Why would you? A better question is why wouldn't you?!

Joe believes in a hands on approach.

i got right to the 6:49 mark, didnt watch the whole thing. the 10 seconds i watched it it felts so gay i was unconfortable.
That is the reason why i never ever think about watching vids of topless men posing and flexing. I think it's gay. I used to watch them for a while years ago, when i had no idea of who these "guys" really were, how fucked up they are, but since then i ve learn so many bad stuff about "bodybuilding" especially on here im disgusted by everything related to it. I flee every bodybuilding related thread on here. I just come for the general topics that talk about everyday life stuff or to joke about the blatant gayness/stupidity of some people being exposed on here on a daily basis.

Joe is a shameless schmoe. And why not... it's his contest! If he is doing that in public just imagine what he does in private! ;D
Seriously, Rich was awesome for his time! Great size, shape, and totally shredded!

nostalgia for the 80's

Branch Warren is today's Rich Gaspari
both are short with lesser structures who make up for poor aesthetics by being as thick and shredded as they can get

Gaspari was never very thick. Ripped to shreads though. Ask our resident closet homo "uberman" just how ripped his glistening glutes were. :-\

Don't give a shit about that stuff, but would you care to comment from your perspective on the difference in physiques now from what gaspari and haney looked like back then. I can't help but watch that, and feel like all the new pharmacology since then has just ruined things. What's your take?
-
Why would you? A better question is why wouldn't you?!
Exactly.
Rich Gaspari is about the best example of what a bodybuilder can do if they have both the genetic talent to be a top bodybuilder as well as the intelligence to succeed in other areas behind the scenes in the industry.

Because BB is a progressive sport like many others, the physiques continue to "progress" in terms of size, conditioning. Unfortunately, it doesnt always result in a better physique, as the human frame can only hadle so much before the development suffers at the expense of symmetry, proportion, shape.

My point exactly is that I see these vids looking back that there was no internet then for me to see them, and I'm like WTF?. Seriously, how can you look at Gutler, Kai, Branch, and some others and see progress? And these are the guys winning/ placing high at shows now. It boggles my mind when I see vids from back in the day that remind me what a quality build looks like.
Bob, if you are willing to give an honest and open assessment.....what do you think is the most significant factor that contributes to the difference we see now? I mean, obviously it is drugs, but is it higher doses in general or the the addition of GH, Insulin, IGF? Something went astray somewhere. As someone who does it professionally, and has been around it at a high level for so long what was finally the tipping point "supplement" wise?

You're finally opening up to us.
I beginning to understand.
We're here for you.
But deep down you and I know that things are just not going to end well -- everywhere.

Brutal honesty.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not taking more thats ruining physiques, as the receptors will only recognise so much...it's the funky stuff thats the culprit, mainly insulin. GH is over rated, steroids have been around forever and probably arent as good as the "good ol days" as ost of it is watered down or counterfit....jury is out o IGF-1 so far.
Proportionately, you only see someone with what I would consider GREAT genetics, about once every 20 years or so....Reeves (50's), Arnold (70's), Haney (80/90's), Coleman (2000's)...not much different than other sports
As I said earlier, I'm not so sure that it's just not the idea of only being able to put X amount of muscle onto a frame...difference between the late , great 80's and today is simply that a guy 5'8 today is competing at 260 lbs, as opposed to a 6'4 Ferigno, or a 6'2 Arnold at 240....bottom line is, you cant stuff 10 lbs of shit into a 5 lb bag and have it look "aesthetic"

Great answer. Thanks for the openness. As far as the drugs go, I guess I was just trying to point out that there was a reason that guys back then weren't reaching these levels in bodyweight and it wasn't for lack of trying. Interesting to hear another pro call GH's effects/impact minimal. Why the hell is everyone using it if it isn't doing much? Never tried myself because of this. It's like people take it just bcuz

Same reason the runers werent as fast, the players in Football, etc are bigger, faster, stronger....advancements in nutrition, equipment, drugs, science, better athletes due to more lucrative money/ contracts offered...

LOL. Doesn't tripe like this void your super-duper Mensa standing!? Cripes.

Good point. Willingness to take more risk bcuz of money makes a lot of sense since it is now affordable to them as well.
A good friend of mine who is a few years older than me went to one of those camps they had back in the day and he talked to Rich quite a bit. They hit it off well and they hung out a bit to where he was able to ask him what he took. His answer was something like, whatever I can get. lol.
BTW, Chick you never answered my question about your upcoming Olympia garb? Mobster or pirate theme this year? :P
