"I had many injuries, leg and back. I was sick, lost 6.5 kg while I was in Indianapolis. I could not push any harder. It turns out I was in better shape than (Frank Mir). Mir did not want dynamic fight. I was told not to push it till the third round. I was going to spend last two minutes attacking. I did not see the knee. I will definitely not fight again this year. I have options for 2 more fights, knowing myself I will do both."

I don't think they're excuses.. but more like reality. He just needs to realize that his better days are behind him and that it's time perhaps.
Interesting though to see that fighters may do a bit of "acting" to dictate the way a fight is going to proceed, as shown by MS's post regarding the talk back and forth between Mir/Cro during the fight.

Crocop has a family and he is a very intelligent man. He has put in his time and I think he realizes he can ride out some easy paydays. He feels the sport owes him something, and I kind of agree that it does. Many fighters are still doing this.
He can see retirement and I can't really fault him. The man put on some good battles in his prime.

i agree hes not making excuses but only telling the truth...that guy has been in full contact sports for years and that shit takes a toll on your body

For once, I agree with you. Crocop is way past his prime. Way, way, way, way past it. Way. In fact, he was already past his prime back in 2006 when he won PRIDE's open weight class championships. The Mirko of 2003 was a monster. Probably one of the top 5 MMA fighters ever and easily the greatest leg striker in MMA history. The Mirko of 2010 is a shadow of his former being.

they need to put cro cop on a season of TUF and see if he can fight his way back into the UFC...
other than Coleman and the Gracie that Hughes beat two fights ago, Cro Cop is the single most shot fighter in the history of the UFC

How dare you suggest that Crocop, one of the most mythic fighters in the history of mixed martial arts, subject himself to the indignity of having to prove his worth via TUF????????? He should simple retire. He is sucking not because he is overrated as a fighter; he is sucking because he is old.

Crocop is done! Wanderlei is done. They both can have an exciting fight, but they only need to be paired with strikers.

As great as a fighter he was in pride, his idol/hero was Van Damme for crying out loud

IMO CROCOP should enter light-heavyweight division...and just make a weight....205 is within healthy reach...and as he becomes UFC champ there...he could chouse to return to HWY weights...

Dude, you are kidding with this shit. The Crocop of 2010 couldn't make it even in the lightweight dvision fighting against BJ Penn, let alone take Shogun in the light-heavyweight division. Look at what Shogun did to Machida in their second fight. We might actually see the first death ever in the MMA if Crocop goes to light-heavyweight.

He'll never be LHW champ in the UFC. TOO much talent there. He would never get past Jones, Machida, Shogun, Evan, etc. Too much speed. Although i'd like to see him try. ;D

lol. If he can't make it in the Heavyweight division, he sure as hell is not going to make it in the light heavy. That's one of the most staked divisions...
