Jobless Rate Climbs to 9.6 Percent, Private Firms Add Workers in August

The Labor Department says companies added a net total 67,000 new jobs last month, down from July's upwardly revised total of 107,000. Wall Street analysts expected a smaller gain, according to Thomson Reuters.
Overall, the economy lost 54,000 jobs as 114,000 temporary census positions came to an end. State and local governments shed 10,000 positions. The jobless rate rose to 9.6 percent from 9.5 percent in July.
More than a half-million Americans resumed their job searches in August, which drove up the jobless rate.
I don't believe the 9.6%. It has to be over 10%. Either way, Obama's economic recovery plan is a disaster. It is useless to deny the truth.

More BS numbers from the Govt.
Either way - FAIL.

It IS higher than 9.6%. The "official" numbers don't factor people who've been out of work for six months or more. They stopped counting that and used the census jobs to lower the UE rate, pretending that Obama's stimulus is actually working.
Throw into that the "underemployed", people with menial jobs not commensurate with their abilities (i.e. college grads and execs, flipping burgers and cutting grass); and Obama's political impotence manifests itself even more.

FROM MY OTHER THREAD
OBAMA = FAIL

Obama joked back in June that the hungry road crews in Columbus would keep area restaurants busy. But it didn't work out that way for a nearby pizzeria.
"We're third generation — started in 1939," said John Plank of the restaurant he runs with his brother and sister.
Plank said business has been slow this summer, in part because the road construction makes it hard for customers to reach his restaurant. He hoped to at least capitalize on the day of the president's visit, but the expected crowds didn't materialize.
"I hate to say it, but it was our worst Friday we've had in 10 years," Plank said. "I thought there were going to be all kinds of people down there, but I guess there were only 30 to 40 people, and they were all from Washington."

That is sad.
If the economy is healthy living tissue, Obama is the cancer.

C'mon fellas....its just the labor pool expanding.....
I believe, from what I've read and figures I've seen, that the U.S. needs 125K net jobs per month to simply meet population growth etc.
We aren't getting that, not even close.

Is that the new excuse?

You are a racist!!!Stop posting facts about Obama.Anyone who does this is nothing but a racist just like Glenn Beck.By the way,Imam Obama said this is good news and we are on the right track.

Oh and Imam Obama said that the private sector created 65,000 jobs and thats great news.Lets see,65,000 jobs a month for 8 years would come out to about 7 million jobs give or take[my math is pretty bad].Now,he has lost about 7 million since becoming president,so that seems to come out to zero jobs created if he is there for 8 years.Doesnt quite compare to the 16 million created under Regan.
