching about it

No, I would go hand out applications to the NRA and seek common ground on the 2nd amendment and trash the left wing gun grabbers.

for some reason I have a hard time believing that

I've read it
it's not very complicated
the right wing/tea bag message isn't complicated either
do you really think it is so nuanced and abstruse that people just can't understand and that's why they don't vote for teabag/repub candidate?

lol your original post was about right wing candidates...are all right wing candidates tea party members? and are all tea party members right wing ppl? no they are not
so apparently the ins and outs of this situation are a tad bit out of your comprehension... ::) ::) ::)

Yeah, the difference is these people were not harassing, intimidating, deterring, or otherwise threatening people as the Panthers did.
And, even if it was election day, I still doubt they would - since they have no laws or special decrees that let them off the hook for such behavior AS SOME DO.

I'm not in any way defending the knucklehead who were standing in front of that voting location with clubs though I didn't actually see any video clips of them harassin, deterring, etc.
I'm not sure if that's the incident you were referring to but if it is then it was actually the Bush justice department that decided not to file any charges.

I saw it on the news when it happened, and, well…they didn’t look like they were there to shake hands and kiss babies.
I don’t know about Jr.’s justice dept. involvement.
Some sources claim that it was Obama & co. that ordered the charges dropped (after it was a won case).
Whoever was responsible for it, it was a lousy decision.
I don’t fear weapons - only the people brandishing them.
If you want to carry guns in a peaceful demonstration to celebrate or lobby for your 2nd Amendment rights, fine…so long as it’s done properly, including adequate security, reasonable restrictions, and granted to a group of trustworthy people.
Given their actions during the ‘08 elections, I would not trust the Panthers with firearms.
I wouldn’t trust them with shoelaces!
And, unlike 33, I wouldn’t be trying to get them signed up for any kind of gun registration because they are a perfect example why not everybody deserves the right to bear arms.
Amendment II should be reserved for everybody who deserves it.
People like the Black Panthers obviously do not.

you can thank Bush DOJ for that but then they also set a precedent for it in 2006:
# The Bush administration’s Justice Department — not the Obama administration — made the decision not to pursue criminal charges against members of the New Black Panther Party for alleged voter intimidation at a polling center in Philadelphia in 2008;
# The Obama administration successfully obtained default judgment against Samir Shabazz, a member of the New Black Panther Party carrying a nightstick outside the Philadelphia polling center on Election Day 2008;
# The Bush administration DOJ chose not to pursue similar charges against members of the Minutemen, one of whom allegedly carried a weapon while harassing Hispanic voters in Arizona in 2006;
# No voters have come forward to claim that they were intimidated from voting on account of the New Black Panthers standing outside the polling center in 2008;

Smart bunch of DUMMIES you mean... They obviously forgot how easily the US military took over that militia group and DISARMED them almost instantly. These cowards talk guns, buy guns, wear guns, parade guns, but when it comes time to use the gun they are paralyzed with fear and give up right away.

Those are good articles and facts, but there's still a lot that doesn't add up about this whole thing.
Watch these clips:
In the last one, listen to the reporter asking questions ON SITE.
With the remaining Panther, we see irrational defensiveness as well as plenty of inconsistencies and denial of simple things we saw firsthand in the student’s video.
Panther: Why are you here with a camera? I don’t want you recording me.
________________________ ________________________ ___
Panther: Nobody here has a nightstick, and so I don’t know watch’you talkin’ about.
Reporter: Well, there was a person with a nightstick. We have video of it:
Panther: I don’t care about what was. I’m talkin’ about what is.
Reporter: Okay, well that person was escorted out of here by the police, correct?
Panther: I don’t know watch’you talkin’ about.
Reporter: We have video that shows the person with a nightstick standing next to you on this very curb.
Panther: You have me telling you you have no authorization to be here at this polling station. That’s what you got.

Originally claiming to be security - later confirmed to be a poll-watcher, he sure seemed flustered and defensive for somebody who’s innocent of any wrongdoing.

I've already said I don't condone their presence
Any idea why the Bush DoJ didn't prosecute?

This whole LAME case was thrown out of court...why try and resurrect it?
A better example of voter intimidation/threatening etc was the re-election of George Bush which resulted in polling station in majority Black and Hispanic cities and states mysteriously breaking down, votes not being counted, voters being turned away, voters being told they were at the wrong polling station even though they were at the right polling station of which they voted for years... and let us not forget the whole hanging chad disaster all to get Bush reelected. And you post some sorry ass video of two guys at a polling station in Philadelphia and cite that and not the countrywide catastrophe with the polling stations during Bush election as proof????

why don't you educate me
tell me one thing about the right wing (that I clearly must not know....hence the need for the education)
that would compel me to vote for them

A: 2009.

Taxes were no lower for everyone in 2009.
In any event, from the link (why some saw some lower taxes):
• Stimulus law. One-third of last year's $862 billion economic stimulus went for tax cuts. Biggest reduction: The Making Work Pay tax credit reduced income taxes $800 for married couples earning up to $150,000.
• Progressive tax rates. Presidents Clinton and Bush pushed through a series of tax changes — credits, lower rates, higher exemptions — that slashed income taxes for poor and middle-class families. A drop in income now can trigger big tax breaks and sharply lower rates, sometimes falling to zero.
• Sales tax. Consumers cut spending sharply in this downturn, thereby paying less in sales taxes.

hahah seeing as he has already seen taxes levyed against more than that and letting tax cuts expire while increasing taxes on other things you really think that he has kept his promise?
but if you insist less govt spending, less govt in your personal lives....

Straw the main difference between your thinking and mine is that I want the govt to shink and leave me alone as much as possible. I am not looking for handouts, freebies, etc.
The left on the other hand is always looking for more programs, more spending, more infringements on my liberty etc.
Now, of course both parties are equally guilty in this. Howevwer, I know if I vote for a right winger, there is a chance, albeit small, that I wnont get the insanity, however, if I go with a left winger, I know there is a 10000% of insanity.
Not to mention SC picks, 2nd amendment, free speech, etc.

333 - we're pretty similar in that I think the government should be no bigger than needed (not the zealous "shrink it down to nothing and drow it in a bathtub" like Grover Norquist). I'm all for the governmetn staying out of private life (something Repubs used to stand for) and I'm all for governernment incentivizing business investmetn, especially in areas that are emerging industries and will create jobs and will alleviate know problems such as climate change and our dependecy on fossil fuels. The government can and should regulate business whenever their is the potential for abuse or damge to the system. We've come to the point in our system where corporations and corporate interest are put ahead of the interests of the people.
here are pleny of useless social programs we can cut (starting with all religious based nonsense) and we can definitley find ways to save money in military spending.
Where we differ is that you have this paranoid delusion that Obama is a communist and he's going to take your guns away and kill your gransmother (youknow - the death panels). That's where you lose me and it's views like that which will keep the teabaggers on the fringes

Straw - I am beyond sickened with the GOP. They are beyond contemptible, not only for their current nonsense, but for refusing to acknowledge mistakes of the past. there has not been one to even come out and admit the mistakes of the 2000-2006 era and its beyond revolting.
As for the corporations controlling stuff, its not that, its the politically connected corporations controlling stuff, which is disgusting.
