I was amazed at the additional size Kai put on in a short 18 months. Can't remember any other pro adding that much size in such a short time. Must be some training program!
I took some photos at the Australian Pro but from up in the balcony. I had trouble processing them but luckily shot in RAW so could correct them in processing. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the corrected images. Kai was in fabulous shape in March 2009. Had he retained that level of conditioning with additional size he would have been the favourite at the Olympia this week. The photos tell the story. Kai knew he was in trouble and the smile of confidence was absent this year.

Here are Kai's abs. A sorry rendition in 2010. Whatever was he thinking? He forced a smile here but oh, dear, what a letdown to his fans. Wiggs won't recover!
-
What about his back? The line under the lats is absent this year. Yet he improved his hams this year. Deeper lines there.
-
How about from the side? I took a fabulous shot last year but looked in vain for a similar shot this year. Colour balance isn't easy. Still can't get it exactly right. Here are two versions.

he threw away a truly awesome build.....hes turned to shit in the last 2 years.....the Australia show was the beginning of the end for him...

Kai will be back diced and huge. Guaranteed!

Kai was very popular in Australia last year. He surprised everyone except Wiggs when he won the Arnold this year. Yet in 6 months undid some of that success. He still is a contender if and when he dials in his conditioning as they say. There is a long history of champs who took a few contests to get it right. Chemistry 401 is hardly simple.
Here is Kai doing read lats.

of course he will.....but his biggest bodypart will be his gut...

Transitions are when Kai shines. He has pose after pose before striking the standard poses. This is intelligent presentation because he brings attention to his physique and displays all the various cuts, etc.
-
He has a lot of special poses he includes while the others are getting ready.
-
omg Vince you are so gorgeous, muscle daddy, please shave your body
-
You can't hide your gut from the side. This can spoil even a great physique.
-
Standing relaxed can tell it all.
-
I didn't bother downloading most of Kai's photos from this Olympia. This really is an experience he will learn from.

Here I am releasing these photos at Getbig instead of sending them into magazines. Hope the flotsam appreciate this! I should be trying to recoup some money for the expensive camera gear I have. Photos shot with a Nikon D300 on a tripod. Used the 300mm lens and perhaps the 70-300 zoom which isn't that sharp. Will do much better next time with my two 5DII Canons and plenty of the L glass.

No, most of these photos have never been seen before. Only the side pose with arm extended has been featured plenty of times.
It takes some skill to take good physique photos. I will ask Tony to get the others out of the background during the comparisons. Will help the photographers.

This photo is interesting because it shows that even the contestants are directing their attention to Kai when he does all those transition poses.
-
Not sure how Toney Freeman came third last year. I guess Silvio had the conditioning. He does look awkward in some poses, though.
-
Group back double biceps comparison. Kai was the easy winner. After the judging there was an intermission and the fans lined up mainly to get a photo of Kai.
-
Do you any fucken clue what you are talking about? Photos " A " 15 to 20 lbs too heavy, photos " B " 15 lbs too light ( depleted.)
What a chump.

It is always refreshing to hear the valued opinion of a true expert!
Those of us who have competed have some idea about contest preparation. When a guy like Kai gets it quite wrong everyone notices and comments.
If we forget about the scale then I can't understand how Kai allowed himself to be that smooth coming into the contest. It appears that he is a week or two or three or four away from contest condition.
The only explanation I can see is that he knew he had to defeat Jay so thought he had to match him on size. He did that but paid the price. In the meantime, Jay had reduced somewhat because he knew that size alone can no longer win the Olympia. We can blame Ronnie Coleman for the inferiority complexes most of the big guys must have.
-
Kai is the master of transitions.
-
The hair and the stripper dance posing routine will keep this guy a fringe candidate, Arnold Classic successes notwithstanding.
-
Kai got a wake up call when guys like Wolf and Rockel were placed ahead of him. No one predicted this before the Olympia. Maybe he will have to rethink his presentation as well as his preparation.
