thinking about doing it. I'm still learning and am not sure.
I'm tired of the crap I've been eating.
what do you think?
-
i'm thinking about it too.

Very restrictive, cant go anywhere. Depends on how clean you want to go.
Also very interesting because you learn way more than you wanted to know about food farming and production methods. Long term life changing stuff. You can look into the eating genetics of your race and how long ago your ancestors left the land, (and therefore stopped eating good quality food) if you will. You can also get into the type of foods they would have been producing, specific species etc and look at how viable food choices that detailed are.
Without fail when you do this kind of digging you can see when certain family diseases showed up etc. Like I said, if you really go into it it is life changing stuff.
Reckon it would be best to do it in summer when produce is at its best and most abundant to make things easier and cheaper. Therefore eat normal all year, do a spring clean some time in spring (detox) and then eat paleo all summer.
You looking at planting anything yourself to grow and eat?
Any supplementation allowed?
Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, cavemen were 5'2", 100 lbs and scavenged all day hoping to get enough calories to make it back to the cave that night before some t-rex assbanged them....sounds like a great choice...

usually you have some good posts but this was kinda dumb. I'm jsut looking for some clean food.

I'm not a fan of HFCS and processed crap and commercial farming.
I want grass fed meat, that kinda stuff.
not a tree hugger at all.

No such thing as "clean food".

paleo diet is stupid.

I wish there was a poll option :D

I guess you are against anything salted or frozen or with vitamins as well. By all means, if you want to be a shitbrain and engage in sadomachoism, do it.
By the way, commercial farming is a very good thing and better than organic in most instances as far as the environment and health of the crop as well as the crop yield is concerned.

Sorry man....I'm tired....the only advice I have on that diet is that we had one guy in our company try it, and it seemed like a pain in the ass and he didn't make any improvements. I'd suggest maybe trying a few of the things, but adapt it to you.

Don`t egg him on. lololol

I don't know TA. ... I know you love commercial farming.
I seen this a couple of weeks ago Im sure you can find it out there.

I like my chickens with enough hormones pumped into them so that I catch a residual buzz from them.... ;D

I doubt I'll go strict anyway. if there are some things I can change about my diet then I'm all for it.

Good luck with it.
Some folks reckon their emotions changed with this diet. Like some violent purging and then they calmed down. Bear in mind this is anecdotal, just stuff people I know said about the experience.
It will make eating out socially very difficult. Most places have pre prepared stuff or have marinated things to death. BBQ's are the least difficult socially to organise with no use of condiments or dressings on the salads. You can provide it for guests so they dont think you're too weird, but you can eat clean while blending in. Hence summer being the best/easiest time for it, again.
I wrote this massive essay on the paleo diet focussing on how jawlines got ruined in 2nd and 3rd generation off the land children resulting in teeth crowding and massive remedial dental work being needed. Didnt matter if their parents were from mountain regions, riverine, lake or sea island where they were relying on the ocean heavily for their food. Longitude or altitude didnt seem to matter either. A shift to processed eating and the stress of city living, hit their health hard and the kids were affected. They reckon it takes many generations for your gizzards to adapt to not being on the land, and that it is the optimal health model for eating. They even went into speculating about mental diseases having their origin in this eating, massive changing of things on the subsistence level. Not even touching the alcohol issue.
Was interesting stuff.
;D

anyway I'm off to the gym. see what you guys have to say when I get back :D

I`m sorry I wasted the time reading all of Michael Pollan`s books. There is ALOT that he gets wrong. Anyone who advocates paying MORE for food for no Scientific reason or from an Factual/Evidence based reason is a moron. He is out of touch with reality and with Empirical evidence.

Hi Weston Price. Not the"processed food" myth again. Its total bullshit you know.

Also your diet assertion of generational ruination is totally false and bullshit. The Genotype determines the Phenotype. The Phenotype NEVER determines the Genotype. You should have gotten an F on your paper as it is an impossibility to support your claim. Furthmore the genome would not change so quickly in a closed population. (not that the diet would affect it in any way since as I stated above about Genotype/Phenotype).
Also, what the fuck is a "land children" ? Makes no sense.

Let me give a brief example of the Genotype/Phenotype thing in case you don`t understand.
Lets say one day you take up running as a hobby. You do it for 20 years straight and have children after 20 years. All of that running you did will have no bearing whatsoever on your children or their ability to run.
The same thing applies to diet. The 2nd and 3rd generation would not be affected whatsoever.

Actually the latest approach in gene science is that you can turn genes "on" and "off" according to your nutrition and behavior.
For example, doing sports will turn on certain genes in your body and turn other genes off.
The Paleo Diet is total bullshit.

That has no bearing on inheritance or offspring whatsoever (again, the Phenotype can NEVER determine the Genotype) as the genes are still present, even when dormant.

Made for interesting reading. Lecturer was insane about this stuff and Weston Price provided part of the framework for my analysis. No scientific studies were provided for most of what he said but it did ask some interesting questions. Got a good grade on it.
People have to make up their own minds about this stuff.
Speaking of which, are you sharing the recipes for some of these cooking creations you post about anywhere?
:)

You should try the pedo diet. Nothing but kit kat bars.

Thoughts on Foie Gras?

If you want to go easy, as in "not thinking a lot if i can eat it or not", try the "green faces diet".

I did it for a while when i was too lazy too think about what to eat, it's not bad.

I can PM you any of them if you like or post perhaps. Right now as we speak I am making Chicken Tikka Masala with Basmati Rice and Naan.

LOL @ people who don't get it. ;D

I really should be in bed though....Jezebelle and I are always up late cooking.

Hard to say really. For instance, if the duck is fattened nearly before slaughter than it is a bit more humane than forcefeeding from the get go. There should be labels stating each practice implemented.

;D great post

Its the best "diet" I have ever done. I have more energy, sleep less, don't get tired, and feel better than I have in years. Anyone applying any common sense whatsoever can figure out that eating the cleanest, most preservative and chemical free diet possible is healthier than eating shit out of a box or can with two "real" ingredients and a dozen chemicals. I have never seem a person try it for a couple weeks that didn't report great results. The only reason people have trouble with it is because it is hard to eat out, esp at fast food places.

Hehe. Dinosaurs and cavemen on the planet at the same time!? Coach? Is that you? ;D

Agreed...I follow this also and my bf is now at 8-10% at 6-3 210. You will not get huge by any means but unless you are juicing and intend to go pro who cares.

this is what I"m interested in. I just want the choice.

Same here - I look and feel so much better after dropping wheat/bread and sugar from my diet. As for growing size on a Paleo approach, it's not that far from any other healthy diet since it emphasizes plenty of grass-fed meats, fish, eggs, nuts, veggies etc. in their natural state. Although a lot of paleo eaters tend to consume low-carb, it's actually agnostic on carb intake - you can eat as much as want of grain-free / gluten-free carbs like sweet potatoes, buckwheat pancakes, veggies etc. Just no refined sugars or flour.
Paleo can also be a meat-lover's ideal diet as well - if you want to knock back endless amounts of steak then go for it. No worries about natural saturated fat and butter, just avoid vegetable oils.
FYI Caveman like Cro-Magnon actually averaged about 5'10" or more - they were taller than neolithic man who degenerated physically on a diet of heavy grains and sugar. Lots of misconceptions about the diet in this thread.
