Listen to him pop the crowd!
Savage's old WWF promos when he first got to the area were his best...he would mumble incoherently, threaten everybody and then always backed it up in the ring with 5 star matches.....
-
I always liked Savage. Starting back to when he first started in the then WWF wrestling Jack "Quick draw" McGraw. To the time he fueded with Toto Santana for the IC title, to when he scrubed flowers in George Steele's face to when he dumped a bell on Steamboat's throat, etc. I always like his heel persona much better but he was always one of those guys who could do both heel and face persona's and still get a good reaction from the crowd. Smartest man in pro wrestling if you ask me. Made his money, kept his nose clean, liked by a lot of others and retired gracefully.

^^ I put Savage & Steamboat in the same category based on those qualities.
And, like Show, I thought Randy's heel promos were fantastic.
Even watching them now, I laugh my ass off at many of them!
Did you hear the chuckles in the room when, “Ooh yeah!” came over the speakers and all you saw was the figure…then, the pop when the camera panned out to reveal it was really Savage?
He evoked quite a few laughs and pops with that promo.
"Exactly looks like me…
Not now…
BUT, THEN!!!"

He really looks a lot different now though, hey? I wouldn't even recognize him if I saw him walking past me.
Lol....Piper's Pit Circa 1987....
"Did you just touch me man, you got a lot of guts. How would you like to be a has been like this man (pulls out a doll of Ricky Steamboat and bits the head and throws it). Don't you know that he ain't around no more?"

This is just some more of my meaningless speculation, but…
Randy steered clear of any dealings with the Fed for quite a number of years, probably passing up more than one opportunity to make some decent cash in his post-wrestling years.
I was shocked to learn of his collaboration with WWE on the new action figure, which could very well lead to additional dealings.
Do you think it’s only coincidence that Savage agreed to this business arrangement after his father passed?
Angelo Poffo did an excellent job raising his two boys, who were probably too good for the wrestling business.
Always on time, always professional…maybe a little strange at times, but good & genuine people.
I have a feeling that Mr. Poffo was strict man in the sense that he stuck to his morals and principles.
I would suspect that Randy had plenty of conversations with his dad regarding what went down in the WWF.
I’m just wondering if Macho had an itch to do something like this for a while, but refrained on account of his dad.
Not that he took orders from Mr. Poffo, but maybe the patriarch had some influence of Savage “standing his ground” against Vince.
On a side note, I believe that Mattel were the ones to hash out the arrangement with Savage, so perhaps his dealings with WWE are only indirect.
Regardless, the fact remains that this is the first Randy Savage action figure released under the WWE banner in over 15 years.

Below are three of my favorite Macho Man promos based on sheer entertainment value.
The segment with Monsoon & Kenny Resnick in the first clip is priceless - Gorilla, twice, almost cracked!

Rather than start a whole new thread...
I wonder if Savage will appear in any capacity at the "Old School" RAW this Monday.

Doubt it...It will probably be the usual guys; Duggan, Slaughter, Piper. I read HTM had a bitch fit about flying coach or something, so he won't be there.

"Shit-stain Wayne."
A legend in his own mind.

2:25 is PRICELESS!!

LOL
Golf is good exercise? LOL
come on Elizabeth!

I just realized that the finish of these two matches is IDENTICAL:
^^Very good outing for both Savage & Steamboat - possibly a test run for the program they would work roughly three years later in Detroit.

Yes! They are also both on the Savage DVD.

You know, I was planning to buy that DVD even after learning that Savage was not part of the project other than archival footage.
I thought, "Hey, they'll probably get people like Steamboat to talk about their legendary feud, as well as other guys who shared Savage's history."
When I learned it was fukking Matt Stryker & Maria at the helm...

I know...fuggin insult to have Striker & Maria of all people talking about this legend. They did have a slew of great Randy Savage matches. Legendary interviews, great heel work of the mid eighties, etc. Much like the HHH dvd, I was hoping that they would have done a bio of him and how he got started, etc but like I said in many other posts, Savage made it very clear that he wants nothing to do with the WWE and he is retired and done period. The Savage dvd was strictly a WWE project to which they have to pay Savage royalties on sales.
-
I wonder why they didn’t just do what they did with Hellwig & his DVD.
They didn’t have to pay him or even get his permission to do it.

Dn't foo yourself, Mont. Hellwig is entitled to royalties. They need his permission for that especially since he owns the right to his name. Just like Savage was "Macho Man" prior to his WWE days.
-
Yeah, Savage might be different because he already had the name before coming to WWF.
However, the old man gave UW his name, and Hellwig did not acquire the rights to it until much later.
Unless Vince & Macho had some kind of arrangement, I believe that if Vince is only using footage for which a wrestler was already financially compensated, he doesn’t have to pay them anything more.
The footage belongs to Vince and he can use it whenever and however he wishes.
What he can NOT do is bring in another guy and call him “Macho Man” or “Ultimate Warrior.”
The fact that the lawsuit between Hellwig and Titan went on for years indicates that this is no simple matter that can be easily resolved, or even explained.

They must have some kind of agreement because he is part of their contract to Jakkes action figures.

I've got to believe that Savage was paid directly for making a personal appearance like that.
However, the way they talk - it sounds like the deal may be between Macho and Mattel; not the WWE.
-
I always liked this one. "History beckons the Macho Man"
"Cream of the Crop"
-
Lol...."cream of the crop" and Savage was putting coffee cream packs on his head, tossing them on the floor, in Gene Okerklund's pocket all while cutting the promo. Golden stuff. ;D
-
He looks like a swole Santa, ingesting too much caffeine.

He looks great. Dye his beard and hair and he'd look exactly the same as he did in the early 90's.
