Title: one for us "smaller" , but "strong" dudes out there.....
Post by: G.R.H. on July 25, 2010, 01:55:41 PM
ok dudes,  i was at the gym again today, hammer pressing, and it's usually quiet on sunday. i was waiting for this bigger dude to finish his hammer presses. he started taking the plates off, so i said, "can you leave them on dude, i wanna try pressing the three plates. he moved over to the next station, but i could feel he was "staring me down", almost like he was gonna size me up to start something. so, i proceeded to bang out my 8 reps with the three plates. ( i only did 2 sets, but he was clearly pissed that i could be as strong as he is.) so, he put on his 3 plates on his station, and started making these loud grunting noises with each rep, like the weights were heavy and he was working them really hard! is it just me dudes, or do us smaller dudes tend to "piss off" the bigger dudes who don't think we are as strong as they are, or who get intimidated when they see we can lift or press just as much or more than they can? does this happen to anybody else at your gym? it's weird, some dudes get pissed, others have said to me, "wanna put more weight on there dude? , that was too easy for you!" is this an ego thing or what? why do some "big dudes" hate us little , yet "strong" dudes?

You make such a big deal out of your "handicap", so some people get irritated from it.

Really?

guys, i broke a plateau today..(or, at least what i think is one for myself.) i benched a 45 lb plate on each side, a 25lb plate on each side, and 3 5lb plates on each side. my stupid question is this...with the safety bar that rides up and down, how much weight did i actually bench? a guy at the gym told me with no weight on the bar, the bar is roughly about 40lbs. i know for a fact i definitely can't flat bench this much weight unless i am doing it with the bar that rides up and down. but,  a dude who was bigger than me did ask me how much juice am i on! he said i was a stronger m'er f'er for my size and age. cool!   8)

As a huge individual myself, I take it as a personal insult for a little guy to be strong in front of me.

That shit wouldn't fly with me around in public. No sir  >:(

Exactly, I'm def not huge as far as the big guys go. But I'm pretty damn strong, and I dont ever see this problem. I guess its one of those things that happen before you've actually reached maturity.

he just thinks you are insecure about your size and that you talked to him because you needed to prove him and yourself something, something he doesnt give a shit about. He was just unloading the weights which means he's civilized, there was no need for you to come and ask him to leave the weights.. If  you didnt have to prove him something, you wouldnt have said anything and wouldnt have wanted ot make eye or vocal contact.  In his mind you re just a short frustrated attentionwhore and will be short all of your life. In fact he thinks "you can do whatever you want you ll still be short and ill still be taller than you, deal with it and next time dont even dare talking to me i dont give a fuck about your shortcomings, keep me out of em"

Hope this helps shorty.

Hahahaha Oh brother "G.R.H." .......Look, in the "real world" people don't go around "starting something" because you use the same weight as them at the gym  ::)

I guarentee this guy goes around with permanent ILS, puffing out his non existant chest, wearing skin tight under armour or tapout, mean mugging everyone while he uses his "massive" 3 plates on the hammer press

Epic acting like it was three 45s when it was three 5s and a 25lb bar.

I gave the benefit of the doubt, but nobody benches 200 on a smith for a single, then pumps out 8 with 3 plates on each side on the hammer.

You obviously don't train in a real gym then because if you did a lot of us "little guys" would put you "big guys" to shame. Get over yourself, it's gonna happen.

ok people! never mind! i won't bother posting (or even using), this forum or site any longer. i have been using this site for at least 10 years, and it seems that it has gone from bad to worse! this  used to be a chat room and forum when i first started coming in here, and people actually "respected" and were nice to others in here. i see that's no longer the case. i will take myself elsewhere to other sites from now on. i can sense that i am no longer treated kindly in here!   :'( goodbye people!)

I've been here for around 10 years myself and I don't ever remember people being nice to each other here. That's why I stick around.

Epic short man insecurity!

Short guys are usually stronger than taller guys by nature.  But taller guys get the chicks, live longer, usually have better hairlines, and bigger coronary arteries.  And usually bigger dicks.  Sucks to be you!  :)

I do bicep curls with 70lb barbell.

I can curl 80lb DB's but I don't.

Some people in my gym who curls 55's-60lbers said they had stronger arms than me. I didn't care enough really.

HAHAHA.  The fucking hammer machine makes heroes out of mere mortals.  It fucking kills me when shitheads rant at how they can bench 3 plates a side, then point at the smith or hammer.  Sorry to say it but you did nothing special.  I see twinks all the time piling on plates on the hammer thinking they are God, but they could barely bench the bar plus a 25 if they tried.

Are you asking me on a date?

Nah but anyway I train 4x week. 90mins each session generally.
