Mike Christian is eleven years younger than I am. When I was in my thirties I met him. We both worked out at the same gym in Portland called the Knox Street Center. Chuck Amato ran the gym which was part of Portland Parks and Recreation. It was free to work out there.
Mike was a genuinely nice fellow. - Huge! I remember him squatting with 700 lbs. I was amazed! He entered and won the Mr Portland bodybuilding contest in 1976. His girlfriend made his posing suit for him. He was very modest and shy.
My mom always said that folks with a great toothy smile were good natured people. In the case of Mike Christian, this was definitely true.
Wonder what he's doing these days?
