Title: AMI does not allow footage of the Olympia on Youtube
Post by: TRIX on October 05, 2010, 01:47:15 AM
I have posted it 3 times, i'm not profiting in anyway, it gives phil heath more notoriety if anything. Yet the neo nazis AMI american media inc keep complaining to youtube and getting it taken down every time. How can a sport aka beauty pageant grow if people can't even watch a damn finals routine on youtube that goes for 2 mins?
Title: Re: Bob chick, why wont AMI allow me to have phil heaths routine on youtube?
Post by: Matt C on October 05, 2010, 01:58:07 AM
The same thing happened with my videos.  They were all taken down after AMI filed copyright claims.  Does AMI own the rights to all footage from the Olympia?  If I had known that originally I would have not taken so many videos to begin with.  Oh well, live and learn.

make your own website and post them.  they will send you cease & desist letters.  ignore them all, have them got through as many hoops as possible.  get their legal bills as high as possible.  Call the attorney and work out a deal where you will keep the complaint going as long as possible so they can keep charging AMI legal fees and tell them you want a piece of it.  They will cut you deal and you can make a little money on the side.  If they can make $100,000 in fees off AMI they will cut you in for maybe $10,000 to $20,000  Everybody wins.  Then just start another website.

before you do as suggest i offer this link here (http://www.adrforum.com/domains/decisions/97750.htm) which can be found by searching google for my name, david molle. i am the former owner of mscleosucks.com  just prior to my purchase of the domain the dot sucks law was passed and for 1500 they could attempt to force me give up the domain. which after defending myself to a judge i did and conceded the domain.

Ive also owned hundreds and thousands of porn related domains, sites, pages and black hat seo work.  DO NOT think you can ignore a cease and desist. unless you are in a commie country your host MUST shut you down otherwise risk legal action against themselves.

ATTEMPTING or thinking you will make any sort of deal can and will be construed as bribery against you.
you talking out your ass about fucking with big time lawyers. i been a webmaster since 99. you fucks are clueless.
this will be the one and only post that bobbeh boy chic will agree with me and bow in reverance to my superior knowledge

Good to know.  Still would be fun though.  Doesn't mean shit if you are posting the videos up for fun and not making money from them.  I mean why woudl you care what they did as long as you are having fun fuckng with them.  And getting your domain hosted in a country that could care less about any law can't be that hard.  But who knows.  I never tried it.  But if it is possible then why not.

Yes, AMI owns the rights to the Olympia footage.  They in turn, made a deal with bodybuilding.com where you can see the routines, the contest, and the athletes from the contest at bodybuilding.com for a limited amount of time.

Afterwards, you can purchase the DVD.

You may not like it, but each promoter has its own way of dealing with the contest.

Bodybuilding.com paid for the right to rebroadcast the event - not Youtube, and certainly not others who were in the audience just taking videos.

It is the same for many local contest - there is an official videographers (usually) and also an official photographer.   You need to respect them.

Why doesn't AMI have Bob announce that?  Just something brief eluding to the fact that videos cannot be posted online.  I would have taken pictures instead.  Or are the pictures I took the property of AMI as well?  I did not have a press pass.  How can I get one?

just more self-defeatism by the idiots who run bodybuilding

no one except for a few schmoes is gonna buy the "olympia dvd"   they can suck my fucking brown asshole

The people who were going to buy the DVD anyway aren't going to NOT buy it just because some schmoe posted a camera-phone clip on YouTube.

That's called knowing, or rather NOT knowing your market.

Ever since that Jersey kid's suicide, though, there's been a major crackdown on posting gay content on the internet, so that could be the real reason behind the copyright claim.

This really shouldn't surprise anybody, there are billion dollar deals in place between espn/abc and ami for this exclusive content...too much money to be made to simply give it away....

The IFBB gets confused and sometimes thinks it's the NFL.  Any exposure is good exposure when you're talking about professional bodybuilding.  Wait for the DVD?  Yeah, that'll attract new fans instead of allowing it on Youtube where young people are likely to see it and possibly become fans.

exactly.........the NFL is at a point where they can charge for EVERYTHING, and people will payit

the IFBB on the other hand, should be happy to attract a few new fans

Ron, is this just the contest footage and not the expo?  Also, how can I go about getting a press pass and also do you know how I could offer some extra prize money for the Arnold?

the IFBB on the other hand, should be happy to attract a few new fans
which they do quite well at i'm sure. also realize the current base
has much much more blood to shed and is itself self sustaining.
it recreates itself virtually on autopilot. that's over you though.
your outlook and knowledge on the business of bodybuilding let alone
marketing, let alone marketing online, is that of one of the bleeders.
