Not really into games anymore, like I have the ps3 and ds and stuff, just never play them but I was thinking of getting a game for the winter to dabble with the odd time, was thinkin of heavy rain (is that good?) but this Fallout looks to be somethin you could play a bit and come back to

I played the last fallout game. Yawn-fest, i just didn't enjoy it at all.

To me the Fable series is more interesting. I am totally hooked on Oblivion and Elder Scroll.
Fallout uses the Oblivion game engine. Assasin's Creed is great also

i really liked 'Fallout 3'
it was a big game, takes a LOT of time............and because the game is SO BIG the graphics lacked
are the graphics and gameplay better in the new one??...........the first one was more of a roll playing game with elements of FPS.......but there was some real cool elements

another thing i could have did without in the first one was the color palate
i understand it is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.............bu t too many light greens and browns.........it was not fun to look at
as compared to a bioshock type of world or something

and i also gotta say it was a very inventive concept , the retro-futurism, how the game was set in a world where, dispite the wars adn tachnology.............i t has stagnated culturally in the behaviors, styles, and social morays of post WWII.

I was ADDICTED to fallout 1 and 2 the classic ones...imo they should have made all the new fallout series like the classic ones...gameplay wise.Now they have made them more of a FPS. destroyed their legacy. ::).
The current developers of "Diablo 3" are doing a good job keeping the old gameplay.

finally got Assasins creed 2 to work in the pc and gave up after 30 min. Fucking INSANLY complicated controls. fucking hell.

I have mixed feelings towards these massive games with huge environments. Part of me likes the simple walk along here, no, you can't go down there, shoot the fuck out of everything stuff...

what bothers me about the huge ultra-involved games is the shear amount of time involved............
it takes a LOT of time to get good at it, to the point where its fun to play
it takes a LOT of time to complete
it just takes a LOT of time in general, big investment of time

I put about 200+ hours in to Fallout 3. I am most definitely playing New Vegas. But first, I will be playing Vanquish.

That's what i hate about Metroid Prime 3 Corruption for Wii....
Amazing game, great story, fun to play but if you stop playing for a few weeks and then continue to play on a higher level, the controls are complicated and you have so many skills, you don't remember it.
Right now i am playing Just Cause 2 on the PS3, fun game.

There's lot's of shit to find out in this game, i love to try stuff with the grappling hook, or just fly around the big cities in an attack helicopter blowing up gasoline stands, lol.

Chiming in about Arkham Asylum. Easily one of, if not the best games that came out that year.

Red Dead Redemption. Of course I have owned it since release and beat it in the first week. In single player there is still much to do and challenges to be met once you have beaten and even gotten 100 percent completion. The multiplayer is endless and incredibly enjoyable as well.
I will also buy Fable III. Hopefully Molyneux is less of a bullshit artist this go around.

The only game I have for my PS3 is MW2.
I enjoy it a lot and at times I just troll. I probaly average around 8hrs a week playing it

The only game worth a shit in terms of gameplay. 11 years old and still unmatched. Trash games like Halo don't even hold a candle to Quake.

Dunno. The way game works, it's possible that New Vegas was started before III wrapped up.

Alpha Protocol might have been the worst reviewed game this year. Knights of the Old Republic II sucked balls. Also, New Vegas is getting reviews right now of having a serious amount of technical glitches.

No they didn't - it was Black Isle. Some of former employees work at Obsidian, but that's not the same thing.

The old Fallout was addicting as fuck... I remember just wanting to take a look at it and 10 hours later hunting golden geckos by the dozen.
A true gem of a game + awesome music.

I have a seriously addictive personality. A game as vast and expansive as FO 3 or NV now...damn. I could become a shut in for weeks! ;D

This. This is the reason why I don't play any modern FPSes seriously. They all seem like a complete farce comparatively to me and I always have to end up explaining to people "no, I don't have halo/call of duty."

All the new fps seem slow paced to me, save for maybe UT.
I still play a Q3 mod, Urban Terror to this day. Somewhat decent community.

Quake was good, but FPSs have evolved, and are much more than just running down corridors shooting with a different variation of the same weapon.
If Quake was the be all end all, it would still be being released as we speak.

In terms of skill the FPS genre has degenerated massively due to the influx of casual players. I know a lot of great players are fans of it, but I really do think Counter-Strike and its "newb" rewarding random shots have pushed FPSes to where they have evolved today. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy modern day FPSes also, but they don't require you to have inhuman reflexes and god like awareness of the map to be number 1 any more.
My nephew who is 14 considers himself AMAZING at Halo and all the modern day FPSes, whereas I find almost all of them completely dull and slow (save Battlefield series mainly due to just the ways you can create hilarity). He loaded up Quake Live for the first time and he just couldn't keep up saying "wahhh its to fast how do you play this" and his jaw promptly dropped when I got in there and started doing my thing. I then explained to him there are people a LOT better at this. He just can't understand it and that's how most gamers are being brought up this generation.

I hear you on all points, dude. Especially the speed part (unlimited sprint in games like MW2 help this a bit).
I just think the games have become more dynamic with much better level/weapons design. I won't get into the whole PC/Console thing because it's so tired, but it's also harder to shoot accurately not using the mouse (even with auto-aim).
