It's sad that people think these things will help them build muscle any better, unless your doing some kind of water sports or beach activities these things are pointless. I've heard all these tools talk about how wearing these "Aqua Socks" help them contract there legs that much better. If you need aqua slippers to contract your leg muscles you might wanna give training with weights up.

I thought these were more for the barefoot experience and that fact that we evolved barefoot. I'm pretty sure studies support this but still in-conclusive whether barefoot prevents injuries compared to wearing high tech running trainers.
I'm intrigued by these shoes, sure do look gay as hell though, i would not wear them anywhere in casual circumstances. I did buy Nike Free 3.0 and coming from someone who has had two major knee surgeries i have to say i was really pleased to be running nearly pain free for 40 minutes at a time. I'm not 100% sure but i think they may be onto something with this barefoot craze.

Prolly less, I have a pair of $120 Nike Tuned Airs that apparently cost .75 to make.

I'm guessing you don't wear socks with it. Doesn't that cause an odour problem?
-
No socks. They're too new to determine odour issues

They are designed to be machine washable, no?

yep, and air dry.
i got some a couple weeks ago. i've ran in them since a few times and it's a very different feeling than running in gym shoes.
my lower legs have been veiny since i started; i'm hoping i didn't tear shit up down there, lol.
i think the "science" behind them makes sense and i love using them. i don't go out to a dance club and slap people with my feet; i run off the main course at off peak hours, so i'm not out fishing for compliments for them.
but i do like them more and more with each run.

I read on another forum that they can get a bit whiffy and someone recommended soaking them in hot water and a small amount of bleach every now and then.

Did you have to reduce the distance you run when you first got them?
-
you might as well start painting your toe nails now

well, it says to do 1/2-1 mile per run the first week or two just to get used to it.
being a true getbigger i did 2 miles the first day. i flew.
the second day i could barely walk. it felt like someone hit me with a car.
so yes, i'd suggest 1/2-1 mile per run the first week ;D
but on week two (i run about 4 miles) i cut almost 5 minutes off my time just due to sheer lightness of the shoes. i'm not sure i'd recommend it for heavy gravel running, but i run on pavement and even though it's a weird feeling compared to a normal shoe, it feels more natural after a few runs.
