If the bodybuilders in the 202 class are competing, they should be maximum 202.....This crap that English and Correa pull by going up to 210-215 is bullcrap and unfair....It's called 202 for a reason...
-
Who gives a shit about 202 anyway?
That's like Formula 1's having a crap series inside the F1... "You guys can't drive and have shitty cars so drive in your own F1-mini-class..."
What a joke. Feel free to have weight classes in amateurs but in professional league? WTF?
Or think about it being in NFL:
"You guys are so small and slow that you can't keep up with us so come and play in your own NFL-losers-class before our real games"
Or in NHL:
"You guys are homos and can't skate so come and play in your own little NHL-homo-class for 5 mins before our real games that people pay to see"
I don't get it! Can you see now after my examples how stupid this 202-thingy is?
If you are not able to be a professional then fucking go to amateur-level again! Plain and simple.

English looked about 225!
-
I thought they weighed them before the show and they were all on or under the limit?
Or do you mean they should be under 202 all year round?

i agree, they should either way them before going on stage
or make a limit on how may pounds a guy can re-feed
like not go over 205 at any time
i know that is overcomplicating things..............
but also you gotta look at it this way..........each of the competitors have the sme opportunity to put weight back on after weighing in,. so its not like anyone has an unfair advantage
except for kevin english,..........cause he is obviously pulling some kind of voo doo.......like havign an organ temporarily removed

That strategy could easily backfire as well...No different than boxers or wrestlers making weight. trust me, you can only put on so much between weigh in and prejudge without fuckin it up...Whatever their carbing method is up to the individual, but they all must make the weight...It's fair

They made weight when they were weighed in - if they want to increase pounds that quickly, how much conditioning will they lose?
-
as the title suggests they should weigh 202 or under WHEN competing.
-
English looked about 225!
So did Kai, and he was 280.
-
just call it the short class
if that hurts their little feelings then too damn bad
the class will never evolve if the top guys have to loss muscle to compete
-
Erik if you are reading this buddy go back to the 202 weight that made you pro!
-
202 are you kidding me.

No he was 202, I talked to him and his trainer after the show.

that's pretty good considering he beat guys who were probably 230 carbed up
-
he'd be top 5 at the 202 show if he stepped on stage lookin like that last nite.
-
They're weighed on Wednesday for a Saturday show. Someone like Kevin is probably 220 by Saturday. These guys should be weighed on Friday.

Yeah I actaully think he looked better at the weighin. He prob weighed a tad more on stage. I asked him why he didn't drop to the LH and they said that they were just going to go for the best look and not worry about weight. Sometimes this is a good move although a mass monster could have thrown a wrench into things, but I'm sure they knew who was in the show that year so it worked out.

I don't get the point of this class, anyway. It'd be one thing, if they were doing this old-school with the winner of this class, facing the an "over 202" weight-class winner for the overall.
Plus, English and Henry have proven they can compete in the open ranks. I believe in 2008, English won the 202 class at the NY Pro and placed second in the open to Kai Greene. Both English and Henry compete at the 202 class and open Olympia that same year (Wasn't that rule change made, because English actually made more money than Greene at the NY Pro?).

WHAT?
Last time I checked, superheavyweight minimum is 225. That's the class Farkhouser won, en route to the overall NAC title and his pro card.
Correction - He won the heavyweight class, not the Supers; I keep confusing his name with Kirk DeFrancesco, who has yet to turn pro (but is a superheavyweight).
