Ever?
-
Lee Haney?
-
technically there hasnt been
ever since magazine contracts have been around, since the mid 90s or whatever, a weider guy always won
there was year when ronnie colemans was unsigned or something, but it was just a lapse before they re-signed him
-
A non-weider bodybuilder will never win the olympia. Not a chance in hell.
Dont let chick tell you otherwise, his head is so far up the ifbb's ass he can see its teeth.

if jay comes in this year, like he did last year......and deserves the title again..........weider/ami will have to bite the bullet for a year and give it to him even though he is no longer with them
because if he genuinely deserves the title.........and they take it away from him..........it will be TOO OBVIOUS that Weider/AMI predetermines the olympia champion.......adn the contest will lose ALL credibility in the eyes of the fans
for them to strip him of the title, immediatly after going to MD.........would just be TOO flagrant
so paradoxically........for weider/ami to preserve their monopoly, and so the house of cards doesnt come crashing down............they might have to give it to jay this year, just to preserve the thin veil of credibility and objectivity
-
I thought Lee Haney switched one year and still won? ???
-
Haney was with twin lab when he won 91. there was talk that he wouldnt win because of that but we know the outcome.
-
All I know is this: I have my popcorn and diet soda ready for the Mr. O. While some guys are out getting chicks, I will be home watching men in
thongs posing trunks.

Well... when everybody were watching men in tights (super bowl) I was out getting chicks so IMO I can devote this weekend to watch men in posing trunks... 8)

Ronnie Coleman won in 1998, and he wasn't a Weider bber.

Guys, WEIDER created the Mr. Olympia contest! Bodybuilding has become nothing more than ENTERTAINMENT, just like the WWE Wrestling. This shit is not a sport, not at this time, although it very well could be if it was done properly(legitimate points system).

When he dies, either Arnold should but it out or, the Arnold should be bigger, because he has a bigger name draw and bigger name cache than Weider, or it could be like "Arnold S Present's Joe Weider's Mr. Olympia"

No, but he did sign a weider contract immediately after.
my bet is he had an agreement with the powers that be

He was with MET-Rx when he won that one.

He wasn't "resigned". Ronnie was with MET-Rx when he won his first Olympia (I have old magazines in my garage with MET-Rx ads, featuring Ronnie in a red MET-Rx jacket, standing over his Sandow). Weider signed him, buying out his MET-Rx contract, about a month afterwards.

Haney won his last two Sandows (1990 and 1991), while working for Weider's main rival, Twinlab (remember the Lee Haney Mass Fuel Kit; I still have the video tape from that, back in the day).

Your conspiracy claim does not compute. Again, Haney went to MD in 1990. Yet, nobody was out to "strip him of the title". He won two, while on MD's/Twinlab's payroll.

In 1991 Haney signed with Twin Lab and Mucular Development
In 1998 Ronnie was a Met-RX athlete

no, what your saying does not "compute".............there were no magazine contracts back in 1991.........lee haney was signed with twinlab, not muscular development
stop making things up and psssing them as truth
and ronnie colemen was at a lapse in his contract , but was not signed with anyone else either,,,,,,,,,,,adn shortly thereafter he signed back with weider

After his win in 1998, Ronnie was in a met-rx ad, rocking a red Metrx Jacket and holding the sandow statue

HELLLLOOOOOOOO!! Twinlab OWNED Muscular Development magazine, back in the early 90s. One was synonymous with the other. If you signed with Twinlamb, you were in Muscular Development/Muscular Development-Fitness-Health/All-Natural Muscular Development by default. Look at the MD issues from the early 90s. See if you don't find Haney's articles in that particular magazine, along WITH ads for Haney's Mass Fuel Kit by (you guessed it) Twinlab.

He wasn't signed BACK with Weider, because he wasn't with Weider when he won his first Olympia. He was with MET-Rx. Check issue 201 of MuscleMag International. You will finds MET-Rx ads with Ronnie in a MET-Rx red jacket, standing over his Sandow. At no time, prior to '98 was he with Weider. And he wasn't signed with them until AFTER Weider bought out his MET-Rx contract, which he had since 1995.
Don't believe me? Check this ad for MET-Rx with HMB, from 1996. Recognize anyone there?

Ronnie didn't have a magazine contract with ANYBODY, until he joined Weider. Then, he was in their magazines and promoting their supplements.
What you don't seem to get was that, back in the day, that both Weider and Twinlab owned Flex/M&F and MD, respectively. There was NO seperation.
If you signed with Weider, you rocked their supplements and did articles for FLEX and M&F.
If you signed with Twinlab, you rocked THOSE supplements and appeared in MD/MDFH/ANMD.
Twinlab owned MD, until 2001, when Steve Blechman bought out his father and brothers, took the magazine, and separated from the company. That's why he was able to start talking about "Hardcore" bodybuilding and steroids, after promising (when it was "All-Natural" Muscular Development" that no steroid-using bodybuilder would ever appear in his magazine again.

If Jay retains the title, he'll be the latest non-Weider athlete to win a Sandow, following in the footsteps of Haney and Coleman.
-
Ben would not have allowed this to happen.

Ben would not have allowed this to happen.
I'll assume that's tongue-in-cheek, since it happened twice while Ben (Weider); see the aforementioned Coleman (1998) and Haney (1990, 1991).
