I have insomnia and the only thing that worked for me was allergy medicine like benadryl. I am unable to take that active ingredient any longer because it will show up on a drug test. Same with prescription sleep drugs.
Does anyone have experience with "natural sleep aids".
Before anyone says whack off first. It doesn't work.
Valerian root looks like it works for some people.

In what situation is benadryl, diphenhydramine hcl even forbidden?
Valerian root did help a little but i had to take 5 times the amount suggested...

Used to have terrible troubles in the past.
I tried with success drops of linden (used google translator, hope it's right): they worked but I had to use three times the dosage adviced.
Given time it was not useful anymore, just had to use Xanax.

That's the prob with melatonin though is you have to keep upping the dose until you get to something crazy like I was at 15mgs with 500mgs of niacin a night. It's stupid
I agree with the poster on valerian being 4 shit.
I had been using a couple GABA caps a night and ran out b4 remembering to order. I went to a supp store here and they only had this powder drink for 70 dollars. I was like wtf are you on??? He said he had too much so he would sell them for 35 a piece so I bought two. Still overpriced but the shit was pretty good if you used 3 servings or so. Anyway, trying to keep it short I looked around to just get the ingredients on my own (GABA and ZMA), and found on BB.com. I bought High Power Nutrition GABA (300 grams for 14.99) and High Power ZMA (180 caps for 18.95) The GABA is an insanely great price. I've been doing 4 grams of GABA mixed in with 8 oz of FP crystal light, and 3 caps of ZMA about 30-45 minutes b4 I want to go to sleep and it has beeng working even better than the Black Mist product I got the idea from.
Black Mist was 35 bucks and i got less than twenty servings out of it (my serving size, not what the bottle says)
Buying ingredients separate I get 75 servings of GABA and 60 of the ZMA for 34 bucks.......triple the servings for a dollar less :D

It's a powder, not a pill. I think that might help a little, but I don't know. Anyway, it does work. After a half hour or so I feel a little flushed....kinda like plain niacin but without the itching and redness, and then just really chilled out. The reason I can never sleep is my brain decides to think out every problem/chore/errand/whatever I have to do the next day the minute i lay down to sleep. This combo helps to relax me and slow things down enough to fall asleep

look at your sleep enviroment first before you go drugging yourself up. what's your bedtime routine? what5 state is your bed in?
my bed is awesomely comfy. i can't wait to get in the bastard at night, lig out and catch some zzzzz 8)

GABA worked well for me as a teen when I suffered with insomnia....now I use val, zopiclone or xanax. A mix of all three with a spliff was an experience the other sunday after legs, I only moved from the couch to feed and that was hard work :)
I may give GABA another shot and cut back on the meds.

valerian root and hop extract. But you will have to take more than recommended.
Glutamin helps with sleep as well. Tryptophan is not bad.
Take Tryptophan on an empty stomach, followed by glutamin, valerian root and hop extract 20-30mins later.

Dim lights, get a sugar high a few hours before sleeping than a protein shake before sleep. This will get your blood sugar down, also don't drink caffiene. Then do something real boring before you sleep. Something that's boring that involves no stress, and only do it about an hour before sleep. It's all about conditioning if your brain thinks it's time to sleep you sleep hardcore. however if your brain thinks your in the middle of something important your gonna be stuck in high gear.

1.) avoid caffeine during the day
2.) Run around the block
3.) hot shower, or bath (don't jack yet)
4.) drink chamomile, and orange leaves tea.
5.) take Valerian
6.) yes, jack off/ have sex
7.) Try pitch dark room, relaxing music if you like.
8.) do relaxation techniques when in bed.

Do you really take 10 mg per dosage?
I usually take 3 mg, but on occasion I have taken 6. Knocks me on my ass every time.

Anyway, just stop taking benadryl for 4 days before your test.

in any case, its to the point now where im taking benadryl every single night now. otherwise i just lie there and think myself into a festering pile of stress for 4 hours and end up getting 3 hours of 'sleep'.
