I don't thing pins or magnets are that good people just use pins without even seeing what's writen on them and magnets just get thrown away.

We give away thumb drives with the company logo on them and people seem to use them.

Better than hats, shirts, coffee mugs, and golf balls.

Our company does a few new things every year!  We've done things like Notepads, calculators, pens, desk clocks, reading lights, key chains etc

It depends on what you are promoting and what is your budget.  And NEVER say "whatever is the cheapest"
