Title: Protein Intake
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on August 15, 2010, 05:17:06 PM
I have a really hard time getting over 125g of protein per day (if that).

I don't understand why you people act like it's so easy...

you can always throw in some protein shakes.

You can also buy lean ground meat and make hamburgers. Sometimes I buy them frozen--one lean ground hamburger contains 30G of protein!

Yeah, that looked funky. That means only one chicken breast has 16 grams. Does not seem right.

your addition is off I think.  64g for the chicken.  And thats if thoese are small breasts.  8oz breasts have about 40 to 45g  i think

Liquid form, about 95% of the guys I know that are not on a perma-bulk get probably a third or so of their protein in liquid form from shakes, low fat milk, etc.... It's a lot easier to drink calories, etc... than eat them.

30g's every three hours

that's all you need if you're natty

no counting grams, no insane intake digits

Agreed, your estimates have got to be low.  18g would be a few pieces of sashimi salmon.

thats not enough, 81g is actually going to make you lose muscle, need at least 180 to maintain, 250+ to build...if you want pro size you have to put down 350+ per day to force your muscles to grow huge. right at 350 g you will suddenly make monster gains. if you are hardcore enough you will eat 500+g a day and force your muscles to grow to superfreak size!!!!

I'm about 10X better looking than your wife.  8)

Seriously though, I'm fairly muscular and seem to be progressing OK.  I do seem to have a slower metabolism than normal I think.

I'm seriously upping my protein starting today with around 200g.  I'll let you all know how it goes!

Chicken breast has lots of protein, i can't really see a problem with getting up to 300g protein ed over a longer period of time.

When i eat about 400, i can only do so for a few weeks until i get sick of eating... usually in the end of this bulking phases, i tend to down too many shakes just to get it over with....

right now, i eat LOTS of sashimi, mostly tuna and salmon. A good meal for bulking is buying a piece of sashimi quality red tuna, then cut that into quarters, not slices, throw in half an avocado also sliced, flavor with sesame oil and soy sauce. tastes amazing.

Because it IS so easy, especially with the supplements of today. You can get 80 to 100 grams of protein in two shakes EASILY. I'll consume that much BEFORE LUNCH.

For example:

7:00 AM - Body Fortress Whey Protein: 26 g
9:00 AM - Three Whole Eggs, Turkey Sausage/Liver Tablets: 30-35 g (depending on size of eggs and type of turkey sausage or number of liver tablets).
10:30 AM - Myoplex*: 42 g

That's nearly 100 grams or protein......before lunch time. I don't think getting another 25 is a major problem, especially with a meal of ground beef and mixed veggies on tap at noon today.

*: Actually, that's Myoplex LITE with half a scoop of protein powder; I got a box of 20 on sale for $10 at GNC.  ;D

Indeed, it would!!

Right now, I'm at about 140 grams of protein, with four meals (two solid, two liquid) to go.

Try to shoot for 1.25-1.5g per lb of body weight, that will be enough. Especially if u have a good amount of carbs in there.

6 meals a day, 30-50g protein per meal, no problems at all to eat +200g in a day, add a shake or two and your at 250-300g.

Thanks man.  I've always been a big eater, was a fat kid growing up.  I also take in around 1.5lbs of veggies a day.  My P/C/F numbers right now are 315/235/40.  I tried the higher carb, low protein, moderate to high fat diet and honestly, I felt like shit on it.  I can take my carbs much lower than this here, like around 130 or so and not be too hungry with plenty of energy.  I'd bump the fat up to 50g or so if I did that though.  Just try something out for 8 weeks or so, track your progress, then do the same thing with a different protocol.  You'll find what works for you, I'm always refining my shit, that's what makes it fun I think.

Thanks, yeah I've been experimenting a lot too, I've learned a lot about my body.  I was pretty chubby before I started, but I guess most of the shit I'm into is fats and carbs, I can down a gigantic steak like the next guy though.

I here that man lol.  I wish my body could process fats better, I have to really watch the red meat intake because of that.  It is what it is though, we take what we have and make the best out of it.

3000 calories?

I doubt I ever eat above 1500.

Not everybody eats tons of food.

If I eat too much, I get fat. Simple as that.

I don't want my whole day to be consumed by thoughts of food.
