Title: Pick one company
Post by: littleguns on August 17, 2010, 05:48:29 AM
If someone says to you.."I want one supplement company that has it all" what would you tell them?

My pick is Gaspari....yours?

I can’t narrow it down to one company because there isn’t one that makes everything I use.

I also don’t think it’s wise to always believe that one or two products is indicative of a company’s quality as a whole.
They may make an awesome protein (or whatever), but everything else may be crap - and vice versa.

I only take protein and creatine so it wouldnt be to hard for me to just choose one and if I had to it would be Labrada they are decently cheap and have good products.

I’d like to hear somebody who knows chime in on this because it’s been mentioned several times before…
Is it true that there are only 3 or 4 facilities in the U.S. that manufacture protein powders (and other supplements) and that other companies purchase these products and slap their own label on them?

IIRC, they featured one such facility in Bigger, Stronger, Faster and mentioned that this place was responsible for producing something like ¼ of the nation’s supplements.

BSN BOB!

Ha-ha...
Is their stuff really that bad, or do GB'ers dump on BSN simply because of Chick?
I've only tried their protein, but I liked it insofar as my own criteria for powders.

As for Bob, he's only been respectful towards me on the boards, so I have no gripe with him.
I think people just like to give him a hard time, but it is often very funny.

I've probably used ON/ABB more than any other company since 2004.
Unfortunately, they don't make liver tablets or any kind of beef-based protein or amino product.
If they did, I'd use it, because I do like everything (that I've tried of) Costello's line.

Really?  They over market and hype their products like muscletech used to do when they first came out. The claims in their adds are pure BS

the human body adapts to weight lifting, and to calorie levels. you want to grow your muscles huge, then lift weights regularly and make sure your gradually increasing the poundages/reps. if you want to get shredded, reduce your calories.

even the best supplements will have a negligible effect on body composition. if you want to train naturally, just train naturally. if you want to get an extra boost from some kind of "special substance", then dont worry about whats legal and just get on some testosterone.

This is a tough one…for me BSN, Gaspari, VPX, Labrada…tough to choose just one…

This is tough for me because I am a former retailer and these companies were very supportive in providing marketing materials, samples, ect.  Companies like this “get it”.  When you support the retailer it makes it much easier to get your products on the shelves and into the customer’s hands.  Other companies won’t even return a call…

I guess this has nothing to do with what company is best but just some insight on how certain companies operate.

Twinlab
Ultimate Nutrition

ON was busted for bogus products back in their early days (typical florida brand)
MuscleShit is all marketing hype
VPX same as Muscleshit but with prettier packaging
BSN just never seemed to help me

Cytosport is alright though

Not the same company.
I heard they had to clean up their act but it still leaves a bad taste in your mouth just like their "natural" vanilla flavor

That's because of the sweetener they use (Stevia I think)  :-X.  Try their other one - it's the same except for the sweetener.  No funky aftertaste.

Is Stevia known to do that?
I only ever use it in my coffee, but have never noticed any aftertaste.
