The last 4 days or so, I've been getting very regular heart palpitations through out the day every 30 mins or so sometimes less....
Not sure what it is.... I read that it could be a number of things like: stress (I did just start my PhD and its a lot of work), or caffeine (I drink a TON of coke Zero), or lack of sleep (my sleep has been up and down recently, some nights good, some nights I stay up too late and get up early), or thyroid problems (doubt it), or something more serious (maybe).
Anyone ever get these on what seems like a regular basis?
I weighed myself last night a little after dinner, was 240

happened to me awhile back....likely just stress...regardless, i think it means you are going to die soon...

Atrial fibrulation, could be caused by a number of things. If it hasn't stopped by now, after 3 days, go see a doc asap. Could be something could be nothing, not worth risking.

yeah, cut the soda. take some aspirin. and go to the doc. sadly, i can't count how many times i've heard of a 30-something healthy Bber keeling over, and all his friends say "yeah, he was talking about going to see a doc' then they keel over a day later.
go see a doc, get a scan, and cut back on the caff.

i got this a few times at night after drinking a boat load of monster sugar free drinks and coffee through the day. had me so tripping out i went to a cardiologist. did everything but the stress test. i was told i was fine and there was nothing that seemed out of order or raised the docs eyebrow.
lay off the caffeine for a while.

Holy shit are you serious?? Maybe he killed her for some insurance $$. Geez the least he could have done was fake it!

Could be stress-overload. Anxiety. Panic attacks...
It could be a problem with your heart... or not.
It could be brought on by subconscious thoughts that trigger the "fight-or-flight" syndrome.
Bottom line: Us bitches here are too stupid to be doctors. Go get a professional opinion. If you need your hand held, do it this way.
1) Go to your GP (General Practitioner) or PA (Physician's assistant)- a PA is cheaper if you don't have insurance. Get a referral to a Cardiologist and rule out any heart problems. They can do Sonograms, EKG's, etc. You can even wear a 24 hour or 30 day heart monitor. This way, the Cardiologist can look back at when you had your palpitations and see if the heart was truly having a problem. If not, it's probably anxiety and stress overload.
2) Call 911
3) Wait it out... and worry all the time, which will just add to your current stress levels
4) "Borrow" some Xanax from a "friend" and see if anything changes...
I can probably think of more, but if'n I were y'all, I would probably start with numero uno.

Yes, go to the doc and find out what it is. My father has been battling atrial fibrillation for a couple years. If that's what it is, definitely cut the caffeine, consider a magnesium supplement (without magnesium stearate) especially if you drink chlorinated water, and maybe Q10. Might be worth investigating if you have a low grade, persistent infection too. My pop recently took a 28 day course of antibiotics and didn't fibrillate once during that time, which was by far the longest he has gone without a fibrillation episode in a couple years.
The main danger with fibrillation, as I understand it, is that blood isn't moved properly within the heart and there's a risk of clotting which can lead to a stroke when normal heart function resumes. Don't fuck around. If you continue to get these episodes before you get to a doc, take some aspirin. But get to the doc.

For a couple of months I was having some issues like this about 3 years ago now. I was still using speed stacks and ephedrine regularly, but I used it nearly everyday for about 15 years so didn't think much of it. I was really stressed at work, and thought I was just experiencing anxiety from time to time. I would go to the gym sporadically, but almost every time one of two things would happen. I would feel all anxious to the point that i'd leave the gym cuz I was freaked out I couldn't harldly breath, or I would do a set and then literally feel like I was going to pass out. Being the stubborn asshole I am, I never went to the Dr.
So one day I'm sitting at work dragging ass, don't want to do nothing. I finally decide I need to get going so I take a couple sips of a speed stack. Probably had less than 1/3 of the bottle. 20 minutes or so goes by and I start feeling it a little. Another ten, and I'm like ok let's roll. I reach forward to make my first sales call and my hand is trembling, and I get light headed. I take a couple deep breaths, ok I'm fine....reach to dial again and I can't even hit the right numbers. Hand goes numb, shaking, light headed, heart starts racing.....WTF is goin on??? I stand up and everything goes black for a second and I start to fall. Luckily had one hand on the desk and slumped on it. I take some deep breaths and go outside....it's november in the midwest and i'm sitting outside in a polo t shirt huffing and puffing and sweating. Half hour goes by and I think I'm fine so I go back in. Hit the elevator button and while waiting my leg goes stiff and left shoulder feels like it's slumped down and my arm is numb. Holy fuck, I'm dying is all I thought. A co worker walked by on his way out to smoke so i went out with him and explained what happened. He stayed out there with me for an hour. I had him go back up to get my stuff and security came out wanting to call rescue. I finally convinced them that wasnt going to happen and drove my ass straight to the Dr. Found out I had high bp which i didn't know and the drink spiked me way the fuck up there. ut me on a 24 hour heart monitor test and found out I had SVT as well. Had I not finally gone things could have been way worse. I only felt like I was going to die that time

