Title: Top Bodybuilders Home Gyms
Post by: The Abdominal Snoman on September 04, 2010, 09:49:38 PM
Can someone explain to me why the top guys who are millionaires don't have their own high end gym?  Why is a guy like Jay Cutler working out in a gym with other people all the time? Is it EGO? Is it to look at pussy? What is it?

Ok but why is it every time massive Jay Cutler is in the gym, there are only tiny tits around him? Why bother unless it is totally ego?

Why do people go out to dinner? Why do people go out anywhere? You can do a lot of things at home that you can do on the outside. I guess the same thing applies to training. When you come up with an answer as to why people go out to do the same thing they can do at home, you then have your answer to your question.

I guess so but working out is there job. And when you are a millionaire doing such a job, then time is precious. Especially if you have other ventures. Why wouldn't "they" get the best equipment, the best trainer/s(if need be) and hit it hard in the privacy of their own home? If its not ego, then what is it? Is it that some human's really need to be around other humans? Hold the presses---IS IT SIMPLY BRANDING? If so, I now get it ;)

Remember, they weren't always pro bbers. They grew up training in gyms. When you get used to a certain atmosphere, its very hard to let go. I heard a good quote "if you stay one place long enough, you become that place." Personally, I think its sort of humble that they still train regular gyms like everyone else. Plus, why shouldn't they train in a gym? Just because they are big? They have to hide?

Another good quote  :D :D

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?  Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Why should anyone, including bodybuilders, not be around others? Why should they shrink and hide? Perhaps they might motivate others around them.

I am feeling deep tonight  :D :D :o :o 8)

Ronnie and Lee priest do have their own home gyms. But "atmosphere" and drive or "vibe" or whatever is the main reason most people join gyms isn't it? Also no single gym has every bit of equipment, so lots of guys say do legs at one gym and everything elese somewhere else. Finally, if you train ywice a day for 20 years would you really want all those workouts to be in your own home where you spend most of the rest of your time anyway?

It has always been human nature to seek the company of others and live in large groups / clans / extended families.

Today the workplace replaces the village or clan where everybody knew everybody.

Quite a number of companies allow employees to work from home, but many prefer to show up at the workplace anyway and only work from home a day or two per week.

Same thing, people want interaction, impulses, new impressions that go beyond our immediate families and we find these at work, on the golf course, in the gym etc.

For a pro BB the gym is the work place and just because most of the other regulars in the gym are not bodybuilders doesn't mean that the pros don't interact with them, or would not miss them if they all suddenly disappeared.

Reason #1 why my 100 pound straight curl bar has not been picked up in a while, and my dip bar is used by women to hang their bras off of.

For the record, I am not gay.

I masturbate exclusively to heterosexual pornography.

Thanks for letting me clear that up.

I heard you asked your CO about a discharge.

And he said, "That's fucking disgusing.  Put it away and go see the doc."

Mainly motivation and just human interaction.

I have a good enough gym at home for my goals (to not get too fat), but i just kind of run through the motions.  Plus, I don't often have a 20 year old with a granite ass in spandex walk through my basement.

Professional bodybuilders make a living by having people look at them  They have to be the center of attention because it boosts their focked up self esteem.  If they trained at home, who would be ooohing and awwwhhhhing at them the whole time?  They are attention whores in the absolute biggest sense of the word.

I'd imagine for these guys going out to the gym is like punching the clock at work,  it makes it feel like a real job and helps motivating them.  It's probably not the same for them if they can beat off and eat corn chips between sets.

Lol@ bodybuilding millionaires.

If i had money to burn, I would put an extension on my house and build a gym with all the best equipment. I would install a top of the line sound system too. ;D
I hate people, so right now I train at 4:30 am when the gym is virtually empty. I don't need other people to motivate me.
If i built my own gym at home, I would probably find a good training partner and charge him 500 bucks a year for a membership at my gym. lol jk

I think it's two-fold.  Working out alone at home can become boring.  Secondly, if it ain't broke don't fix it kinda thing.

The presence of other people facilitates motivation. This "social facilitation" phenomenon is well documentet in scientific psychology. It's easier to work very hard physically in the presence of others.

Exactly, I prefer gym time to myself
so I don't understand this:

Social facilitation is a fact for human beings as a group. However, there are obviously individual differences in how we are influenced by others.

Personally, I feel that it enhances my effort and arousal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_facilitation
