"For the first time, astronomers have detected a rocky planet in another solar system that has the most basic and essential conditions needed to support extraterrestrial life."
Bodybuilding related: It is about 3.7 times the mass of earth and about 1.7 times the radius, so its gravitational pull would be about 1.4 times our own. Lifting would be very difficult!

I wonder if they have the same god and heaven or a totally separate god and heaven for this other earth OMG!???
-
They will all be damned to hell on that planet for not taking Jesus Christ as their lord and savor and GOD doesn't wanna hear that bullshit about Jesus walked on a totally diffrent planet and they never heard about the sacrifice on the cross
-
I look forward to the Mr. Galactica contest in 2510 8)

We're too busy spending money on junkie ghetto bums and old wastes of skin to build a rocket ship to get us off this rock. The dregs of humanity will not let us leave.

lol. maby they are 100 billions years ahead of us doesn't even need what We need to survive? who are we to say what "living" organisms are

Well you have obviously have to make some assumptions here since it's 20 light years away. The statement is based on assuming they have similar requirements for life as we do.

Thats how i feel swede, just cus we breath air on earth, doesnt mean Humans can't breath Fire on a diffrent planet to live you think small you will be small

Which probably mean bigger muscle size. Maybe someone from that planet can fly here for next years Olympia and actually beat Cutler. Because narrow, oil filled Heath surely isn't going to do it ;)
-
does this planet have their own Arnold? What is his name there?

This is my very favorite post of the day.
I think my heart grew a little bit bigger when I read it. And by "heart" I mean my cock penis. :)

Exactly. If we didnt know fish etc existed we would be certian that nothing couldnt breath under water becausr We cant..
-
Yet we have no way of getting there. That's like having a very, very hot woman, but having no cock to eff her (Reference to Mr. horsecock on Spartacus, who had his cock cut off)
-
maybe they have women with cocks there and its perfectly fine to suck on it without being labelled a homo?

LMAO ;D

I wonder if there is a Bizzarro GETBIG.com there? Maybe its called... getsmall.com

we are still driving around in combustion engines, 50% of power grid is still using coal to produce electricity.
lol. we have not been back to moon in over 20 years.
we should focus our attention on creating better and natural feeling breast and butt implants for our women. That to me has a better ROI

The distances between objects in the Universe are so incredibly vast it is reasonable to think we'll never visit, nor be visited by other beings, assuming intelligent life exists. It's unlikely we'll ever visit the outer reaches of our own solar system for that matter, as it would take a conventional rocket thousands of years to merely reach the Oort Cloud, if it exists, which is only 1 light year or so away.
-
But we might be able to communicate, if the creatures that might be on that planet knew how to use radio signals.

Considering the distance between worlds again, it would be quite some time before we could expect a response from any radio signals we send; years, at the very least. It is much more feasible an idea though.

Yep it would take 20 years there and 20 years back. But we have sent radio signals as far as 10,000 light years away, to some distant cluster of stars within our galaxy.
-
Sevaste would of told you about this years ago if you would have listened to him.

Ummm...that would take 10,000 years to get that far. lol
Distance = time in this case. It takes 1 year to travel 1 light year at the speed of light. We been sending radio signal for just over 100 years, which would mean just over 100 light years away.
The signals too, may not get very far. A couple light years at best as background noise in space destroys the signals. Which could also be the reason we haven't heard from any 'Alien Radio Stations'. ;D

we have been sending out radio signlas into the space for years trying to get some contact with someone/thing And they have hard signal a few times which they couldn't figure out.
Dont know that they were called. Im sure its on youtube, a pretty big facility, nothing secret or anything
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communication_with_Extraterrestrial_Intelligence
and we have also sending it to stars far far away
Stars to which messages were sent, are the following:[5]

I could have said "send them on their way". That is more accurate. ;D
You are right, it's very likely that nothing detectable gets that far. It's the background noice and the scattering of the waves.

That sounds a bit pessimistic. There are natural laws and phenomenon that are yet to be discovered, that could radically alter things and make travelling cosmic distances possible in a way we can never think of at present.
A couple of hundred years ago, people would have said that it's impossible for someone in Europe to hear what someone in some Asian country was saying. While that's technically true, we've got phones that make it possible now.
Same goes for long-distance space travel - not feasible with the current technology, but could very likely happen, although I'm obviously just speculating.