Are you on any EQ,Tren,Halo, etc. ??? ???
-
It could be the caffeine. I had the same issue quite a few years ago with heart palpitations and panic attacks. I was drinking a lot of coffee then. My doc told me to cut back on the caffeine, so I did and the problem went away like magic.

My blood pressure went from 120/70 to to 150-160/90-100 using 100mg eod tren a and that was when I was just sitting still. Some compounds can really effect your blood pressure in a bad way. After stopping the tren it took 3-4 months for it to go back down to normal. I will never use tren again.

I remeber waking up in the middle of the night with panic attacks nast shit.

Listen to the Coach and Tapeworm.
My Dad had it, ignored it and had the stroke thing start to happen.
I had to drive him from one hospital to another cos hospital one was too full and the ambulances were maxed out in peak hour traffic.
He was admitted straight into emergency and they injected his abdomen all over with hirudin anticoagulants (hirudin= leech juice) to stop the clotting and he was in agony for 2 days. Imagine deep bruising all over your belly, but the stroke was avoided.
Stop dicking around with this shite and go to a doctor. They'll do a cardiogram reading and you might get some chest hair ripped out when they pull the tape off, but you'll have answers.
This atrial fibrillation stuff is not to be laughed at. You could get lucky and it's just caffeine, stress, severe sleep deprivation or a magnesium deficiency kicking you around.

Doesn't sound like much fun but glad your dad was ok, marcie. Did his doctors find a non-surgical solution to stop his fibrillation?
-
He's on warfarin. Gets tested all the time to check his INR levels are ok. It's a never ending nightmare. His atrial fibrillation is a constant so he's on digoxin, a blood pressure medication and some other meds. They used steroids on him to open up his lung airways last year when he got pneumonia and it jacked his blood sugar so high, as a side effect he is now a non insulin dependendent diabetic.
This wanker he calls a friend always shakes hands with him and presses hard resulting in palm sized bleeds on the back of his hand. Bumps are bad news as bleeds can go on silently internally. Once they are on warfarin its for life. Theres no way of telling INR levels without a pathology test and you start to get very paranoid about it. He had a subconjuntival haemorrhage in his right eye a couple of weeks back, looked awful. They just get so fragile.
And this guy was strong as an ox. Lived clean, worked construction and looked after himself too. The atrial fibrillation started and boom........... One thing after another.
So, no surgery but medication that's higher maintenance than Laura Bingle.
:-X

I used to get them all the time. It's like you said - stress, working out hard, etc. Some are just genetically more susceptible, blah blah.
I take coq 10 supps it helps. Very rarely do I praise a supplement but this stuff actually seems to do something.

Most here would be manly and ignore it. Lots of them are now sharing space with worms.

Are you taking any Clenbuterol? If so, what's the dosage. That can definately cause palpitations if you are starting to too high dosages.
If not the clen, then its likely the coffee.

Damn, sounds like a rough road. :( My dad decided against Warfarin but it sounds like your dad has a more severe case. A cardiologist suggested an ablation procedure to my pop, where they sever a nerve which is misfiring and causing the fibrillation. If your dad's fibrillation is constant and the Warfarin is bad news, it might be worth asking about.
My dad's is intermittent, couple times a week for varying durations. But like I said, when he was on antibiotics there was no fibrillation at all for weeks on end. (It was a particular sort of antibiotic that could treat a prostate infection. I think the 3 'privileged' organs are the prostate, heart, and brain, and require special drugs which can get in there.) Perhaps there could be a connection between your dad's pneumonia and his AF?
Did your dad ever have a urinary tract infection? That was how this all started for my dad. Or do you remember an infection or illness of any kind as the beginning of his fibrillation?
-

I'd just shake it off. I tell my organs to cut the shit out and they listen. Plus, most doctors don't know shit and just know how to run up a bill.

