Title: Fight Night fights..
Post by: coltrane on September 16, 2010, 07:28:03 AM
Pretty damn good fights last night for a free ufc card.

Really liked Pearson/Miller.   Also the Tibau fight was nice.   Good action.

I don't think Marquart was able to show us anything though.. kinda got a lucky tko..  Palhares wasn't paying attention like an idiot.

Good FREE fights though..

I thought Marquardt looked awful.

He got lucky, and god knows if he cheated or not.

Was Greg Jackson in GSP's corner for the whole BJ greasing incident?

I thought he was.

They said the refs checked him out etc after the fight.  Things is, that fight basically just started.  I don't know how he coulda been than sweaty to blame it on sweat.  Who knows though.

How would one go about greasing though?  One of a fighter's team would have to hand vasoline thru the fence or over it..   which is possible, but you'd think cameras would pick that up.

Pearson gets on my nerves, Miller is the perfect antidote for him.  Tall, rangy, decent hands and a solid ground game, good for Cole.  About Marquardt/Palhares, any fighter with half a brain warms up before the fight in the locker room and they come out sweaty.  Of course they are dabbed with towels before they enter, but that dosen't stop you from sweating.  Nate said after the fight the Texas commision wiped his legs off to actually test them for greasing agents and he didn't have any it was just sweat.  No formal compliant can be made because the issue was already squashed by the commision.

Chute- if thats the case, Palhares is an idiot. He should have stood back up and adressed his concerns at the end of the round. Marquardt was being so timid that theres no way he finishes that fight or even wins the round without Palhares giving him a free shot.  We have seen numerous times where a guy gets a low blow and the ref doesn't see it, or some other complaint is made and the fight continues.

I hate when guys do that shit, especially when they are faking it ala James Irvin or Josh Koscheck. Unless its a low blow and you cant continue without the ref stepping in, suck it up and fight through it. With the camera angles and fighting officials mointoring everything, cornermen that can get the refs attention, and 100 other safeguards in place, complaining about something when your on your back with the fight still going on is a dumb move.
