So I have had a few people over the past couple months mention they were doing crossfit and how going to a regular gym is a waste of time blah blah blah. I ask them what it is but I still don't get it? I google it and still...I don't get it. From what I can see its just a bunch of granola twinks doing circuits of olympic lifts with light weights and bodyweight exercise?

Sounds like you have "got it," fuckface.

Let me guess....you are in fact one of the "granola twinks"?

Yes, if you enjoy injuries you"ll enjoy crossfit.

Only if you don't teach them proper lifting methods, Joe. Injury rate is no more greater than regular training.
There are some people who want more value and quality from their personal training fees than pushing your SUV around a parking lot...... ::)

People were telling me I should try P90x :-\ They told me it was the hardest workout I'll ever do :-X

People that are sedentary then buy the DVD and workout will always feel sore, so of course they'll claim it is 'hardcore' but that wears off after a month of it and you adapt.
The commerical gets people who were in shape, got out of shape and make them do this, put them on a strict diet (diet is probably 75% of the equation of looking good) and boom! They are back in shape 'thanks to P90X'

Just do 5x5 out in the open - preferably Rocky Mountains.

Crossfit. Bunch of people running around, lifting light weight with sloppy form, and doing Jumping jacks and pushups. They are all trying to be the cast from 300. Or tappoutters.
My friend's chick owns a cross fit "gym". Gym used very Loosly here. He recently pulled a double hernia. Says it wasn't the cross fit. Yeah right. :-\
-
Crossfit is like pepsi max, in the fact that fat chicks buy both of them and brag to their friends about it, but still continue to eat swiss rolls and twinkies every chance they get....

I see you're still completely clueless about training. Do you REALLY train athletes. Give me an outline of your program for your athletes Vince. I'm serious.

Welcome to the year 2003....

Looks like he really NAILED his conditioning.
One of the benefits of a solid support system.
-
crossfit= a fitness trend that is trying to be different by reintroducing people to Power Cleans, gymnastic rings and kettlebells
"Everything old is new again"
-
Exept for these idiots try to make O-lifts into a cardio session. Anyone can get someone tired, few can get results.
-
Crossfit is based purely on science. I'm not going to argue with several peer reviewed university studies applauding its effectiveness and real world applications.
-
the crossfit fad is one of the only bad things that came as a result of the success of the movie "300"
-
Best description of Crossfit I ever heard was "bunch of white people paying to be wore out". They mistake being tired with actually accomplishing something. As far as the actual workout? It's more or less fancy circuit training with an emphasis on the Olympic lifts for the strength building portion and rowing, running, etc.... The biggest problem is that almost all of the folks doing it have no idea how to properly plan it(especially the Olympic lifting parts). And most of the quality folks there have moved on or renounced the program do to back biting, etc...
And yes, Crossfit is plagued with both minor and major overuse injuries. Heck, they use to joke about puking or coming down with rhabdomyolysis.
The best part of Crossfit are the women of Crossfit, see them here-
http://wildgorillaman.blogspot.com/ .
Otherwise don't concern yourself with it.

Is that the belief about how they all got ripped? I thought it was steroids, GH and digital abs? :o

I'll do some internet surfing and I'll get back with you later day on a routine.... ;D
-
Doesn't surprise me one bit Vince.

that is what they are TRYING to sell
-
I've seen some great V Dip bars in crossfit pics...
But, gimmicks what gimmicks are. Americans are always falling for it, as long as they don't actually have to do the hard shit.
-
It's shit.
-
It's shit.
Are you saying that the name should be changed to "crosshit" ? :D

If you juice and do crossfit you have more to worry about than what you know...

LOLZ ;D ;D
he said he really felt the burn in his hands, and the top of his feet, and around his head

Goodrum is the epitome of crossfitness.

It's mandatory for us to participate in at least three times a week. We're counting down the days until this new commander leaves.....It's gonna be a while considering he just got here :-\

actually thats one of the best shots I have seen of Goodrum, the rest I've seen are delusional.
-
Why don't they all just fuck off?
-
Doesn't surprise me one bit Vince.
It was a joke of course. As far as training athletes, its mostly plyometrics, agility drills, sprints, and functional weight training.
-
Goodrum loves it so it must be good :-\
I like it because its attracted a lot of the general public to doing it. Its a big improvement from those fucking Jazzercise classes.

i don't get all the hate for crossfit. compound movements. hard work. yes high reps but sloppy form? sloppy form is up to the lifter and his trainer not the program.
as much as I have complained in the past about people at my gym sitting on an exercise bike pedaling at 2 miles per hour while reading a newspaper I will not hate on a group of people working their ass off to try and better themselves.
the people who hate on it I find are the people who are not happy with their own progress with their own program. These are also the same guys that probably have an arm day and have no arms.
I am a powerlifter (one that actually competes) and I have no hate for crossfit. if all the haters on the board think that crossfit is not up to your standards go to the crossfit games. dominate. then report back to me.
-
.
This one will keep me laughing till the end of time :D

But Crossfit "certifies" all those trainers and boxes as they are called, if you allow your brand to used like that for the sake of a few extra sheckles in your pocket than you deserve all the hate you get. It's not like corporate doesn't know about it. Videos showing bad rack postion, sloppy form, etc... are all over the main website. Some of the trainers even joke about it.
As for the Crossfit games? Why? I don't care for their hobby. I'd rather compete in an actual sport, than run around being half-assed at many things like most crossfitters.
