A large part of the event was to pay tribute to military personal who have lost their lives. The $5million raised at the event was given to the families of special ops who have lost loved ones.

As for the flyover, no one is permitted to have a flyover in DC, it's against the law. Beck said they tried to get a permit, was told that there was no exception to this law and that was that.
