On the heels of President Obama's criticism of Fox News in an interview with Rolling Stone, his Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton has gone out of his way to praise rival network MSNBC.
The Upshot's Michael Calderone reports that Burton was talking to a group of reporters on Air Force One when he was asked if Obama felt that people didn't appreciate or recognize his achievements. Burton said the president didn't spend time thinking about it, but that he wants people to know that his administration has "done a lot."
Then Burton praised MSNBC:
"And if you're on the left, if you're somebody like Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow or one of the folks who helps to keep our government honest and pushes and prods to make sure that folks are true to progressive values," Burton continued, "then he thinks that those folks provide an invaluable service. But at the same time, we need to focus our energy and our efforts on the choice that Americans have this fall."

Yes, but having a POTUS admit to stuff like this is really moving the ball down the court in the wrong direction IMHO.

Yes it does! Of course it does.
Its wrong when Fox kneepads and its equally wrong when MSNBC kneepads.
All media should always be going after all of these bums in govt all of the time, not giving them cover for their horrific policies and lies.
-
But does it really matter or warrant any kind of discussion...like really
Of course it does. This is unbelievable on a few levels. First of all, regardless of whether or not you think it was "common knowledge" that Fox was an offshoot of the Bush White House (which is absurd), did anyone in Bush's cabinet call out Fox's principal rival in the media and praise any of the Fox network hosts by name? This most recent admission makes Obama look weak, scared and completely incapable of handling criticism or formulating a viable rebuttal to the GOP on any of the hot button issues during the upcoming elections. Fox is the only network that hasn't lined up to kiss his ass, so he feels the need to address Fox by name? What a spineless pussy and what a joke of a Commander and Chief. Bush took 100000000000x the criticism from every major MSM outlet in the world for 8 years, was mocked day and night on The Daily Show, Colbert Report, SNL, and a million other shows and never bitched like a 6 year old girl who got sent to bed without desert. This fucking douchebag has a sense of entitlement which suggests he isn't fit to be a dog catcher, let alone leader of the free world. I seriously think that he stays up at night reading Glenn Becks blog and compiling an enemies list instead of running the country (when he's not playing golf, shooting hoops, or giving interviews to Rolling Stone).

Oh freaking please. Show me one example of the Bush admn doing anythin g like this over 8 years.
-
that Fox was an offshoot of the Bush White House (which is absurd),
off yourself...
-
Please explain to me how Fox News was an arm of the Bush administration. Because Karl Rove used to watch it and so did Dick Cheney? ::)
Glenn Beck wasn't even on Fox for 95% of Bush's presidency, You had Alan Colmes on Hannity and Colmes, O'Reilly who criticized Bush on numerous occasions-- Palin wasn't on Fox back then either.
You simpletons fail to realize that there is a difference between being ideologically compatible with a cable news network, and openly attempting to use a cable news network as a scapegoat to excuse your pitiful results and poll numbers as POTUS. Fox is the only right of center news network in the entire MSM. The President was a republican. Why the fuck would the cabinet members of a republican president watch MSNBC, CNN, etc. to constantly be mocked and bashed 24/7?> Not once did Bush adress MSNBC by name or openly criticize the network as preventing the progress of America (whatever that means). Not once did Bush applaud Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity or any of the other Hosts on Fox.
If you can't see the difference between those two situations, then you probably aren't bright enough to understand most things that happen in politics or life.
-
off yourself...
So much for all the other points, good points, that George Whorewell made.
-
I can't imagine any person on television being "invaluable".
They're just fucking people...
Crackers all want to think they are more important than they are.

This is not about Fox - but about the moronic WH you kneepad for praising one station over another. Bush never did that overtly no matter how bad you try to spin, excuse, or shill.
Mal - i will ask you this again - what has Obama EVER done for you to warrant your undying loyalty and devotion to the point you will excuse anything he does?

Hmmm, lets see,a guy who says he is a Christian and when asked why he is a Christian he says "I like the idea of being my brothers keeper".However, that quote is found when Cain slkew Able and when Cain is asked "where is your brother" Cain says "How would I know,am I my brothers keeper".
This man[obama]who claims to be a Christian doesnt even know WHY he is a Christian.Do you know why he doesnt know?Because he is a Muslim.

To the President's defense, his aunt claimed she doesn't want his help on the "60 Minutes" interview. She told the press to leave "my child" out of this.

John King Manages To Slam FNC, MSNBC And Pres. Obama In 90 Seconds

Yes, that John King! The CNN anchor took on some recent cable news-related comments by the Obama administration in a quick, sarcastic and brutally accurate segment on John King, USA last night.
“Sometimes you feel sad to be left out of a big debate,” he said. “This is not one of those sometimes.” And then he found a way in.
King started with Pres. Obama’s comments that Fox News was a “destructive force” in America, playing some of the more anti-Obama comments from Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. He followed that by noting Bill Burton had called MSNBC “an invaluable service” – and proceeded to play some of the most vitriolic clips from Ed Schultz and Keith Olbermann.
When King got back on camera, all he needed to say was, “got it?”
The moment felt a little like this famous showdown between Campbell Brown and former McCain campaign adviser Tucker Bounds – a fantastic interview that made some step back and say, ‘That was Campbell Brown?!’ That led to some semi-commentaries from Brown, later dubbed “Cutting Through The Bull,” that were sometimes successful and other times seemed forced.
It would do a smart move for King to try to establish himself as an objective observer in this battle between the Obama fans and foes, if for no other reason that it secures an identity for his program. The 7pmET timeslot is a valuable one on CNN – even more so starting on Monday when it needs to serve as a solid lead-in for new program Parker Spitzer. King’s ratings started low and have been steadily declining all year.
This could signal a new, potentially successful, direction on the John King, USA roadmap.

