Title: Tampa Pro - Sick potential on Ed Nunn
Post by: tbombz on July 18, 2010, 10:24:18 AM
heres two relaxed photos from tampa this weekend. ed already holds his own size-wise with just about every probodybuilder out there, besides maybe jay, kai, and victor, and his frame looks like it could hold another 50 lbs easily.  this dude has awesome aesthetics and a super sucked in waist. cant wait to see this guy in a few years

He's awesome but time is not on his side. I believe he is 41.

Lovely genetics..

He doesn’t need another 50lbs. That weight would ruin his physique. He could use a back though, looking at the pic you posted.

JoJ-esque calves.  :-X
Does have a good structure other than that tho, back needs help, but if he could pull an Arnold on his calves, and a Dorian on his back, he could be pretty amazing IMHO.

His back looks like its from a guy half his size.

Reminds me of a smaller Tony Freeman. Classic small waist not the GH gut.

There is nothing wrong with his calves.  The are a bit high but he has meat hanging of the bone.

Cmon dude, you cant say that with a straight face. Those things are worse (proportionatley) than Ronnies were. I know its the cool thing now not to have calves, and I know not everyone can have Yates or Matarrazos calves, but jesus christ, those things are terrible. Yes theyre high, theyre also lacking in shape, development, and size. BUT,  I know the biggest thing with calves is genetics, but I refuse to believe that you cannot make them grow.

Arnold did it, others have done it, I just think calves require a different kind of training than the rest of the body. Why? Look at fat people, giant calves. My current theory is that calves may require massive volume to grow. Think about fat peoples calves, they go through huge volume training, everytime those fucks get up and down.  ;D

Lol sorry for the ramble, but those are terribad dude, period, compared to his quads.

*EDIT*

They look much better from behind. From the front though, theyre terrible.

I'm serious.  While his quads are huge his calves have a nice shape.  you are the first person I've ever heard say something about them.

Because a mans arms are a representation of his strength.  They can be uncovered and seen by the general public.  You use them to lift things etc.  His chest is genetically very flat as is his back.

yes but weare not discussing the fuuctionality of bodyparts.... or were not talking about joe publics opinion
we are talking BBing here.. pro
and i notice there is a trend where if a guy has big arms... partially due to a LACKING chest or LACKING back...
then its ok he has huuuge potential.. and he's tthe next best thing....
the back is the second largest muscle group in the body yet this guy has what looks to be from those pics a gym rat's back and a bber arms... yet he has great potential...
NO the imbalance sucks same as a guy who has a huge torso .. and lacking arms
  :-\

His calves are FINE.

They're much better than Tony Freeman's, Dennis Wolf's, Melvin, Dexter,  etc.....

High calves are not "bad calves"  8)

No torso, oil in his biceps, 41 years old
he has an impressive physique, but what "potential"?
Title: Re: Tampa Pro - Sick potential on Ed Nunn
Post by: tbombz on July 18, 2010, 03:21:19 PM
his quad sweep and X frame is more exaggerated than just about every probodybuilder on the planet. and his torso isnt nearly maxed out yet. can you imagine him with more back and chest ? his arms are gud but that is not where his potential is at... its in those super wide clavicles, narrow sucked-in waist, and big sweeping thighs. not to mention he is actually pretty tall, and tall guys with aesthetics AND mass are super rare.

why are old people doubtful of their abilities? i see no reason why ed nunn can not continue to bust his ass in the gym, increasing poundages along the way, and put on another 10, 20, 30, even 50 lbs of muscle over the next 5-10 years. hes not gonna die just yet!

Yates would beg to differ on your idea how calves grow. He did them the same as other parts, heavy weights, low-med reps.

His chest looks better than Heath's due to Heath's lack of width. And in fairness, that back shot, he is shrugged up, slightly pinching his shoulder blades back. Like he winding up for a BDB shot, just look at the placement of his legs, his arms at his sides and his traps being flexed

Yes, but Yates had calf genetics. Im talking about for people without calf genetics. And yes, ive read/watched every video on Yates ideas for muscular hypertrophy. But remember, there isnt one "right" way to do anything, there is a dozen ways to skin a cat. So while that may have worked for him, look at all the others whose calf training did nothing.

Well, depends on how you look at it. Bbing is about bigger muscles, so Yates has good genetics for bigger calves. A sport like sprinting, larg. And long calf muscles play little in that endeavor, something about torque transfer, where the high calf muscle is better. High calf muscles tend to be better worked with extreme high reps and light weight.

My dad has high calves, but they are huge, for his size, around 19 inches at 6'0 and 68 yrs old, abd he looks 50. Never worked them directly in his life. Pisses me off.

maybe there are less muscle fibers to be worked in the high calves?

I agree - awesome potential. Would love to see how he looks like with another 8-10kg of muscle, but yet just as lean. A really impressive physique.