Would be nice to create wormholes etc, but it that sort of technology is still sci-fi at the moment. But you're right, ya never know.
-
there are klingons near uranus
-
A lot of people also forget that the imaging we are getting is like 10,000 years old since it takes light that long to travel here
-
We don't need to wait for Aliens to contact us. They are already walking among us. Well, that is what the Inquirer says anyways...

Most scientists say that's our best bet and could be done with future technology.

so by the time our message is answered we are most likely to have become extinct........

WHY THE FUCK ARE WE SENDING OUT MESSAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!!!!111!!
DO we WANT to be KILLED????
WE SHOULD BE FUCKING HIDING!!!
ALL brodcast shoult be halted and ONLY landlines/cableS shouled be used.
LOW LIGHT CURFIEW should be mandatory!!!
EVEYONE SHOULD LIVE UNDERGROUND LIKE HOBBITS!!!!!!!!!
-
If you go fast enough to get there you might end up warping time in a pretzel ultimately going back in time on the way there. If you travel fast enough you would go back in time right?

We send signals on just a few frequencies. We just assume they might be picking them up. It's highly doubtful we'd ever get through to any alien beings. An entire universe could be listening, but not on our frequency.

Even with the best technology it would take something like 100,000 years to go 20 light years. That is one hell of a long way. We can't imagine a self-sufficient space ship being able to do that. Imagine getting a crew to man it? It would be a one-way trip to nowhere. How many generations would that be? 4000? Absolutely unthinkable. Light goes 186,000 miles per second so imagine how light goes in 20 long years. Man will get to Mars and perhaps some of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn but that is about it. Interstellar travel seems a pipedream at the moment. Yes, technology is still young and who knows what the future will discover. However, I have doubts that fast travel will be possible between the stars.
The planet is similar to the moon in that the same side faces its star much like the moon faces the earth. That means one side would be boiling and the other freezing cold. That would produce huge storms if they have an atmosphere similar to earth but we don't know that yet. Any possible life would have to evolve in a narrow band near the edge of the planet where temperatures would be moderate. I have my doubts that life as we know it could evolve there. Maybe having seasons and day and night like we have are part of the requirements? This is still all speculation. There are NO radio signals from space that are not natural. In other words, the only signals out there came from our planet. Even though the likelihood of life elsewhere seems good, finding intelligent life and a civilization both close and current is another thing altogether. We may well be alone or if we are not we are unlikely to ever find anyone else out there. I can imagine humans eventually populating this galaxy called the Milky Way which has perhaps 100 billion stars. Andromeda is the closest other galaxy but it is 2.5 Million light years away and that seems impossible to bridge. The shows such as Star Wars are complete nonsense. You cannot have conversations across interstellar space. To talk to someone on the moon takes 1.5 seconds for the signal to get there and 1.5 to get it returned. To talk to someone in another star system would take years and years just to be received.

it's 20 light years away from Earth.. so what if we discovered it's habitable?
No one would ever survive the journey..

Haha, thanks for clarifying that Einstein ::)

So mars was markos chamok?
The Marcos Chamak (sp?) account belonged to another guy who's been here for ages and he changed it's handle to Tito24. He's a fan of the great Mars, which is why he handed over that account, so Mars could post using it.

Do you think a 1000 years ago men thought it would be possible to travel as fas as sound one day?
what about if the "race" has evolved for another billion years..? then traveling between stars isn't so amazing.. maby they can teleport or wherever they can put a beam on or a signal on etc..
stop thinking inside the box and comparing to humans.. we have no idea
-
Skyline ...... the soon to be released movie is supposed to answer all this stuff intelligently.
At least that's what the original script had in mind.
We'll soon see.
I think that the solution to ultra long distance space travel will be found in the advanced study of Quantum Mechanics which should occur within the next 80 years or so.
Some ambitious folks have even been interested in making advanced travel arrangements for their yet to be born grandkids.

What if the first thing an alien race saw were men in thongs?

maybe they should sent the olympia line up into space
