Not sure if it is retard strength. But, in 1985 or 86 myself and Arnold introduced the first weightlifting event at the LA Special Olympics. And I gotta tell you that some of those fuckers are strong as hell. Especially in the deadlift.

Nope. It's because their minds don't limit their ability, like children, like animals (say chimps for example). When you and I hit somebody, we think, "I am going to hit them", you are not thinking about putting them thru a wall or crush their skull. Kids and mentally handicapped people don't think like that, nor do they comprehend that acting a fool is wrong. So when they kirk out, they are dangerous. Same principle goes to seeing the paranormal. Children will see things adults don't, because their minds have not been trained to close those things out.
What we see with mentally handicapped people actually can help normal people unlock strength in normal people, it's all in the mind, and how we limit ourselves. Imagine, a retarded person showing you the untapped brain power and strength you have. Ironic, huh?
-
In blunt terms and i dont mean this nastily but they are too stupid to realise something is meant to be heavy so they just go lift it!

Exactly, and lift with all their might. But a normal person is like, "WTF am I lifting this for?" or they might get distracting by some woman bending over...

An example.

so why did you say "no" when you agree with what I said but you just explained it more..

I guess, what I took it as you saying that they have "retard strength", basically that they are stronger than normal people. When they are not. If they really were then they would be locked up, or put to work...it's that they just like big children and when a big child throws a fit, watch out!
Like the Big ass Snowman in the Bugs Bunny and Daffy cartoons, "Oh, George, I will hug you and squeeze you...", all the while he is choking the life out of Daffy w/o knowing it.

Was that a Grapes of Wrath thing, reckon?

You mean Of Mice and Men, yeah. I was gonna go there, but I didn't think Swede would know what I was talking about. Both novels did have "mentally challenged, but lovable characters", that had "tragedy befall them".

That's the one! So much for my career as a literary critic. :-\

They can take a beating. I remember a grade 9 tough guy fighting the big handi kid and the handi kid took a whooping but kept coming and eventually the tough guy gassed out and gave up. The handi kid just kept smiling throughout his beating. His face was all red and swole and he was able to latch on to the tough guys good punching arm so they he could only throw his left. The handi kids punching was slow but he was landing at times. This went on for about a good 2-3 minutes. It was probably a draw but gained tons of respect the handicap kid.

Yeah, unfortunately, I made a mistake of posting a thread about three staples of children's novels, that went to bottom real quick
Flexb, any "tough guy" who picks a fight with a handicapped kid should be beaten by a mob of them. That ain't tough.
Plus, the handicapped kid was probably thinking he was gonna get a reward, like those off the hook chocolate chip cookies that the school bakery always cooked.

I couldn't agree more. This "tough guy" was in and out of group homes throughout public school and detention centers during most of high school. He eventually murdered a pimp here in toronto and got a life sentence. Within a month was put on the "dangerous offenders" cell block for seriously fukin another convict up. Within the next year he hung himself in that prison and died. I knew his older brother and was friends with this lunatic at one point. He was one of those guys that never seemed to have a fair chance at life. I knew him from grade 5 and he was nuts even then, punching teachers, fighting, doing drugs etc. I remember he would turn on me once every couple of months and want to fight. He was the only kid growing up I was scared of and thought could beat me in a fist fight. I never took him up on his offers to fight, 2 seconds later we'd be friends again.

My favorite lifting vid of all time. This fucking guy is amazing.

Awww, dude was looking for love in all the wrong places. All he wanted was to be understood and attention. That's why he acted out, he got attention that he was missing. Then it was too late, and he decided it was best to end it all. Finally figured out, no one loves him, but missed the part on one must love themselves. Unfortunately, that part in the book of life is self written and self explanitory. Now, the handicapped guy is probably pushing carts at a store or doing some type of menial job, and doesn't remember that guy or that fight, yet he still alive. Damn, sucks he actually pulled a reverse Darwinism on crazy dude. The irony...

I remember the "slow" guy messaging me on FB years ago. I was never friends with him and hadn't seen him in 15-20 years, but he still wanted to say hi. I said hi and asked what he was doing and he had some ok job working for some corporate company. I think he evolved as he aged and his "slowness" sped up lol. Kinda weird. He was in the special kids classes in most of public school so I know he was pretty slow. He used to rub his thighs when he sat at his desk and rock back and fourth smiling :D

I remember a woman in college doing this. Turns out she was getting herself off...

I worked with the kids a lot for a couple of years and never noticed any exceptional feats of strength, but when one of the kids failed to complete a lift, the end result would be some silent crying which would tear our hearts apart until one of the officials would offer a brief few moments of praise and the tears would stop and a big smile would take their place.
Working with those kids was quite an experience. A very rewarding experience.
One time at a track meet one of the kids took my hand and made me run with him in one of the events. I was the proudest guy on that field even though I had no chance of winning a metal.
-
A thread on retard strength and no one puts up the picture of Goink?
-
This thread is fucked up on so many levels. ;D
-
The "strength" comes from unpredictability. For example it's impossible to hold someone down who can do anything at all. While the more "normal" citizens of society might be very predictable.