Its not just healthcare!
Its Cap & Trade, the mosque, KSW trial in NYC, bowing to dictators, the Stim Bill, and on and on and on.

Nope!
In some cultures, they refer to younger-generation relatives as "sons" or "daughters".
An aunt or uncle can sometimes refer to a nephew as "son" or niece as "daughter".
I'm not sure how prevelant that is in Western Africa; but, that could be an explanation.
Or, she may be the oldest-living female relative in his family, since his grandmother and mother have passed away.

I agree you have come around on ObamaCare. no doubt. Its the totality of all these things.
As for the wars, to be honest - I can't really fault him on these things all that much.
We are winding down the war in Iraq hopefully. In Afghanistan - we are not going to just pick up and leave on a dime. I don't like that we are throwing more troops in there, but he is so far not completely screwing that one up as far as I can tell.

Yeah they are also controlled by the state, you see there is a difference. Libraries also controlled by state/city/town etc. there is a difference.
If the state wants to provide health care for its residents fine it is within their constitutional right, the federal government on the other hand not so much.
So its OK for the federal government to ignore its constitutional authority as long as you feel its the "right thing to do"?
-
With some of the braindead fucks who post here, thank God Barry runs the country. To come to the conclusion that he is not aggressively liberal enough shocks the imagination and stretches reality to it's breaking point. I have a solution. Why don't you idiots move to Greece or Spain and take Congress, everyone that doesn't pay taxes and Obama's entire cabinet with you. After about a week, most of you will have to resort to cannibalism because there are no jobs, money is worthless and government entitlements have dwindled to nothing. Some of you will develop paper cuts from attempting to thumb through mass of papers containing the red tape and regulations required to travel throughout the country freely. Many of you will be forced to give away all of your money to bribe local cops and corrupt politicians. The paper cuts you developed will soon become scabs, sores and gangrene. By all means, go to your local emergency room. But don't count on seeing a doctor before all of your fingers fall off. So now your broke, missing a hand, homeless and have no food. Chances are, your too stupid to fish and too lazy to hunt. Eating shoes and crayons may be a desirable option for some of you. I would suggest eating Janet Napolitano first, followed by Jerold Nadler. A family of 10 could survive on those two for about 6 months.

Do you know anything about the Constitution or how our system of government works? Do you realize how stupid and ignorant you sound? There is no constitutional right to education, no constitutional right to housing, no constitutional right to food, or clothing or anything else beyond what the text of the Constitution provides. In this country, you are entitled to whatever you can AFFORD. There is a constitutional right to TRAVEL freely, but the government is under no obligation to buy you a bus ticket. For an examination on what happens when you start guaranteeing everything imaginable under the sun as a constitutional right, take a peek at what Greece is going through at the moment. While your at it, bone up on your constitutional law and get a fucking clue.

I want a blow job from Eva Mendes every day. Should I have the right to that since it would improve my daily mental state of mind?
-
Well, according to Mal there is pornography and you're allowed to jerk off to Womans gymnastics- so yes you should at the very least be ENTITLED to a blow job from an Eva Mendes look alike, as long as the revenue used to pay for the blowjob comes from the richest 5% of the country.

Woah Fox News..Dont put words in my mouth or attempt to configure my political beliefs.
Leaving the Constitution out of it because i know it dosent gurantee these things.
All i said is that if there are other rights decided by the federal government to be public...i think that the health of americans should be atop of the list...
nothin about jackin off to womens gymnastics...dude ...SMH

Amazing

Amazing
Why? BJ's are important for a guys' mental state of mind and improve overall health, so according to you, wehy shouldnt I expect Bill Gates, Buffett, and other to pay for it?
If i have to pay for some welfare bitches' abortion, the least a taxpayer should get in return is a bj no?
-
Dude..i said there is no right to school or books but there are still public sources for both..what in sam hill are you talking about..did you misread my post or did you misinterpret it
I probably did both. I was on such a roll after ranting about cannibalism and Greece that when I saw your post about healthcare I snapped. I apologize for providing such a disproportionate response, but in the end your comparison is still apples and oranges. When a Federally funded library can no longer afford to keep its doors open, it closes. Same with public schools that receive Federal funding. The children who attended the school that was shut down are simply absorbed by another public school, and the individuals that used the library will go elsewhere to read. However, neither is constitutionally guaranteed and neither is anything resembling a life/ death necessity such as healthcare. As a matter of fact schools and library's are the responsibility of the municipality and the state first and foremost. The feds only operate as a source of income. Schooling is necessary for a child's development, but not going to school will not physically harm the child. Reading is terrific, but nobody is going to drop dead if they can't access their free copy of Harry Potter. The revenue for schools and library's comes from local property taxes, state taxes, income taxes etc. These things are provided because the citizens of the locality in question pay for them. Healthcare cannot and should not operate in this manner for a number of reasons.
-
-
Well, once again, since no one watches MSNBC they never have to aplogise because no one knows what they are saying as the only ones who watch are liberal idiot shut ins living in their mommys basement.
-

And then when Obama wants health care= Communism
The Neo Cons are the most hypocritical disgusting people in american politics

Bush did the drug bill, expanded the S Chip program, etc, not that I agree with any of those things.
And Obama's health nonsense is a joke.

He did some good and alot of bad. As far as blaming him alone for the economy now is nothing more than ignorant hackery at its finest. only a complete idiot blames him alone for what has happened.
Did he spend too much? Yes, however compared to what is going on now makes him look like scrooge.
Did he go overboard with the patriot act stuff? Yes, but both parties voted for that and Obama has only extended, expanded, and enhanced that mess.
Did he push a bad drug bill? Yes.
However, compared to what we have now, Bush was no worse.
