Time Magazine confirmed this a couple years ago.  I think the UFC has surpassed boxing and bodybuilding big time.

Don't think Dana WHite invested anything.  They made him President and gave him 10% as part of the package.  I never heard he paid anything for it.  But whatever he paid if he did was a grewat investment

I had always heard Dana was a struggling exercise instructor from Boston and his friends the Fertitas bought the company and put him in charge as a favor.  It paid off though.

Is that a big number for a whole sport? Real Madrid/Manchester united etc are worth that on their own. You tie in worldwide tv revenue, showtime, HBO, asia, europe and boxing would still dwarf that.

Dana was a boxercise instructor who had some rich contacts.

Dana Convinced them to buy it.. They are old friends of his apparently. So because of dana they're 2.5 billion dollar richer. (they were billionaires before also)

they bought it for 2 million and invested something like 30 million right away to reform it

2 million - 2500 million in 9 years lol.

Yes this is true.  he did convince them to buy it.  I am still pretty sure he didn't invest anything cause he wasn't that rich back then.  He had the gift of gab and got 10% as an incentive.  It paid off.

I think your leaving out the fact that this is in one country, one league, is new. They have low costs all their fighters combined quals about a squad. There's also a load  of skimming from other companies, like spike, tshirt companies, etc. I say the whole industry is worth about  10 billion.

I wouldn't say the UFC has low costs.  They put on a real show and that takes alot of money.  The advertising alone easily exceeds millions of dollars a year.  MMA defintiely makes a ton of money.  I wouldn't say $10 billion though.  That would put baseball industry at about 1 trillion considering every country in the world plays it.

Lol baseball. Rofl, spics and yanks love the sport everyone else couldn't care less. Still a trillion is alot. That's like 7 percent of the us gdp you guys must really love that stuff. ::) Shit that's about 2 percent of the global.

Anywho, maybe ten's a little high but atleast 5.

The whole world DOES play baseball its just not as huge elsewhere as in the USA
Title: Re: UFC Now Worth $2.5 Billion

A huge percentage of UFC's turnover gets put back in to advertising. And i don't get the point about single soccer clubs, if you took the sport as a whole and then added in tv, sponsorship etc, then obviously given the fact that there are a lot of clubs pushing a billion, then the entire sport is astronomical. The UFC is completely centralised, it is mma. Average nfl team value is 1 billion, a bit of perspective.

Really?  Maybe you should see how it does in Japan.  The largest corporations in Japan sponsor and own teams.  baseball is also played around the world and has been for decades.  China is even big on baseball

I think Baseball is like Cricket, it's big in a few country's but gets little in the way of mainstream coverage, it's not really a glamor sport. I did forget Japan though, good point.

There are 190 + countries in the world , 20 countries have pro baseball league ,out of those 20 countries  , 13 are not worth mentioning.
So 7 or 8 countries out of 190+ ::)
