2 pro's currently train at my gym here in FL (Alvisi and Darrem Charles) and I used to train at the Gold's Gym in Tyson's Corner VA where Kamali trained and they all trained hard, (with the exception of Darrem) but I have to say that Branch takes it to the max and I have always been impressed with his work ethic in the gym, (similar to the intensity that Ronnie and Dorian trained with.)

Darrem has been competing Pro since what 1992? So, you can't really say he doesn't train hard. To be that long in the game takes time, hard training, wisdom and patience. And right now, I think he is maintaining...not like he was few yrs ago.

Branch Warren. Branch trains, the others "workout".
-
Branch doesn't train hard, he trains like shit. His whole "hardcore" attitude. Oh brudda ::)
Dorian trained hard AND right!
-
Kai has to be near the top of the list.
-
2 sets per body part with 3 reps isn't training, its relying on drugs.

"i took lots and lots of steroids in chase of my dream of IFBB stardom and all i got was aggressive male-pattern baldness" :'( :'(
"oh, and level III palumboism"

As soon as I saw this thread Branch immediately came to mind. I like him. He's no pussy. People always give him a hard time for being short and not having a pretty body but he does ungay the sport much like Dorian did. You're not going to see him shaking his ass and strip dancing like the rest of those homos. He even has a real man's job owning a trucking company.

What?
Dude did not go to failure once...closest he got was 5 plates per side and then also the drop set....the prior sets (3 plates, 4 plates) were ended with plenty in the tank....why?
I dont undesrtand this training...well I do actually ---> its called the power of sticking a needle in your ass.....roids are brillant and the slightest exertion is rewarded
Arnold trained impressively hard.....Dorian too.....Branch, inspite the muppet gym attitude that he has, trains very hard
But Kai, phew, not even in their league.
FAILURE to every working set or get the f'ck out of here
Btw, what is with the gay elbow spot lift?......so theatrical

fucking guy is in his late 30s, on the cusp of an olympia..........has EVERYTHING to lose by getting a muscle tear, happens so easy
hundreds of thousands of possible dollars on the line
so he's supposed to throw on 7 plates just to impress "gino" and tear his fucking peck off the muscle
he is a bodybuilder, not a strongman, not a powerlifter............. .lee haney said it best in regards to his training philosophy "stimulate, dont annihilate"

Girls, where did i mention poundages?.....he could have gone to a weight that aloowed him anwhere from 8 to 16 reps to failure...be it 140kg or 180kgs
point is, these guys are dynamite in their response to drugs.....cunties like you have to bust their ass to faliure bigtime in order to grow.....
if that chest workout was indicative of how hard he trains, then relatively spekaing, half the guys in my gym train harder
all drugs and grapefruit

Dorian still trains harder than all of them ..

they were WARM UP sets you fucking dellusional monkey fag homo son of a bitch cocksucking LOONEY TOON CHARACTER GINO30!!!!! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!!!!!
yes Kai could've done 50 minutes with the 3 plates and 4 plates each side but he doesn't want to be flat chested, so he goes heavy ASS weight and does THAT to the limit, and then squeeses the last drop of energy with the drop sets.
fucking idiot... someone SHOOT this guy, plZ!!!

Dorian probably trained harder and "smarter" somehow then all of them now. But also took it's toll. 6 sandows in what....8 years as a competitor. Probably could have lasted a few more years more going a lil' softer than he did. Sure, Branch trains hard but look how he fucked up his physique and the time it took him to get back on track. He has the density but fuck, training the way he does certainly won't help him get better symmetry and proportions.

Training like Dorian and Ronnie=torn tri, bi, lat, effed up quads, messed up back.
Levrone, heavy benching=torn pec
Levrone, heavy back exercise before Olympia=torn lat and tri
Flex Wheeler, who apparently trained heavy prior to winning his pro card (he trianed with Chris Cormier who was said to "lift the gym")=torn bi and pec tear.
Lee Haney, trained to stimulate the muscle= no real injuries that I know of, correct me if I am wrong
Same for Shawn Ray
Fux, Flex photo shot with heavy weights=infamous pic of a man buried under weight, and torn quads
Derek Farnsworth, 4'11 man who squats 800 pounds=weight that will make him shorter and shorter over the yrs.

PLEASE!!! Failure to every working set is a RSVP for injury. I supposed 4-time Mr. Universe and professional strongman, Bill Pearl, just trained like a girl. Pearl's motto: "Train; don't strain!!". He almost never trained to failure.

Similar to Bill Pearl's "Train; don't strain". Plus, many strongmen and powerlifters don't train to failure, anyway.
But, you hit it on the head. You don't get brownie points for training "hard". What matters is the end result of that training. If it's size, shape, and fullness, you're on track. If it's a torn muscle, you've blown it.
-
Hidetada Yamagishi in the list.
-
I haven't seen that many of current pros train, but from what I've seen it has to be Branch Warren.
Although no pro has trained harder than "Mr. intensity" Tom Platz to date.
-
cedric mcmillan....mainly because of the level of cardio he has to maintain, and the ammount of muscle he has...
i would say branch....but...i dont know..
bench

who is the cat that was spitting in the gym?

I agree about Dorian training hard and smart, but no one has really brought up Ronnie. The tremendous improvements he made in the late 90's (legs just grew and grew and his back just got thicker and thicker) is indicative of the level of intensity he trained with. Would you say Dorian and Ronnie had superior genetics to say Flex or Paul Dillet.....I would say no, but they busted their ass in the gym day in and day out training super heavy and smart, (although Ronnie pulling an 800lb deadlift close to the Olympia is insanity) and that is why they have well over a decades worth of Olympia titles between them. I respect the hell out of what they put into their training and it paid off. Look at Branch, I don't particularly care for his physique but his success in the sport is 100% due to hard work and I can respect that. Imagine if someone with Vic Martinez's genetics trained with that level of intensity day in and day out. I know Vic has battled injuries (which by the way were not sustained due to training super heavy like Levrone and other guys) and personal issues, but I think he will ultimately end up leaving a legacy like Flex did.....which is could of, would of , should of.....
