For 5 yrs I have been keeping my weight in check by watching my simple carb intake. Hovered around 200 lbs to 204 lbs (6') .. about 11 months ago got into a relationship and dropped my guard by eating more mexican food than normal as well as a few more desserts here and there. Can't blame her as she is more than willing to let me eat what I want and she likes going to the gym as much as I do. But recently I stepped on the scale and was 215 lbs.. It was a wake up call. Started back last week on healthy eating and I'm down to 210 lbs today, heading to 195-200 in a couple weeks.

Weight is just a number, if you didn't notice the weight gain without stepping on the scale, it can't be all bad.

scales are the worst thing for the gym.....if you cant analyze with a mirror, i got bad news for you...

Yeah
I just realized recently I don't need a scale to tell me I'm fat. :'(
Fuck that thing, besides it's had like piles of kids toys and shit piled on it for like six months, who knows how fucking accurate it is.

Lifting up your shirt and looking at your abs (or lack thereof) tells you everything you need to know...

For the most part I agree... when people ask "Do I need to lose weight, I weigh X lbs and am X ' tall" I think look in the mirror idiot...
I use the scale for a couple reasons.. First, it's a good indicator for me that I need to be aware of a potential weight gain. Since I usually hang around 204 lbs if I see I'm at 208, I can make some early adjustments to my diet as the gain will likely be body fat for me. It doesnt always show up in the mirror but it always shows up on the scale.
Second, it's a good motivator when I am trying to drop the extra body fat as it is an immediate guage as to how I'm doing, rather than looking for the results in the mirror. If I was 6% body fat and ripped like most getbiggers, I think it would probably make the scale less useful.

My weight flucuates a lot... mostly water weight... a little fat, a little muscle-- depends on activity levels and food intake...

A month and 10 days later I'm only down 2 lbs. I had dropped 7 lbs in 12 days but the weekend partying and dinners at mexican restuarants took their toll. The culprit is my diet as my cardio and weight lifting is about the same. With the upcoming holidays I had better get on the ball and get down close to my goal quick and watch what I eat during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
