Noel prepped me for Nationals last year and helped me get my Pro Card. I was very happy to see Leafy work with him this year as well. He's the shit. 8)

Noel's the man.... one of the few trainers i feel that has a good eye for telling the difference between fat// water. I still have trouble telling the difference between the 2 at times but i hired him for his eyes. A very valuable tool to have when prepping indeed.

When digging a little you soon realize that Noel's track records goes as far as late 80's. Nikki owes her career to him. Who's the other "guru" who put himself on the map bringing his wife to top levels then pick up the top honors? then took that "yup yup" black dude to the top amongst others...

It tought his "he needs to drop 2 lbs of water" was bullshit actually
you were already in great shape a week out, you wouldn't have change shit with the water manipulation and you would have looked the same onstage IMO

I was actually the one pushing for water manipulation.. he was telling me to keep everything the same. That night before the show i got absolutely no sleep because i snore so loud i was waking everyone up and got pillows thrown at me so they wouldn't let me sleep. I got up around 4 to take pictures and thats when i realized everything had fallen into place and nothing was needed to be done. I sent the pictures to which he replied "i told you so...".
Sometimes you can't see yourself for what you really are. Your mind plays tricks on you. Here is a back stage picture i had taken of me where i would have said i looked like a skinny stick who isn't going to place for shit.... When you compare it to the stage shots, you see that i had the illusion to appear that i out massed guys that were easily 15 lbs heavier then me and had more muscle.
Reading peoples faces backstage i could tell that no one was really taking me that seriously because they probably saw the same thing i was. Having multiple and nonbiased eyes on you is extremely helpful. Noel is brutally honest. If i had looked like shit he would have told me so. When i thought i looked skinny and small he was telling me i was spot on. I could have easily made the mistake to fill out too much if i had been on my own.

yeah you are a bit like myself in the sense that you have a big frame so nothing must "pop out" when you just walk around backstage
but then when you go onstage you pwn every guy with your width
(you have a better frame than me tho, shorter arms and narrower hips)

I totally understand where you are coming from with trainers. I have had a bad one before that i had to drop. The thing with dropping a trainer is that it is almost never pretty. The first guy i used wanted to control everything i did down to the tee even if i knew it wouldn't work. It was his way or the highway. This training style doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to let someone make their own mistakes. Noel works with you and tells you the best options to go from there. If you don't want to do something he isn't going to make you. Like i said... the water dropping was my idea and i had many people pushing me to do it. Noel told me not to do it. In the end luckily i ended up listening to him. I know how i need to look to do well at a show and i just wasn't seeing the level of conditioning i wanted until approximately 5 hours before prejudging. In the end conditoning is what is going to make you look bigger. All these guys in my class had more muscle then me.... all i am is an illusionist.

That lighting fills you out and makes you look 10lbs heavier which is why i now have a better understanding of things. If you look sick and weakly shirtless in normal life you're spot on.
