Pls don;t oust my letter to Dave19. Let the pu c read it first thanks! Snix

i usually always do them in the beginning when im my strongest
-
I think there are two trains of thought on this:
1. do them first, when you are fresh. this way you will hopefully have better form and technique thereby preventing injury. and you can use more weight
2. do them later, when your back is "pre-exhausted' (fucking lame word). this way you can use less weight and still get a good workout. again less weight = less injury (hopefully)
me, i do them first
-
I do them at the end, simply because I prefer to prioritise my upper back more, which is a weaker bodypart for me.
-
Usually the beginning so I can focus more on proper form. The end I find myself cheating a lot more which will take just one slip up to knock me out for a while.
-
I always start with pullups and usually deads are after that.
-
I always did dead at the start of a back workout until recently. I am currently doing pulldowns first then deads, not much drop in strength.
-
Deads always first or second...90% of the time I put them first, im at my strongest and can concentrate on my form while shunting a heavier weight...makes more sense to me. If they're second its normally after lat pull-down.

At the end
-
Recently switched to performing them at he end of the workout - following the Yates routines, or pretty close, as they have always worked for me...been doing them full ROM though.
My strength dropped considerably from 6 plates a side for 3-6 doing them first, to 3/4 plates a side for 8 at the end. Got to say my form is near picture perfect and I'm really controlling the negative since following my new routine. Working back up though, with good results too.
-
I do them as my third exercise!
-
Deadlifts take a lot out of me so I get in first. Sometimes on a good day that might be my main concentration.
-
deads are on leg day!
-
Always on my legs day.
-
at the beg. i hit 605lbs last night 8)
-
i do them on a seperate day from back,i have a day i call power day, when i do wide stace powersquats and then deadlifts, usually 3reps or less
-
Do you guys ever perform partial deads???
-
Do you guys ever perform partial deads???
Rack pulls? Yes, from just below the knee and sometimes from mid shin.
-
Both, but usually at end for me.
-
I mix it up. Sometime first, sometime middle, and sometime last. We call it deadlift dead last.
-
I prefer to do them on squat days that way I limit excessive lower back use and as the lower back is more a 24/7 stability muscle system rather than an occasional super power system I still want to be able to function ok the rest of the 24/7
-
i nearly always do them at the end of a back session,,, its game over then for sure
and how the fuck people do squats and deads in the same session is beyond me

LOL
During one of my sessions last week I clocked these two guys doing squats on a smith machine right after deadlifting (weird because hardly anyone does compounds in my gym)
On the smithie they was lifting less of what I was on the squat rack opposite them
One of them started doing high reps with little rest between sets, burnt himself out, got pale as a ghost and had to go sit down at the office by hte entrance

I tried it a few times, exhausting and brutal, not for the squeamish.
-
It's power exercise (1-5 reps) power should always come first in training.
-
1st
-
Both,but usually last
-
Do you fellas perform them at the beginning or end of your back workout?
As a third or fourth exercise but i'm not interested on maxing out right now.
-
grea texercice build hams traps and erectors . to squat and deadlift the same day simply dont go full steam on both .. or full heavy . on a power meet you max on both the same day .
-
Usually after squats.
I do upper back on a different day.
-
If i'm trying to get stronger on them then first in my routine if not i do them near the end of my routine.
-
i do them with my legs/lower body workout. at the beginning.
-
I do squats then deadlifts, then rows, then pulldowns

I usually do deads 3rd exercise..I start with WG pullups or lat bar pull downs...then a some sort of row.I like to have my back warmed up before I DL. i dont dead lift anymore but when i did,it was low reps just about75% of the time.1-5 reps anywhere from 5- 8 sets.
-
pics of lou ferrigno deadlifting seems scarce . some others too. .
-
Sometimes I might do them first and at other times I'll do them last, but when you do deads last you're gonna dig deeper for those reps. And to boot I would hit back after doing legs the day before, so now I'm going to do my back work before leg day.
-
i stopped doing them after i was able to do 200kg for 5
didnt see any gains from them

I superset chest and back and deadlifts are part of my last superset.