Man, you're scaring me.
I know he had prostate issues, he sorted that out. Then the atrial fibrillation just long enough after the prostate stuff to make a connection nebulous. Two stents in his heart after angina showed up, no ongoing heart troubles other than the fibrillation. He got urinary tract infections after the pneumonia (which masqueraded as a common cold for a couple of days until he started going blue). The delirium that came with the urinary infections was NOT fun. He didnt even know who I was. Couple of courses of antibiotics and he was fine. But he does get them more often.
Take home message, look after yourself, catch the weird shite early and pray like hell the heavy stuff skipped your genes and that docs never get their claws in you.
I'll look into the ablation op, thanks. The thing with warfarin is how good its statistics are. Way lower prognosis for stroke, but they get fragile really fast.
He fell in the shower last year and I had a devil of a time lifting him. You cant grip hard cos he'll bleed under the skin, cant drag him. I threw a towel over bits a daughter should never see and luckily he had just enough strength to grip me around the neck in a hug. So I lifted him up from a squat and got him out where he slid down onto a chair I put right outside the shower. He's 96kgs, so it wasnt fun.
Hope your Dad weathers this stuff better.

No, go to the doctor - it also may be associated with high blood pressure. Most likely, the doctor will give you some medicine to take care of it at night and lower of blood pressure, and slow down your heart beats.

Heart palps are almost always stress related.
A tip from some cardiology shit I know which might help you- palpitations are ok as long as they are followed by a regular heart rhythm. What you want to watch out for is if the heart palps and then pauses and then beats really fast for a beat or two and then slows down. Like it was catching up with it's rhythm, make sense? So if your heartbeat is like
bump bump bump bu---uump bump bump bump
You are ok
If it's like
bump bump bump bu------MP BUMP BUMP BUMP BUmp BUmp Bump bump bump bump
You probably have some issues and be concerned.

You guys are freaking me out a little....
No I don't take any clenbuteral, and no Anabolic steroids, no GH, insulin, or anything of the sorts!
and yes Coke Zero does have caffeiene in it (the Zero is for zero calories)....
Just taking the usual supplements, protein powder, creatine, NO, BCAAs, not taking fat-burners
As I mentioned previously, I have been a bit stressed, actually I've been VERY stressed with this whole PhD thing (my wife says she's never seen me like this before), sleep has been out of whack, lots of caffeine... Oh I've also recently significantly upped my protein intake, not sure if that has anything to do with it... on the plus side my work outs have been going great!
I'm quite honored that Ron came up here to share with me what he thought....
It seems that the concensus is that I should go to a doctor.... but the more I read about it the more I see that what I listed above could have something to do with it... I'm gonna try to adjust my habits, sleep and stress levels, and drop the caffeiene (sigh), if things dont get better in a week or two I'll schedule an appointment with the doc!
I've had these palpitations before, but never for like a whole week straight? its always been something like once every few weeks/months!
I did just turn 28 last week, am I getting old ???
-
We should be freaking you out, go to the fucking doctor asap.

There is no caffine in Coke Zero. Hence the 'Zero'
The Zero is in relation to carbs, not caffeine... dork.
-
The zero is in relation to calories AND caffine. Look at a bottle the next time you are in a shop.
It says something like 'zero calories, zero sugar and zero caffine'.

It has caffeine. The "Zero" IIRC is because men didn't want to order a "diet" drink.

Sadiki,
Go to your local doctor and explain your symptoms.
That rhythm you are trying to describe can be anything. Next time, try taking your heart rate for a full 60 seconds and then posting what you arrived at. Atrial Fibrillation usually manifests with an elevated heart rate and then accompanying symptoms, what you tried to sound out appears more like an intermittent large (a longer ventricular contraction) contraction that then resumes back to sinus rhythm. Your doctor can do a quick EKG and if need be send for some Cardiac Markers (The likes of troponin, CK-MB, LDH, AST, pNp etc..) if he suspected the prior presence of a potentially minor infarct. While you're there, get a full panel of blood tests done (CBC w/Diff, CMP, UA etc..).
That erratic beat you tried to describe, by way of onomatopoeia, off the top of my head can be suggestive of a Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC). Granted, without an EKG to truly show what's going on, it CAN BE ANYTHING, so don't take anything said here to be true or suggestive of the true issue.
It can be nothing, or it can very well be something, so go get a quick EKG done and have them run a quick set of labs.
"1"
P.S. You don't even have to waste your time by making an appointment to see your doctor at his earliest convenience. Instead, just go to your local ER and as soon as they triage you, say that you came in because you have been having terrible chest pains whereby you feel palpitations. In that scenario, they will immediately run labs and get an EKG to see if you're stable..

