I love lifting heavy weight but, in the middle of September I am going on a deployment with my ship and I will be gone for 6 months. I need some advice on how to get a full body workout using only bodyweight exercises. I have incorporated some things like dips, chins, pushups and some ab work without using weights but I'm still relatively new to all the exercises available. So I need some help coming up with a weekly routine that I can do to at least try and keep what muscle I do have while I'm out to sea. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks

Are you in the US Navy?
if so....most ALL of the Navy Vessels have fully equipped gyms on board
-
These are lightweight, travel well and are very effective.

Yes it does dipshit.....because the US Navy has implemented programs to furnish all US Military Naval Ships with workout equipment. It's called knowing where your tax dollars are being spent moron.
Some other nations have not.

You're an idiot. Some things you can just assume; for instance, that he knows he does not have the equipment that he desires on HIS ship or he wouldn not have asked the question. ::)

not trying to get in the middle of anything but most ships in the U.S. Navy are equiped with weight training equipment but my ship is an older ship and they havent gotten around to putting more equipment on it yet.

well, why don't you just google "bodyweight exercises"
you'll be amazed what you discover
-
ok thanks

google it and check for variations of exercises you allread know, like push ups etc
might wanna try a full body workout 2-3 times a week.
im sure there's other people on the ship that wanna stay in shape too so you can exchange ideas

you wont be able to achieve anything only with your "bodyweight".
No weights, no muscle.

bullshit
if someone starts with nothing
then starts bodyweight exercises
you would be amazed at the results

Might I suggest you do your "Bodyweight" excercises with your pack, or a back pack filled with weights.
Try banging out push ups with 80 pounds on your back and your feet up on a chair!

Might want to caution all those gymnast that they will not get any thing in the way of muscle if they only do bodyweight exercise. Some of them look much better than a lot of guy's who have been BB'ing for years, wonder why? I remember watching the Olympic games when I was in college and there was this guy from China who won the all around title. He must have weighed 145 or so. His arm's looked like they were a third of his bwt, huge with one of the most impressive pair of biceps & triceps I've ever seen, in or out of the BB'ing world. Good Luck.

you'll be amazed with what you can improvise, do shrugs with toolboxes full of wrenches, etc

So far this is the dumbest remark today on GetBig. And good example about the gymnasts.
-
when you do dips on the bars, the lightest weight you can do is your bodyweight. i've done bodyweight dips until i couldn't get another rep out... its the sam wight chins