funny thing about "chasing the dream"
"Big ACH" will go to sleep at around 900pm tonight so he can wake up early to make his meals for the week, putting them in their respective tupperware containers and such while I will go to my friend "Trick's" apartment, do "whip its" and coke(Yes, i know i'm 32) and go to that bar on Lark Street where that blonde chic bartender with big tits and I will make out after her shift.

Last week, I found 12 pks of diet mountain dew, 4 for $10. So I drank 4 12-packs in a week. I started having the same weird pains again. So I cut back on the soda and I'm fine again. Caff is a pretty powerful thing when you take enough.

I know some people in their 50's and 60's that absolutely cannot ever, ever, ever.. (did I say "ever?") drink coffee again. It's that bad (for them)
I know from personal experience that coffee and its effects on my system are as obvious as day and night. I still drink it every once in a while, but I usually end up regretting it at some point in the day.

weeeeee I just had a monster palp, felt like my breathing was finished and my heart felt 3 feet wide
and as usual, it always leads to taking a shit because 99% of the time its indigestion or IBS(irritable bowel syndrome)
the other 1% of the time will most likely mena I wont be posting anymore -- lololol
-
The last 4 days or so, I've been getting very regular heart palpitations through out the day every 30 mins or so sometimes less....
I weighed myself last night a little after dinner, was 240
Perhaps THIS could be something to look at, sodium boy...

It has caffeine. The "Zero" IIRC is because men didn't want to order a "diet" drink.
Coca-Cola Zero 12(ounces) 35(mg caf) 2.9(mg/oz)

I had a bottle infront of me earlier that said 'Zero Caffine' Maybe different forumals indifferent countries.

I started getting Anxiety when I started to ECA..and will NOT touch that shit again, or even SODA of any kind including caffeine. I started to get sensitive from caffiene, along with stress, steroids, hormonal fluctuations, too much estrogen. They do FUCK with brain chemistry. I would go see a doc.

You can find that deal here every single week. Is FL usually overpriced on everything? What does a lb of 93% lean beef or chicken breasts go for there just outta curiousity.
I used to work with a lady that drank 12-18 diet cokes every single day for the entire three years that I knew her. She would skip breakfast, and rarely have lunch. The only time she would always eat was at dinner after she cooked for the fam, and then her and her hubby would split a case of beer. She ended up getting colon cancer >:(
My stomach would hurt so bad drinking more than two pops a day espially if it was MD. Don't know how you could down that much in a week dude :o

???
Might be PACs, PVCs, Paroxysmal VT, Paroxysmal AFib, or A Flutter. Cut caff- coffee, tea, sodas// Get some lytes done Na+, Mg++, Ca++, EKG, Holter, Echo cardiogram.
Don't worry if it was VFib you'd be dying or on your way out. This might be a reflection of all the gear u bought over the Internet too.
Be careful though. The Cardiologist might be gay and just want to feel u up!

Yes, soda is a big ole vice for me. Guess one of the few things positive my current injury did for me was limit my soda intake.

funny thing about "chasing the dream"
"Big ACH" will go to sleep at around 900pm tonight so he can wake up early to make his meals for the week, putting them in their respective tupperware containers and such while I will go to my friend "Trick's" apartment, do "whip its" and coke(Yes, i know i'm 32) and go to that bar on Lark Street where that blonde chic bartender with big tits and I will make out after her shift.
Funny, I've never had any heart palpitations....keep chasing the dream, Big Ach
EDIT: i'm not flaming on big ach btw.
I just find it ironic that HE has had the heart palpitations and not me
LOL funny, I wish my life was THAT organized!!! Considering I sleep between 1-3 am every night, eat out practically everyday... Love my Subway sandwiches! I am married though, so I have that stability!

I heard swatting bee's can be an effective form of cardio for weight loss...true?
Or do you believe you could possibly sustain an injury. like say....tearing a bicep?
